If you need to attack your opponents graveyard, bring in Illness in the Ranks. You won't be able to make your own snakes, but this can really hurt an opponent's dredge plans. Who knows, I'm interested enough in trying her out though.
I won two prereleases (3-0 in a single elimination midnight, and 4-0 for a smaller swiss event) this weekend and Slivers played a part in both decks. My first deck, the Mana ramping slivers (two of them plus hive stirrings) helped me bring out my Archangel of Thune on turn four most games I saw it. Paired with my 2 soulmenders this card was backbreaking.
My Sunday pre-release was a naya build with a about six or seven slivers, but the ultimate was when I curved out with a capashen knight on turn two followed by a blur sliver, bonescyth sliver, and finally a battle sliver on turns 3, 4, and 5. This was too much for my opponent to handle, especially since he used his removal on my knight. I only had this mega curve once, but most of my wins in that second tournament were thanks to slivers in some way.
The 3/3 is relevent in most green guilds. Even thought it's obviously designed for Selesnya, you would probablypick this card in Simic, Golgari, or Gruul mid to late pack.
I knew I'd be brushing off that Selesnya Deck . . . Just knew it! With reasonable ramp (which is already abundant in GW and I expect we'll see at least one more mana enabler in green) we can see this turn 4, follow up with a collective blessing and swing away.
Board wipes are still a pain, but you can cast again later after all the life gain Trostani would give you.
Decent at uncommon as you won't have to draft for decades to get a chance to play it, but it's not quite reliable enough to force Selesnya (I do look forward to draftin selesnyos, though!)
I was starting to worry, is this the first spoiled card with a guild keyword? I started to fear they'd dropped the keywords for some reason.
In other news, she's awesome . . . love the artwork too.
The reason I see evolve sticking out (especially in limited) is that it gives some staying power to your early drops. You're not going to see a whole lot of utility one drops in draft or sealed, so why not throw in a guy that will get bigger as you continue to drop your creatures. Also: throw in Corpsejack Mennace and that makes me just giddy for playing with my buddies.
Two releases, I'm going to start with Gruul for sure. I like the idea of splashing boros OR simic depending on my pull. Who knows though, a buddy of mine didn't even end up playing the guild he chose in RTR because the rest of his cards didn't support it.
For my second tourney, who knows, I'll probably judge it based on the decks I play for the first tournament. Very excited though, sealed is my favorite format!
Wow, this card is intense. I've been thinking Naya since I realized Gruul and Boros were entering Standard together. Funny that they're already seeing a ressurgence in my meta, this could get out of hand, but I'm game.
These bloodrush cards do some interesting things to your mana curve. Do you place this as a two drop instant, or a 4 drop creature (my gut says creature, but I don't want to give up a creature spot to something that might not end up being used that way) I'm having lots of fun dreaming up uses for this guy. I will be sad if I fail to pull this uncommon in my prerelease pool!
A fine answer to life gain deck, I think that this guy would make Rhox Faithmender poop his pants. I think some people will find a way to put this in standard for my FNM (probably as a "cool stuff" reanimation target), but I don't see it making a huge impact. I will say this: I want this card in every limited pool!
What I loved most about RTR was the prerelease style. Up until the last cycle I really only played casual, so I don't have a lot of experience with pre-release events, but I loved the Return to Ravnica Pre-Releases. That is what I'm most excited about, choosing a couple of guilds that first weekend and playing some sealed goodness. There are some really decent cards so far, and I've got my hopes up. It's really hard to judge any of the mechanics without seeing the whole set, as the commons/uncommons that have yet to be spoiled will really tell us how useful they are. Still, I'm absolutely amazed that this game still exists, is still as exciting as ever (and expensive as ever!), Wizards has my admiration for what they've done.
I'm feeling rubblehulk because the deck he wins with is going to be easier to build. You'll almost always have a strong assortment of creatures in his color to support him as a late bomb or as a bloodrush spell. Also, depending on the what red burn spells we see, those cards always treat me well in limited. That said, I hope to attend at least two prereleases and am not sure what other guild to play.
One other thing, it happened to me one out of three times at RTR that my 5 other packs hardly even supported my guild and I went with non guild colors, did that happen to anyone else?

I don't think it's as bad as everyone's making it out to be, but I play in an experiment friendly meta.
