Sep 25, 2018jshrwd posted a message on The Limited Archetypes of Guilds of RavnicaPlaying simulated pools, Golgari's mechanic has felt really clunky. It's almost as if it doesn't have enough stuff to actually enable it. The "creatures in graveyard" mechanic almost begs you to play more than the traditionally-recommended number of creatures, so that you can engage via creatures instead of spells as a way to fill your graveyard.Posted in: Articles

Dec 18, 2017jshrwd posted a message on MTGSalvation's Deckbuilder is Here!As a 100% casual player, I wouldn't use this deckbuilder for the following reasons:Posted in: Articles
1. No privacy restrictions. I don't want comments/feedback, and people don't want my crappy, formatless deck lists to show up in their searches. So I look for places that let me use their tool without having to expose my content to others.
2. No playtest functionality. I don't have a lot of people to play with. Being able to load up an environment where I can roughly simulate some plays with the decklist are critical for my evaluation of whatever pile of crap I've put together.
Outside of the better site quality of MTGS, I don't see anything here to make me switch from TappedOut.
By all means, I'd love to be wrong. Let me know if I overlooked functionality. -

Absolutely. Fantastic writing. -

Have you seen how many coincidental overlaps there are with your write up today and the new Ixalan story, "The Shapers"? Barriers, Guardians, spells that seek out artifacts containing spells that prevent planeswalker travel to (or maybe from) a plane? -
Sep 11, 2017jshrwd posted a message on Changes to MTGSalvation User AccountsI find the irony of you complaining about companies not caring about security in a post where a company explains why they are taking steps to make your information more secure to be very delicious. Very delicious indeed.Posted in: Articles
For what it's worth, I work in the tracking infrastructure that you're lampooning. I can assure you that we have long since moved on from logins and other cookie-based identifiers. Everything is about devices now, since you can't delete your device ID. So don't worry about this merging. The stuff you're concerned about has already happened and was out of your control. -

Exactly my first thought, as well.
Make a deck with her and Yisan and tutor up creatures all. day. long.
I think the thing that was holding me up on Disk was wondering if there was some unexpected scenario I hadn't considered. For example, maybe people were playing it late in the game after either dropping an indestructible creature and/or floating a ton of mana to allow for an immediate re-cast of Kozilek. But if those aren't common avenues of success, I'm all for not playing a card that hurts me as much as everyone else.
Definitely noted. I'm going in tempered expectations and expect to get whooped. Most of the current deck is stuff I just had sitting around (decklist). I didn't want to start heavily spending/trading for upgrades until I knew the exact power level necessary for the store.
There are a couple things on my mind heading into tomorrow I can discuss now:
1) Tokens. Last time I played at this store, there were a fair number of token decks running around. Have you ever considered Engineered Explosives to go along with things like Ugin and All is Dust? Any other options?
2) Nevinyrral's Disk. I see this come up in a lot of deck lists, but it feels like it can just as easily destroy your own plans since it takes out your mana artifacts. Do you play this, and, if so, what's the right way to do it?
It's been a few months since I've played EDH at my LGS. Seems like it was fairly casual last time, but not sure how it plays now.
Looking forward to coming back here over the weekend for some advice based on my first read of the current meta.
Pic so small.
Awwww
But still fun
Probably Blood Operative
Nah. It's how you take the wind out of their sails. Acknowledge that they're not fooling anyone and move on with the conversation.
Things are fine. Just fine.
I think that says more about Wizards needing to adjust to competitive pressures than anything else.
That is the number one limitation in the game, imo
I have put $25 into it - that I got when I sold out of MTGO - and I have no desire to put more into Arena because it feels so much more wasteful
lol
thanks for finding and sharing
