Sep 25, 2018jshrwd posted a message on The Limited Archetypes of Guilds of RavnicaPlaying simulated pools, Golgari's mechanic has felt really clunky. It's almost as if it doesn't have enough stuff to actually enable it. The "creatures in graveyard" mechanic almost begs you to play more than the traditionally-recommended number of creatures, so that you can engage via creatures instead of spells as a way to fill your graveyard.Posted in: Articles

Dec 18, 2017jshrwd posted a message on MTGSalvation's Deckbuilder is Here!As a 100% casual player, I wouldn't use this deckbuilder for the following reasons:Posted in: Articles
1. No privacy restrictions. I don't want comments/feedback, and people don't want my crappy, formatless deck lists to show up in their searches. So I look for places that let me use their tool without having to expose my content to others.
2. No playtest functionality. I don't have a lot of people to play with. Being able to load up an environment where I can roughly simulate some plays with the decklist are critical for my evaluation of whatever pile of crap I've put together.
Outside of the better site quality of MTGS, I don't see anything here to make me switch from TappedOut.
By all means, I'd love to be wrong. Let me know if I overlooked functionality. -

Absolutely. Fantastic writing. -

Have you seen how many coincidental overlaps there are with your write up today and the new Ixalan story, "The Shapers"? Barriers, Guardians, spells that seek out artifacts containing spells that prevent planeswalker travel to (or maybe from) a plane? -
Sep 11, 2017jshrwd posted a message on Changes to MTGSalvation User AccountsI find the irony of you complaining about companies not caring about security in a post where a company explains why they are taking steps to make your information more secure to be very delicious. Very delicious indeed.Posted in: Articles
For what it's worth, I work in the tracking infrastructure that you're lampooning. I can assure you that we have long since moved on from logins and other cookie-based identifiers. Everything is about devices now, since you can't delete your device ID. So don't worry about this merging. The stuff you're concerned about has already happened and was out of your control. -

yep, this
well, Birds of Paradise would be nice, too
I'm sure there are, but Magic qualifies as like my 4th hobby or something. I went to the DGM pre-release, and that was the first time I'd set foot in a store since Onslaught block.
Basically, while I know a few people who used to play, I know no one who actually plays and has cards to trade.
In fact, in my life, I would say I've only ever known two people who would fall into that category, and I only knew them because I taught them tennis.
Here's hoping for the best!
Like this?

I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow to find out about their duplication policy. I don't mind junk, but I don't want to order 30 and only get 6 different rares.
hard to *** to?
seriously, though... the heat is probably like a constant skin peel for her

This is so not scientific, so just take it for what it is - a casual thing for casual players
First and foremost, they don't keep the cards. They're mine and the people playing are the "I used to play and don't have cards now" type. So this is all just for fun.
As far as repacking goes, I just took all of my M13 cards and separated them by rarity. Next, I separated the commons into piles by color. The uncommons and rares stayed in their own piles, which makes for 7 piles in total: all rares, all commons, and 6 color types at common (M13 artifacts are all uncommon or rare, fwiw). I shuffled the hell out of each pile and started making packs like this:
1. 11 commons, 3 of one color and 2 of the other colors
2. 3 uncommons
3. 1 rare
Lather, rinse, repeat until you run out of something (like rares, in my case).
Let people grab a "pack" randomly.
That's the plan. Like I said, it's not particularly scientific. No concern was given to color strength. I just made sure there were even numbers of each color available across the population of packed cards. If we were more serious, that would probably matter, but this should work for our needs. If I can get more rares, I will have enough "packs" for a 4-man sealed or an 8-man draft for M13. Later, we might add in "packs" from other sets, if this goes over well. We're doing our first one in June.
Great tip! If I did that, I'd need to do this in the Market Street forums, right?
A) Way less rares than I need due to having 2x DBT in my pool, and
B) A heavy slant toward black rares in M13 out of dumb luck
I'd like to balance things out by purchasing some M13 junk rares on the cheap, and I'm hoping someone can give me tips about the most cost-effective way to do it. Am I best off simply purchasing individual rares online, or is there a better way to buy in bulk and save a few bucks?
Really? Why?
Rewarded them with...???
Meh... I did well in one event and poorly in another despite a bomby pool, and I had a total blast.
