Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured after looking at it a bit more. Thanks gang.
Though I think it would be funny to Doomsday into a Maniac situation but on have the 3rd card be a Divine Intervention and on the last turn the game becomes a draw.
I would remove the "Give all creatures flying" part of your deck and just focus on the Drake tokens.
- 4 Wing Crafter
- 4 Stonybrook
- 3 Student of Elements
+ 1 Augur
- 3 Portent
+ 4 Ponder (same as Portent, quicker draw, can only target yourself)
+ Preordain (works with Ponder, helps you find those Talrands faster)
- 2 Stream of Unconsciousness (not really worth it for the draw)
+1 Talrand's Invocation (this will be your key card, with Talrand, you want all of 'em)
+1 Mana leak
and I'm a big fan of Gitaxian Probe, you get to know what you're opponent is working with, then you can draw a card.
If you want, you can just boost your creature base with drakes, though they're not always the best, mono-Blue flyers can be limited in power and decent cost. Chasm Drake and Peregrine Drake might be worth looking at (Chasm, just because he can help Talrand fly, but I don't really think that's an issue, you mostly want Talrand to sit back and play off your spells, which should be cheap and plentiful). This sort of deck also screams for a set of Delver of Secrets - like Talrand, he plays off your instants and sorceries; he flies, and is a great 1 drop.
Also, for land, Halimar Depths won't speed things up, leave that for Ponder and Preordain. I would just focus on islands, maybe 22? You'd have to get someone else's opinion for non-basic, since I don't know much when it comes to good lands that can help this deck.
I recently acquired a set of doomsday and necropotence, however, black isn't a color I play a lot. I'd love to build a deck around them, but the bulk of my black cards are standard Zombie related dudes, I'm not really sure if I have anything worth using in a non-zombie deck, and even my zombies are slim pickins.
Yeah, I would second (third, forth?) infect decks, but it's Blighted Agent who gets my blood boiling, not glistening elf. At least I can block the elf. But I'd say my second least favorite deck would be Elves tribal.
The problem with Cephalid Constable is that it's a 1/1 and you leave no room for power boosts in your deck. You're paying 3 mana with the hopes that he'll deal 1 point of damage just to bounce 1 permanent. I'd go with sets of Boomerang, Vapor Snag, and maybe 2 or 3 Guttersnipe,
Zebra Unicorn - am a Zebra? No. Am I a unicorn? No.
I am a Zebra Unicorn.
Behold me stacking with lifelink.
Another favorite of mines that i frequently run along side Rhox War Monk. Bant Zoo decks have the most curious (and magical) creatures; Snake-Elf-Druid, anyone? Then you run a set of Spirit Links and Armadillo Cloaks to cast on opposing creatures, you just feel like a Bant god.
It's funny how trade ethics change as you grow older. Now I consider myself a rather nurturing guy, I work teach at a preschool, and I would never dream of ripping off a new Magic player. But when I was a kid and we are all nine years old and cracking boosters - well looking back on it, we were always ripping each other off - we had no concept of monetary value, we were all about the art and the amazing keywords like unblockable, and would offer someone literally any combination of cards for something like Phantom Warrior.
I once traded my friend Zachary 25 cards of his choice just for his Mirri, Cat Warrior just because I thought she was a bamf.
I remember giving my friend Nick a few boosters for his birthday and he cracked a Colossus of Sardia. None of us had ever seen a 9/9 creature before and is was a mad frenzy to cheat Nick out of this card - though we all gave him boosters for his birthday, he had never even played Magic - I manage to walk away with it after trading him I think one of my hundreds of Keldon Warlords. Of course I'd gladly trade a Colossus for a Keldon Warlord any day now, I love those guys on their spindly little legs.
Within my meta Asceticism is great. My friend runs it in his creature-heavy Intet, the dreamer deck and it's always a pain when he manages to play it. It gives meaty zoo deck that added advantage against other types of decks, especially if you're running a lot of utility creatures. None of us really run a lot of board wipes, and given the singleton format, it's hard to get rid of if you're waiting to draw into the one or two disenchant cards in your deck.
I just don't understand what Wizards has against Brushwagg.
In other news: Hasbro is huge. like HUGE. They own a lot of products and a lot of franchises, they have their own television channel and produce their own cartoons. I'm pretty sure Wizards is the least of their worries when it comes to job cuts. Let's just move onto other things.
Holy crud, that guy's gotta find a home in my Order of the Ram's Cap EDH deck. An Angus Mackenzie/Ovinomancer-cap wearing centaur on the body of a buffalo?? Yes please!
As far as my knowledge knows calling Beast on Cavern of Souls won't do anything for suspending Greater Gargadon since the spell isn't cast until the suspend counters are depleted.
Well scratch that then, at least the totally foolproof part. Though if you're casting it after a board wipe, there won't be any mana to counter it anyway.
