Except its just not good enough for constructed, but oh boy, if it hits, it hits really hard and will produce some very funny / sad moments if you get outplayed or miss-time the activation.
The card probably just needed to be more aggresively costed and the ability to be cheaper (or outright free of manacost to abuse its effect with stuff that doubles your lifegain by switchering around its power).
Still like the card, but they really made sure its not a factor in constructed with all its issues.
This card is going to do plenty of work in Standard since it avoids most of the commonly played removal. Modern/Legacy? Not so much.
You guys all be talking about the mechanical aspect of this card, and forgetting the most important part: OH MY GOD LILIANA'S BROTHER IS A CARD AND HE'S A ZOMBIE AND HE'S GONNA BE ON THE BAD GUYS' SIDE AND OH MY GOD LILIANA'S BROTHER IS A CARD.
Or, you know, maybe mechanics are far more important?
Corpseweft has serious potential to swing a game state violently. If 3+ creatures go to graveyard Red and/or red/white decks simply cannot burn 3 6/6 creatures off the table.
That's... not how Corpseweft works. You exile 3 creature cards from your graveyard and you'll get one 6/6 creature. Anyway, Corpseweft is terrible and you absolutely should not be running it here.
Please don't run 3 of every card. Your key cards need to be 4-ofs, always and forever.
Soldier of the Pantheon is not a warrior. Run Dragon Hunter instead.
Utter End belongs in the sideboard, not the main deck. A singleton in the side is fine, but take the other 3 out. Yes, they hit anything besides lands. This is an aggro deck, though - you should be spending your 4th turn killing your opponent, not casting a removal spell.
Your curve is way too high to be running 21 lands.
Get rid of Ultimate Price.
Take Erase out of the side, replace it with Duress and/or Thoughtseize.
I agree with everything you say except one. Ultimate Price is positioned to be very good right now. It will have far more effective targets than Bile Blight. You can look at tourney results and see that for yourself. Yes, we get a couple playable multicolor Dragons now(with only one likely to seesignificant play), but those same creatures survive Bile Blight.
Haha. Milk's price is actually set by state government. It does actually have a minimum price. It does have an actual regulated price. Besides tobacco, this is the worst possible analogy you could have come up with.
I used milk as part of my analogy, and was clearly unaware the price of is regulated. No fault of his.
Regardless, the item I used in my example irrelevant. You can place any non-essential item in its place
But the arguments being made by you, and many others, are based on an MSRP. You are using a specific term to say that price gouging exists, and it's not true. You can't price gouge based on MSRP.
It was very much not easy to read between the lines because the arguments you are all making are moronic and have no basis in reality or logic.
Also, there is an edit button. It is your friend. Use it. Love it.
I meant between the lines of what Ben was saying. I thought that was a basic inference, but I guess I was giving too much credit.
As for the rest of this post, you aren't even worth the time if you can't even follow a simple chain of communication.

ALL prices are MSRP in a capitalist society. ALL.
Stores can charge $1 for a gallon of milk, or $50 for a gallon of milk. It is their choice to charge what they wish and nobody elses. What these places charge is somewhere between $4-$5 depending on region. Why? Because that is the going rate based on mark up & size of the business. Mark up is generally accepted to be somewhere between 50%-100% on most retail items. And smaller businesses don't get the same price breaks the larger ones do. All about volume, you see.
Gouging would be selling at an additional 50% or more of the usual price for an item, or item similar to said item.
I was 100% with you up until you used the word gouging. It is not gouging. Do you know what MSRP stands for? If so you'd know that there is no such thing as gouging if you are using MSRP as a standard.
No, he wasn't. He was defending the higher prices in some instances because the market allowed higher prices because people would pay higher prices.
He used the example of the lower price to disprove people who say that SCG always charges more than EBay. If you're gonna call someone out for missing a point, you should make sure you understand the point that you are claiming was missed. Just an observation though.
And you are playing mind reader, because it's very easy to read between the lines of what he posted.
You don't understand any theories of economics do you?
I understand them just fine, thank you. I also understand that they are theories, not facts. I presented facts.
Modern economics preys on the fact that the modern consumer is lazy and easily mislead, thus most don't hold the companies providing goods & services truly accountable and just accept and pay. The same holds true through our current political & social climate.
Just because I used the word "gouge" in a situation where it is a little out of place doesn't mean I don't have a point or am ignorant.
Though I don't think it's fair to cherry pick examples. For instance, Modern Masters is not the only sealed product we're selling right now; we also have the Strength of Selesnya Event deck on presale at $19.99 each (E-bay low is $20.99) against a $24.99 MSRP. Since this deck isn't as popular as Modern Masters, people ignore that we're lower than the market (or MSRP), but I trot it out here as an example of how we price for demand.
What about the last few pairs of Event Decks where you were way above MSRP? Golgari from RTR and Boros from GTC to be precise. You were well above MSRP on those, because they had more valuable cards than the current Selesnya deck. If the current one had that kind of value, you would be way over MSRP on that too, so your point is essentially invalid.
We have M14 presales going live this Friday; I'd be curious how many people discuss our pricing on that set (it's going to be very aggressive) in the same breath as discussing our price on Modern Masters.
- Ben
let's be honest, If you knew there was going to be serious potential value in M14, your pricing would be no better than RTR or GTC.
In short, you price gouge where you can "get away with it" ie, people will blindly pay it.
And as for any counter point that could be made about selling boxes of cards "below MSRP" on a regular basis and nobody having a problem with it, while there is something too that, that's how buying in bulk is supposed to work. I know you're not Costoco, but still.
In the end it is up to you and those you work with/for to determine what your pricing will be. Nobody can make you charge more or less. They can only choose where they shop. I choose to not support jacked up pricing, so I don't shop with SCG. And trust me, I price check EVERYTHING I buy.
Last night. I shall have many fond memories of last night. The adult-themed sleepover lived up to its promise of alcohol-fueled debaucheries. My wife made a new friend last night: one of my former students, who now apparently has a crush on her. My wide is fairly certain my student has a crush on me as well, but she said it's too awkward for her.
And now I am tired. Not because of the alcohol or the debauchery, but because I'm not young enough to sleep on the floor comfortably.
I'll check in later to see how many more pages have been added.

I was thinking the same thing. This has amazing potential in Standard

All prices are suggested at best in a free market economy.

Just my 2 cents.
May you be in heaven a half hour before the devil know's you're dead!
Yeah, I'm celebrating my heritage. Got a late start. Took the Kiddo's to the parade. Good times.
And this, ladies & gentlemen, is how it's done.
