  • posted a message on You Make the Card 4 (YMTC4) - Finals - BitWC vs. RoN
Let's be honest with ourselves for a moment while one of these cards is a safe pick then the others (bitwc) neither one has been through development yet, meaning that both these cards have a potential to look wildly different. So far (if memory serves) two of the YMTCs have been developed right out of viability in most constructed formats. Really we are betting on which card will development treat better, while I think BITWC is more likely to be developed less, that doesn't mean it won't blow up in our faces.

Saw this on blogatog; took a print screen to show here, and am including a link.

I think he deleted it, but I think this should provide insight.

Yes I copied the print screen to paint, I couldn't think of any other way to do it.

    My card's final version

Achieve Godhood: absorb the power of others to become all powerful.

Sacrifice a planeswalker: Put a divinity counter on ~.
When ~ has six or more divinity counters on it you are hexproof, you cannot lose life (or are indestructible if possible), and may cast spells from your graveyard.

[QUOTE=DLink123;/comments/5671202]This card will have memory issues...trying to play with multiples of these tokens will be difficult for either player. And this is a U/G card like The Mimeoplasm - doesn't feel very black to me.

Hmm memory issues are a problem, perhaps exiling both would solve that; as you could use both cards as the token. The Mimeoplasm is part black, this was my answer to the question, "What part of The Mimeoplasm is black?"

This feels like it belongs on a Planeswalker Ultimate, but making yourself indestructible has no functionality within the game. If it was "Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you" that would make sense. Hexproof is also not a black ability.

Since sacrificing planeswalkers was what I had in mind for the cost of adding divinity counters it should feel that way. I don't remember making players Hexproof worked either until witchbane orb defined what it would do. "Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you" does make sense, it lacks the impact of idestructable, narrows the avenues to victory if you fight a player with godhood, but you immediately know what it does. Hexproof on creatures is not a black ability, but hexproof on players has only been seen of artifacts. Plus Hexproof fits so well with the theme of omnipotence. You do have some strong points. I'll ave to consider them.

Alright down to two, it's coming close to deadline.

Playtest name: The machines that wished to be men.
Rules Text: Sacrifice an artifact creature: Exile target creature from a graveyard. Then put a creature token in to play that has the combined power, toughness, abilities, and creature types of the sacrificed and exiled creature.
Black gets to alter itself to accomplish it's goal, but in this case it only gets one chance to be what it wants to be. Even though it gets to be organic it's still just an amalgamation of what it was before, and what it wants to be. For it's plainswalker it is stronger than both. This is a card there you get to be he devil making the deals.

    Playtest name: Achieve Godhood.
Rules text: Cost: Put a divinity counter on ~.
When ~ has ten or more divinity counters on it you are hexproof, indestructible, and may cast spells from your graveyard.
I think the flavor explains it's self on this one. Indestructible doesn't exactly fit, but it's so clean, and fits flavor perfectly I almost have to keep it.

    Quote from Polendino
Indestructible is just a word, not really a keyword with a definition. It just means "can't be destroyed". Players don't get destroyed, they lose the game to State-Based Actions upon having 0 life (or to effects that say they do, a la Door to Nothingness, but these still don't "destroy" the player).

I would just make it "You can't lose the game".

If a permanent is indestructible, rules and effects can’t destroy it. (See rule 701.6, “Destroy.”)
Such permanents are not destroyed by lethal damage, and they ignore the lethal-damage state-based action

Now I realize that players aren't permanents, but the bold line is what made me think indestructible players would work. I wanted there to be a narrow path to victory even it your opponent achieved godhood, but I definitely see your point about just making it "You can't lose the game". I shall ponder this. pun indented.)

    Indestructible just "for the lulz"?

Or did I missed the cards that read "destroy target player, he may not regenerate"? Grin

Indestructible players may not work the way I think they do. I thought an indestructible player would not die at zero life.

Three ideas need some help deciding on one. I'll leave it to a vote.

    Idea one:

Playtest name: The machines that wished to be men.

Rules Text: Sacrifice an artifact creature: Exile target creature from a graveyard. Then put a creature token in to play that has the combined power, toughness, abilities, and creature types of the sacrificed and exiled creature.
Black gets to alter itself to accomplish it's goal, but in this case it only gets one chance to be what it wants to be.

    Idea two:

    Playtest name: Achieve Godhood.

Rules text: Cost: Put a divinity counter on ~.
When ~ has ten or more divinity counters on it you are hexproof, indestructible, and may cast spells from your graveyard.

I think the flavor explains it's self on this one. If indestructible works the way I think it does the player should be protected from losing the game at 0 life.

    Idea three:

Playtest name: Those who do not conform.

Rules text: Creatures you own cannot be controlled by other players. If creatures you control do not share any creature types, creatures you control get +1/+1 for each creature you control.

Black is the color that sets the wants of the individual as it's highest goal, so why not have a card that both shows black's love of the individual and it's ability to be the hero.

    Schtingah
Flavorfully hits the right notes(save for being an elf), mechanically feels like you give your opponent too much for way too little in return. Are you supposed to draw the turn you cast it, I'm not sure you do.

    EtR
Why wither? The effect seems kind of wonky for a legendary creature. Can repeatedly do very little.

    Prophylaxis
Remove hexproof and we are done here.

    HatterofMad
I don't understand the need for the time delay for the destruction. Needs higher power and toughness.

    Icarael
    Its repeatable mirrorweave, funfunfun.

    Socrates
Goes infinite with soul foundry or mimic vat. I'm not sure if that's a little too cheap for an infinite combo.

    Small Child
I find this one humorous. I'm not sure how the casting will work since you cannot look at the cards after you exile them.

    Vexing Arcanix
Ooh durddly. I think you could knock off two colored mana symbols from its mana cost and raise its toughness a tad.

    TOP THREE
    3: Vexing Arcanix
    2:Socrates

@Saagn The way I think it works (with my understanding of the rules so bar with me) is Inquisition cells First ability triggers upon resolving it checks the number of cards in the opponents hand If the number is greater then zero when it starts to revolve the player discards. If the player cannot discard to Inquisition cells only then should a counter be put on. Both should never happen in the same resolution. No time limit is set on playing the cards you exile.(supposed to be using the information you gathered when it is tactically relevant.) I could have sworn I listed the card as a rare, oh well it'll teach me to double check.

    [QUOTE=Maokun;/comments/7859294]
Lordshadow: Lots of wording and formatting mistakes. The idea starts well and fair but the moment when you are able to cast what you exile for free it quickly drops into the realm of the laughably broken. Good flavour though.

I'm not sure how you can cast the found cards for free with Inquisition cells, it should only allow you to cast them with colorless mana. Can you explain?

Simple easy to use, not sure how you'd use this in a draft, but that's part of the fun.

    aurorasparrow
I don't think this card fits blue's part of the color pie. Feels more like a green card. Is interesting, maybe too much for standard, but really cool for Eternal formats and Modern.

    Oculus
I really like this one, though I feel one could come off the kicker cost.

    Gallus
This seems out of place next to your avatar, and I have concerns about its power level. It seems to set up your deck way too well. If it wasn't scry, I think it'd be fine.

    TacticalCelebrant
Interesting card, can counter one of your avatar's abilities. Can mess with tunnel vision, and reanimator decks. Not a card who's every application is understood at first glace. Love it.

    Gerrard's Mom
Ohhh. I love this card. Nothing like it, crazy effect, build around me type. Though being able to repeat the chosen card does give me concerns about it's power level.

    lgmhorus
This one seems to be good at uncommon. Seems like a great sideboard card.

    Savia
Very cool get four on the field draw infinite cards. Close to perfect.

    Phyrexian Editor
Hmm a tempo card that hoses tokens, perhaps a little over costed. With some set up could be hilarious.
