Jan 16, 2014XBM Yosho posted a message on Primer constructionThus far it looks pretty solid. I agree with Obermeir on the inclusion of a Peasant section. It won't be a large section to add but it does give additional options.Posted in: -spooky- Blog

I certainly hope I don't get a vague ban one day because of it.Posted in: Cz Blog

ARGH! Stupid uncommons lol.. Ok so I removed the Tangles and replaced them with Prey Upon for now.
My only problem was he costs 5 mana, and playing in peasant format it may be over before I get him out is all.
How does something like this look? My concern is early game, how well this deck will do. Maybe instead of Tangle I would throw in Prey Upon.
4 Aquastrand Spider
4 Blightwidow
4 Deadly Recluse
4 Sentinel Spider
4 Penumbra Spider
2 Incremental Growth
2 Overrun
Instants
4 Giant Growth
4 Prey Upon
4 Rancor
4 Hidden Spider
Lands
20 Forest
In terms of creatures, am I running too many at 24? One thing I noticed with non pauper/peasant spider decks is all of the uncommon and rare spiders costs A LOT of mana, so I was hoping to keep the curve down and most of these are fairly cheap.
I was thinking my heavy hitters could be Deadly Recluse, Aquastrand Spider, and Ember Weaver. The rest are getting into that 4CMC. Aquastrand Spider is really there just to pump the other spiders up for cheap and be a body if I need him.
I may be able to just go the traditional green beast deck way with this and Giant Growth, Overrun it you think? Just with spiders.
I also completely forgot I had Rancor.
Thanks, I thought it would be a cool idea.
Another issue it has is with the inclusion of Fires of Yavimaya it now has 8 uncommons, (Giant Trap Door Spider) so that is another issue.
I might need to make it solid green and add in some removal and more pump or things like Prey Upon.
4 Giant Trap Door Spider
4 Ember Weaver
4 Aquastrand Spider
4 Blightwidow
4 Deadly Recluse
4 Kessig Recluse
4 Giant Growth
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Burst Lightning
Enchantments
4 Fires of Yavimaya
10 Forest
6 Mountain
4 Evolving Wilds
4 Giant Trap Door Spider
4 Ember Weaver
4 Aquastrand Spider
4 Blightwidow
4 Deadly Recluse
4 Kessig Recluse
20 Forest
I think I want to use these creatures, but then I need some sort of red permanents in order for Ember Weaver to be worthwhile and red in general to make Giant Trap Door Spider good.
You think I should run Journey to Nowhere at two and Unmake at four?
I thought about Attended Knight, possibly remove Veteran Armorsmith for him.
Nothing really, I just figured that it would make it slightly better if the inclusion of some uncommons was available is all.
I have never made a burn deck before, never really any other color deck before other than white so when it comes to my spider idea or this idea I dunno.
I know Lightning Bolt is pretty good lol.
Are we talking $10.00 or less per single card or all together?
This was the first one modeled after a specific card, but I was thinking about having each mana symbol made or possibly others modeled after other creatures.
Giant Trap Door Spider seems neat if I splash with red.
Aquastrand Spider seems cool to pump my other spiders, Ember Weaver is another good red splash spider.
EDIT: Something else I think I would need is fetch land cards and some pump since most spiders are generally in the 2 toughness range. Is Giant growth still a good card for green? I haven't made a green deck in about 10 years.
Blightwidow is going in the deck to, that infect is much to hard to pass up.
Here is my custom dice holder modeled after Ajani's Sunstriker, Ben Luttrell completed the sculpting and painting process within one week.

It would take forever to get any of them out.
In my experience in most soldier / knight decks, if you cannot get a foothold to victory by turn 4-5 you are in trouble. Granted you may be able to make a turn around or draw the game out, but my fear with this card is that you slow the tempo down by one turn which is enough to be quite costly to this style of deck.
I tried that land in both my soldier and knight decks that I run myself and it wasn't much of a help from my point of view.
Pardic Firecat and Flame Burst as I think this may be kind of fun.
Are there any other cards that pair with Flame Burst and if so any deck ideas to make this viable, or is this just stupid?
