Was playing a little modern with my nephew and looked around for newer deck lists and came across this interesting 5-0 UW Tron list:

Having played a lot of Yorion in standard, I am intrigued by the possibilities in this deck.

What do you all think of the Celestial Kirin + Ugin's Conjurant combo in this deck?

I haven't played this deck for a while (usually playing UW control these days), but every once in a while I am drawn to the fun and powerful stuff this deck can do.

Played last Thursday at 40+ modern night. Went 0-3 so I won't bore you with details. Bottom line, the meta feels more diverse since I last played, and I think this deck can at least hang with other decks. I played Jace out of the sideboard and only stuck him once (he died shortly thereafter), but he was definitely the card everyone wanted me to discard with Thoughtseize.

One card that I thought was really bad was Remand. I'm thinking about swapping in some number of Spell Pierces, or maybe additional Condescends? Any ideas on better counterspells? It could also be my rust showing as I definitely made a few misplays.

The deck was fun and people like watching it. Some opponents are, What the heck are you trying to do here?

I have an Eternal Masters and an M20 FTV one, so I'll jam one in and see how it goes. Interested in hearing how testing goes with it. Thanks.

So can we add Jace the Mind Sculptor to this deck? Maybe in the sideboard to put in for Ugin against Eldrazi?

The banning of Top has me bummed about Legacy, in particular because I think it makes this deck better, and this is the only Legacy deck I can afford or have the cards for. Without Top, you are more at the mercy of top decks, and some of the cards we play are pretty miserable top decks. What do you all think? Is there a good replacement to give us some card selection? I was thinking about splashing Green for Sylvan Library, but then I would have to get into duals of which I only have a few (and no Bayous). The deck is still definitely playable without Top, but I will miss it.

I did some testing of Nephalia Academy against my nephew's Death Shadow deck and it turned out to be surprisingly useful against all the discard. It's nice to be able to choose to discard a card or draw it in the early game. I don't know if it would be useful in late game, but as a first land play, it worked pretty well. I have a "flex" land slot where I play Ghost Quarter or Bojuka Bog that I replaced with this card.

8-Rack called out by Todd Stevens in his article about Modern today:

    http://www.starcitygames.com/article/34518_How-Has-Modern-Changed.html

Of note: four copies of Smallpox.

"After twelve January Modern tournaments, 8-Rack has put up more Top 8 finishes than Infect and Dredge combined."

Hey H4rdcor3, just curious, why do you run Gitaxian Probe instead of Thoughtseize?

    Hey all,

I'm rebuilding my Legacy rack pox deck after messing around with a modern 8-rack version that had Pack Rat and Asylum Visitor. I played a list pretty similar to the one on page 1 during the Legacy GP in Seattle a while ago and did better than I expected (ended 6-3). Are there any major updates to this archetype? I would think that Fatal Push would be way better than Disfigure, for example. Just having not played Legacy for a while, wondering if the meta has changed much in the past year. Thinking about taking this deck to GP Vegas this summer.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

So guys, i have all the 8-rack base (the smallpox one, much like the Tom Ross list), but i'm missing the Lilianas and they are out of by budget right now. I know she has no replacements, but what do you recommend to put in her place, just for FNM fun purposes. I'm currently running a play set of Gatekeeper of Malakir that was lying around.

You could try Necrogen Mists, but it's really a poor substitute (though I do play one since I only have three Lilians at the moment...

Check out the UW list at the bottom. Anyone try this kind of thing? Quite different from the usual UW list.

Corbin played around with UW Tron and posted a video on TCGPlayer.com:

Haven't watched it yet, but these videos do sometimes get people interested in trying different decks. Maybe?
