    Hmmm..

I would never consider dropping Guardian of the Guildpact. To me personally I really don't care for the deck list you posted because it completely removed any hint of what I feel makes White Weenie a staple and a high quality top-tier deck, and that is the removal is its versatility.

With the deck list that I run for instance I can handle nearly every single threat thrown at me, I may not win all the time but I have a fighting chance. With that being said I have beaten every single type of deck more than once with what I run because of the control, aggression, and over versatile mechanics that are employed when using White Weenie.

White Weenie and the Soldier archtypes are my absolute lifes blood in Magic so in my experience and opinion I wouldn't change a thing unless something dramatic happens like an updated Standard Bearer that has zero downsides to it.

You do have to remember though, this is for paper play and it is different then online play, and of course meta's will be different from place to place.

I was looking through the Lorwyn set list the other day and came across Surge of Thoughtweft. This is a very good cantrip for any deck that uses a fair amount of Kithkin creatures. This is especially great with the full Kithkin build. With the Banneret in play it only cost one mana! This is strictly better than Glorious Charge in most decks.

I agree, when I have a free minute I will update the guide and the deck. Good catch!

Yeah, White Weenie is maybe not the... best name for a deck...

I really don't like how I can't see who is on and who is browsing. I actually used that little feature a lot.

I'd forgotten about that feature, to be honest! That was nice.

    Yea it really was.

Great to see you back! I noticed you were gone after the switch and figured that's why you disappeared. I'm actually back from a hiatus myself since I haven't had internet for a month.

Let's see if we can't get some action generated in our little corner of the site!

Yea we put some work into generating interest so let's see what we can do. Smile

    Whelp.

    Anyway, good to have you back. I haven't been on this board much either, lately. <_<;

LOL... I am proud of my Weenie... The deck Slant

Thanks, I must admit after the website change I kind of lost interest a bit and then the promotion and move didn't help that either. To be honest I really preferred the old style site much more. I know it seems to have been quiet around the Pauper and Peasant formats here, not much talk of my all mighty White Weenie neither! ;p

It takes some getting used to, and there are still lots of little things to be tweaked on the site, but I kinda like the look. My only two qualms are that there isn't a section to talk about yourself anymore, and that they got rid of the Forum Jump icon, which I used a lot and found very useful.

I'm a total nobody, barely even a lurker... but I just wanted to say that your pauper primers are wonderful, helpful, and much needed. Thanks for taking the time to compile and write up all of that information.

edit: to clarify, I am talking about both of you Smile

Thanks so much! I enjoy writing about these things, and I try to help everyone I can with it.

And I'll just chime in with XBM and invite you to come out of the shadows. :p MTGS is a wonderful community filled with people who want to talk and help each other out (for the most part). I hope to see you around again! Smileup

You have no idea how much I've missed you, seriously. Things have been so quiet around here! Welcome back!

    Congratulations on your promotion, too!

You are very welcome! I am glad to have helped you out with your needs and if you have further questions or comments I encourage them. Talk about what decks you like or want to make, build something around a favorite card ect. Debating on what is best in what situation or why this is like that makes decks and strategies become more tuned.

I look forward to more posts from you even if you are just a "lurker". Link

This is more for the old forum users then the new ones. I haven't been around a lot but I figured I would pop my head back in and let you know I am now back and ready to respond to some Pauper questions!

Long story short I took a promotion, moved and have been busy settling in.

Now I have to catch up on the threads here.

Haven't been to the forums in awhile but I figured I would chime in. A great beginner deck that gives you some options to be competitive would be White Weenie. I pretty much specialize in the White Weenie archtype so that is my go to suggestion for versatility.

Most likely the most simple deck to use is Burn, look in my signature and check out my Burn Primer and my Burn deck list. You can't go wrong with this as it is very simple, fast and efficient. If you want something fair, then fair it is not but competitive yes.

Though I would also check out the primer section here regarding some decks that are tested and work.

Both Obermeir and I have several primers there and you will find the information valuable I'm sure.

When playing in the Paper Pauper format, once a common, always a common applies. So Rancor is 100% legal for Pauper play here in paper.

I like all of the ideas both of you have mentioned. I will implement and or pass along most if not all of them here shortly. I have been busy with work and yada yada so things will get rolling here soon!

    Thank you for contributing.

Hang on a second, if you are using that website then why are you going by the average price? It's Pauper so realistically the condition of the cards shouldn't matter. Just go by the lowest cost and you can fit in whatever you want. If they didn't stipulate that then I suggest doing that.

Well, since you are allowed to use Invigorate you absolutely need to make that a four of no matter what. I also dislike Virulent Sliver in this deck, he is basically useless in my opinion. This deck is obviously going for the quick kill, so I would drop your creature count down to fourteen rather then sixteen and focus more on the spells.

I would suggest spells such as Groundswell and or Mutagenic Growth which may be cheap. It's a shame about the $10.00 cap because in most cases a T2 win will come at the hands of Rancor.

What about running with Lotus Petal? Can't really deny the speed advantage of the card in an aggro deck, I run it in my Turbo Soldiers and it allows me to close out games in just a few turns. If you don't want to increase your mana count that could be a solution.

A guy at our local tournaments runs a MBA and places top ten usually. I will have to get his deck list but he does run with four Dark Rituals, four Sign in Bloods and four Lotus Petals for sure. I know he also uses Vault Skirge and Carnophage too. I haven't actually played against the guy but he does manage to race Burn and win maybe about 80% of the time. I know he gets completely destroyed by White Weenie and Affinity though.

The idea is still on the drawing board for now. I still trying to develop fair decks. The actual program won't start until this year so I still have time to make at-least two decks of each color.

    Hm I was wondering.

Since the old Urzatron combo is common, wouldn't it be better to drop the reduce the red splash and switch some lands over to that?

And how about Explore or Summer Bloom for the ramping?

Just a few thoughts. I love the eldrazi cards and I'd like to build a viable peasant deck with them.

Summer Bloom is not legal in Pauper because it was only released as an uncommon in the Ninth Edition.

I think I might want to try and add some Lotus Petals to speed the deck up a bit. Delver is already fast but I think a bit more speed might make me enjoy it a bit more. As for Zephyr Sprite, I got sick of nearly everything taking out my Phantasmal bears so that is why I made the swap.
