The End of an Era

Well, I never attempted any online trading in the slightest before the change but the new format got me into online trading. Maybe I'm just a forum noob but it seemed simpler. I didn't do anything other than browse the old trade threads. I don't mind the Curse site but maybe it is because I had been a member of a few other large communities that were already on curse. So from a brand new online trader the new post was the main reason I put my list up. Hopefully it continues to improve.

For those of you still trying to find the Mind Seize's I would also check the front at all my local Targets(by the baseball cards) and would never see them there but when I was buying stocking stuffer's from the toy isle I found 2 Mind Seizes (8 commanders total) at one of the end caps by the lego's where it has all the Pokemon cards.

I went to another local target and found 2 more. So check the end caps in the toy departments as well as the front area by the registers.

As a resident target leader. They should not be on the toy end caps. If they are the store is stocking them in the incorrect area. That said it's 4th quarter and anything and everything happens in retail at this time.

A small update. About a week ago the Target I work at in the greater Seattle area received 3 sets at once. Mind seize sold within a day, Oloro lasted four days. The rest have sold down but there is still bant, jund and naya on the shelf.

I'm only a Flow team member but at my Target here in Cypress, TX (suburb of Houston) only last Friday or Saturday were they on the shelves; a week later than the re-lease date. The same ones are sitting there as of today, with no Mind Seize because someone probably sniped them. But, it looks like they put two of each deck out (except the Naya deck, there's three of it total). Do you think it's safe to say there's more than that in the back?

There shouldn't be. There should be zero cards back stocked ever. They come in and go to the floor and never make it to the back. In a perfect world of course.

If they somehow end up back stocked they'll just sit there until someone finds them and manually takes them out of location. The computer sales triggers won't pull them out. We're on our fourth or fifth shipment at least of the commander decks.

Ahem, so I really just lurk here but as someone that works as a leader at Target, one of the big box stores, I might as well dish out what has happened in my area (greater Seattle, won't be more specific since Target has its own watchdogs).

We've been getting a set of decks in every week since release sometimes two. Our store gets them in on Tuesdays and sometimes if a second set comes Thursdays and they are usually stocked the next day by us.

The distribution company occasionally has a vendor that comes in and puts them out the same day (rarely if ever). The first few weeks they sold out. At this time I picked up a Naya since I let the initial rush go to our guests.

Since then I have picked up 2 mind seize and the Oloro deck, after they have spent some time on the floor of course (company policy have to let our other guests have a fair chance with the item on the floor).

Right now as of today our shelf spot is full of nothing but naya and jund decks. A full set did come in today and trading cards are to be flexed out so they should be forced out somewhere on the trading card wall by tomorrow. Target should in theory never have any stock in the back of these items.

Hope that contributed something I pretty much just lurk.

  • posted a message on what is your first ever deck when you started playing MTG?
Oh man I love threads like this. I started playing when revised came out.

My first deck was monoblue counter controlish. Counterspells, Control Magic, Force Spike, Prodigal Sorcerers, Unsummons and of course Mahamotti Djinn as the finisher. Haha. Later I got my hands on a couple of Kismets and this deck transformed to blue white control with disenchants, swords to plowshares and well I only owned one serra angel. Eventually it ended up with stasis and boomerang in there.

The second deck I played was R/G ramp burn aggro. Juggernauts, Kird Ape, Bolts, Fireball, Lanowar Elves, wild growth, giant growth, shivan dragon, marton stromgald, scryb sprites, force of nature, gaea's leige and killer bees. I eventually tuned it a bit more and added thicket basilisk, cockatrice and lure. Occasionally I would take the red out and add black with Sengir Vampire, dark rituals and carrion ants. Around the time I stopped playing I had picked up some Ghazban Ogres too.

Back then I played an Icy Manipulator and at least one millstone in every deck. I quit and only came back in the last year. A part of me wants to build those decks again for casual. Good times.

Old player here. Old frames all they way, with white borders and no god awful looking foils please. All you shiny deck pimpers are doing it wrong!
