Are there any ways to get rid of an artifact creature after it's already on the field? Annul works for when it's being summoned, but it doesn't help me when it's already on the field.
I'm really bad at sideboarding. Would someone explain to me the sideboards of Cuneo's and Major's decks? They have a 6 card difference, and I have a hard time seeing why. What would each of these two decks switch out and bring cards in for?
I'm really liking this deck. Not many cards are rotating out so it seems worth investing in. I've been looking for a deck that uses blue after pulling 2 copies of Jace from the pre-release. Without knowing the cards from the next expansion, I'm guessing Seismic Rupture will be an alright replacement for Anger of the Gods, but hopefully there will be something better coming out. I'm thinking there will be a dual land similar to Temple of Epiphany, and Radiant Fountain isn't a crucial part of the deck. I don't think there is a card in standard that is similar to Whelming Wave, so hopefully we will get something to replace it.
I'd like to go with as little creatures as possible, using a Planeswalker build. However, with Elspeth rotating out in 2 months it leaves me hesitant to invest in the rest of the cards if the deck is going to become crappy losing her finishing power. Any chance there will be a new card to fill her place with the next expansion?
I really like your deck. Any thoughts as to how it would fair in the meta right now? I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to play a more creature based UW or spell based UW deck.
After thinking on it for awhile, I think I'm just going to go ahead and build a deck similar to Ben Moir's UW deck. I was deciding between that one and http://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/306371#paper that has been becoming popular. I think Ben Moir's deck will be better in the future, as I don't think the new block will mesh as well with the second deck. Thoughts on this?
I'm not going to purchase Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Dissolve since they will be rotating out on October 2nd. I save 15 bucks, and I already use Elspeth Tirel in my modern tokens deck which is the best version of her for a tokens deck imo. The rest of the cards rotating out are cheap so I'll probably pick up copies of them. Any idea for replacements?
I'm having a hard time deciding on if I should pick up 4xDig Through Time since it's banned in modern. Any idea for a replacement if I decide not to buy copies?
Finally, what are the chances of Jace and Ugin being worth using in modern or commander after they rotate out? I don't mind spending the money if I can get use after they rotate out. How important would having 2 more copies of Jace, and 1 copy of Ugin be for making the deck competitive?
Any advice on a sideboards for the GB Elves and Goblin decks? I've been out of the loop for a few years so the majority of these cards are brand new to me, and it's a bit overwhelming to go through everything.
I just got back into MtG after a few year hiatus. I ended up pulling two Jace, Vryn's Prodigy from the pre-release pack I bought. I really want to try to build a deck around Jace, but I've never played UW Control so I've no idea where to begin. After looking at many of the UW decks seen on here, I feel have a pretty good understanding of the playstyle but I'd be really appreciative if someone could help me get a start on a deck since I'm not sure which cards are staples to UW Control.
I have a few criteria that I'm trying to work around when building a deck:
-I'd prefer not to spend more than a few dollars on any card from the Theros block, and M15 as they will be rotating out on October 2nd.
-I don't mind spending money on cards from the KoT block or Origins, but I don't want to spend the money on Ugin, the Spirit Dragon or more copies of Jace.
I'm trying to work out a sideboard, but I don't have anything definite yet. Cards I'm considering adding to either the main deck or sideboard are below:
-4 Ground Seal
-3 Detention Sphere
-3 Blind Obedience
+1 O-Ring (Added to help counter the loss of 3 Detention Spheres)
+2 Gideon, Champion of Justice
+2 Nevermore
+1 Elixir of Immortality
+4 Mana Bloom
- Blind Obedience : Very few people use artifacts in my area. The only reason this would be good is if the creature has haste, but it really isn't all that important in this deck.
- Detention Sphere : I don't think this card is really all that necessary with O-Ring, Sensory Deprivation, and Agoraphobia.
- Ground Seal : I think this card would be better in the SB. I think a better alternative would be to have Nevermore instead. The reason behind this is because a large majority of decks don't rely on cards from the graveyard around my area. This could be important in different locations, but depends on the meta.
- Mana Bloom : This card helps a ton for the lack of multicolored lands.
- Gideon, Champion of Justice : I really like this guy, but I'm pretty biased because I pulled two from packs and have nothing to use them for. Anyway, he can easily be used to win the game when the board is on lockdown. Plus, I just want to use this guy in a deck since I have a few not in use. -.-
- Nevermore : I think this is a better alternative to Ground Seal in most cases. With Alchemist's Refuge , this card can stop anything. I'm debating if I need more than 2. Thoughts?
- Elixir of Immortality : I'm not sure this card is needed. However, it is there in the off chance cards are placed into the graveyard that I need.
I'm trying to decide if it is worth putting any cards that help in drawing. I'm thinking Otherworld Atlas maybe be helpful. Finally, are there any remakes as to how this deck looks? Anything that should be removed, changed, or added? Thoughts on lands?
What changes do you think should be done? I'm kind of thinking that adding in a few Realmwright could help quite a bit with out the expensive lands. Maybe adding in Chromatic Lantern could help quite a bit also. Most of the cards in the deck are green and white. I think the duals could be cut. Maybe I'm missing something here, but instead of playing Ground Seal , wouldn't it be better to use a card that allows for multiple cards to be drawn? The additional effect on the card is good, but the majority of decks don't rely on cards from the graveyard.
On a side note, I've always wondered this. If Detention Sphere is used, and another copy of the card exiled is played onto the field, what happens? Do all additional copies of the card become exiled also? Or, are only the card and it's copies on the field exiled, and any additional card with the same name plays normally?
This is the list I'm currently running as of 10-12-15.
2 Harbinger of the Tides
2 Jace, Vryn's Prodigy

3 Dispel
3 Encase in Ice
2 Displacement Wave

Additional Cards to Consider
A few notes:
-After testing I prefer a build that focuses a bit less on Jace. I've had success with 2xJace, Vryn's Prodigy and 2xHarbinger of the Tides.
-Blighted Cataract and Skyline Cascade are good cards, but I'd prefer a bit faster land base.
-Horribly Awry is almost always better than Disdainful Stroke. Unless Eldrazi decks become a thing, I'd recommend sideboarding the former rather than the latter in most cases.
-Evolving Wilds has been more effective than I originally planned. Fetches prove more fluid, but cost a lot more money.
-As mentioned later in the thread, take a look at this article if you're willing to spend more money: http://www.starcitygames.com/article/31662_Revising-UR-Tutelage.html
Thoughts? I don't think I missed any major cards.

This is what I've finally come up with. Thoughts? Anything I should add, remove, or change?

Blind Obedience
Detention Sphere
I'm not sure how much Blind Obedience or Detention Sphere is needed.
This is what I've come up with a deck so far. I'm currently working on lands. Explanations below for the cards I've modified.
