Jan 16, 2014XBM Yosho posted a message on Primer constructionThus far it looks pretty solid. I agree with Obermeir on the inclusion of a Peasant section. It won't be a large section to add but it does give additional options.Posted in: -spooky- Blog

I certainly hope I don't get a vague ban one day because of it.Posted in: Cz Blog

Well, I have revised the deck into this, I decided to remove the Brave the Elements but I can slap that back in if it is needed, but here is the breakdown.
2 Figure of Destiny
2 Felidar Sovereign
4 Soul Warden
4 Soul's Attendant
4 Serra Ascendant
4 Ajani's Pridemate
4 Ranger of Eos
4 Proclamation of Rebirth
Enchantments
2 Oblivion Ring
2 Well of Lost Dreams
4 Basilisk Collar
4 Path to Exile
Lands
4 Kabira Crossroads
16 Plains
So the main change is that I now have cheap deathtouch equipments to slap on either my Ajani's Pridemate or Serra Ascendant.
Now obviously I do not have the protection from the two Brave the Elements and I had to remove two Oblivion Rings but I feel the four Basilisk Collars will be enough to mow down any opposition.
Well of Lost Dreams + the life gain in general will allow sufficient card draw I think, so I do not need to run any other form of draw.
The only other thing I was debating was removing the two Felidar Sovereigns and adding two more Figure of Destinys, but that might take away a pretty solid WinCon.
He is a good 3/4 first striker alone, but the above poster is correct in stating he does not trigger his ability upon entering combat since he was not declared as an attacker.
So in doing my own testing of my own deck, PE + CotW is still the clear winner do to the +1+1 and additional tokens, the vigilance however does not occur since the creatures who were declared attacking before she entered did not have vigilance, in addition she nor her tokens have vigilance until your next turn.
4 Soul Warden
4 Soul's Attendant
2 Figure of Destiny
4 Ajani's Pridemate
4 Serra Ascendant
2 Felidar Sovereign
4 Ranger of Eos
4 Proclamation of Rebirth
Enchantments
4 Oblivion Ring
2 Well of Lost Dreams
Instants
2 Brave the Elements
4 Path to Exile
4 Kabira Crossroads
16 Plains
What about something like this setup? I can get back all my creatures minus Felidar, Ajani and Ranger, still have 8 removal, added card draw and still have pump. I was thinking instead of pump, I could throw the Brave the Elements back in to protect the cards I cannot get back.
EDIT: So I have completely taken out the 4 Honor of the Pure and replaced them with 2 Figure of Destiny and 2 Brave the Elements.
Would Ghostly Prison have a spot in this deck?
I almost think I should remove Felidar for something else like 2 more Figure of Destiny, granted he is a great WinCon.
4x Ajani's Pridemate
4x Martyr of Sands
4x Ranger of Eos
4x Serra Ascendant
4x Soul Warden
4x Soul's Attendant
2x Proclamation of Rebirth
Enchantments
4x Oblivion Ring
Instants
4x Brave the Elements
4x Path to Exile
4x Kabira Crossroads
18x Plains
Here is another take on it, thoughts on this setup? I kinda like this, but want some of the power of the old setup but not sure how to combine them.
I thought of Swords to Plowshares for that reason, but I wanted this deck to be modern/casual.
If I take out a set of removal it might end up being Oblivion Ring over Path to Exile.
Then I can add some Loxodon Warhammer because more of my guys will either be super strong or first striker's so the trample would be excellent. Unless they have cheaper trample enchantments then 6CMC.
What do you think of the deck as of now? Is there enough in it to actually pose a threat? I think I have some nice wincons in it.
4 Soul Warden
4 Ajani's Pridemate
4 Knight of Meadowgrain
4 Serra Ascendant
2 Felidar Sovereign
2 Rhox Faithmender
4 Baneslayer Angel
4 Honor of the Pure
4 Recumbent Bliss
4 Oblivion Ring
Instants
4 Path to Exile
20 Plains
What do you think I should remove? The Recumbent Bliss seems like it would help a lot as does the other removal, so not sure what I can get rid of for equipment.
The reason why I thought Loxodon Warhammer would be good is because of the trample and lifegain if I put it on my Ajani's Pridemate.
So here is the revised deck as I see it being the best. I wanted to keep the deck as close to Celestial Light on DOTP 2013 as possible, but obviously make it more playable in real situations.
This deck as it sits comes out to $91.12
4 Soul Warden
4 Ajani's Pridemate
4 Knight of Meadowgrain
4 Serra Ascendant
2 Felidar Sovereign
2 Rhox Faithmender
4 Baneslayer Angel
4 Honor of the Pure
4 Recumbent Bliss
4 Oblivion Ring
Instants
4 Path to Exile
20 Plains
4x Soul Warden
4x Ajani's Pridemate
4x Serra Ascendant
2x Seraph of Dawn
4x Kemba's Skyguard
2x Baneslayer Angel
2x Knight of Meadowgrain
2x Lone Missionary
2x Felidar Sovereign
4x Swords to Plowshares
Enchantments
2x Recumbent Bliss
Artifacts
1x Well of Lost Dreams
1x Loxodon Warhammer
Maybe for budget sake just in general remove Goblin Guide and replace it with Raging Goblin.
4 Goblin Guide
4 Goblin Wardriver
4 Goblin Chieftain
4 Goblin Arsonist
1 Goblin Fireslinger
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Dragon Fodder
4 Goblin War Strike
4 Goblin Grenade
Instants
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Contested War Zone
21 Mountain
If you think you can put together a better budget goblin deck than this, please do post. $40 or less would be super too.
It is a free six card mill on turn two. With two Hedron Crab out it becomes a twelve card mill and so forth.
EDIT: Although, I have no experience playing with people who use 80 card decks, everyone in my circle has 60 card decks.
4x Deftblade Elite
4x Hada Freeblade
4x Kazandu Blademaster
4x Preeminent Captain
4x Catapult Squad
4x Field Marshal
2x Captain of the Watch
2x Honor of the Pure
4x Raise the Alarm
4x Swords to Plowshares
4x Oblivion Ring
20x Plains
Captain of the Watch is a big nasty threat, and I have gotten her down on turn four and been able to throw 24 damage at an opponent.
4x Deftblade Elite
4x Hada Freeblade
4x Kazandu Blademaster
4x Preeminent Captain
4x Catapult Squad
4x Field Marshal
2x Odric, Master Tactician
2x Honor of the Pure
4x Raise the Alarm
4x Swords to Plowshares
4x Oblivion Ring
20x Plains
If I remove Captain of the Watch in this scenario I can slap down Odric, Master Tactician and walk through anything or force block weaklings.
4x Deftblade Elite
4x Hada Freeblade
4x Kazandu Blademaster
4x Preeminent Captain
4x Catapult Squad
4x Field Marshal
4x Honor of the Pure
4x Raise the Alarm
4x Swords to Plowshares
4x Oblivion Ring
20x Plains
In this version I have no Captain of the Watch nor do I have Odric, Master Tactician, But I have put a total of four Honor of the Pure for more global pump.
Personally the main thing for me is, if your going to run Hedron Crab, you need Evolving Wilds. I would run four of each, it just makes the Hedron Crab more worth while and you still get your island out, just tapped.
So basically with that little swap, your sort of paying one mana for a six card mill but not really.
Just my opinion of course.
