Yeah... This sucks. is r/peasantcube an option? It basically only links here anyway. I'm curious about this new thing they're doing for when this place closes down too.
I think our red 2s are good enough that you can just play whatever you want and it'll be fine. There are some minor synergy based ones tucked in too for diversity. I think I like this new guy more than war-name aspirant though.
Pondering Mage is interesting. Steep mana cost, but decent body and an amazing ETB effect for those who like to abuse them... Might trade out Tandem Lookout for it.
i'm not that interested in it tbh, pondering at five mana is pretty bad considering we have stuff like mulldrifter and murder of crows available at the same mana cost. the 3/4 body is actually reasonable in blue but i think tandem lookout is a crazy cut for it. but i'm a massive fan of lookout so.
treefolk does look like it will be busted af in its limited environment, and the monstrosity caterpillar seems pretty decent as well honestly. if you can afford snow basics instead of normal basics, treefolk looks like a pretty strong contender for the #1 simic card.
My Red is curve out aggro and my black is aristocraty :/... I mean I could also cut rakdos cackler but I like having two power 1 drops in both colours.
play angrath and cackler as red cards, and redcap as a black card then. easy.
I also thought about replacing Burning-tree emissary with Samut but she doesn't protect herself at all and encourages not leaving back creatures to block. Plus 4 mana is a bit too much to get the advantage of the haste but perhaps your cube is a little higher curve than mine
i think protecting our planeswalkers will be a bit unnecessary with a few exceptions (notably saheeli i think), simply because they don't function like normal ones. they have no uptick to a game winning ultimate.
anyway i think the strength of samut's +2/+1 is being overlooked quite a lot. sure it costs one more than fires but it can basically have the fires activation five times, plus a scry which is big game for an aggressive deck looking to close out the game. i think this card will do a lot to break through board stalls, which i think is what i want out of a four mana card in red.
however, doing this completely messes up my hybrids, and i also realised the +1/+1 counter green cards don't actually do as much as i thought they did... so might need to see if i have any good cards to add to support a counters archetype before i go ahead and do that. oops.
i think probable includes are:
evolution sage
flux channeler
jiang yanggu
kasmina
kiora (easy swap for snakeform)
mowu, loyal companion
pollenbright druid
saheeli (easy swap for nucklavee, also my favourite card in the set so far)
and ones that i'll have to have hard words to myself about:
angrath
cruel celebrant (will also include zulaport cutthroat if this goes in)
eternal taskmaster (if i did black aggro i think this would be snap include)
leyline prowler (super efficient but not sure if it topples any of the graveyard synergy cards i have in golgari)
mayhem devil
nahiri (i still do not know how to feel about her)
paradise druid (is this better than any llanowar elf variant?)
samut
i really like saheeli, and am glad to continue going ham on the spellslinger deck, cos it's my favourite.
jaya honestly doesn't seem that bad, she's just one mana too expensive imo.
dovin doesn't seem that great to me, i don't think bubbling things is very strong considering the removal suite available to us, and the tax is not really something i want i think.
kasmina seems like she does a ton of work. a baseline of slow talrand's invocation with a trade of evasion for looting is ok, and protecting your whole board from removal is pretty good honestly.
i still like jiang yanggu and kiora the most, but i could definitely see myself running samut, tibalt, angrath, and nahiri. they're just so hard to evaluate...
i'm not sure about individual cards atm, but what i like about this set so far is it's making me think a lot, which i really appreciate. i feel like there's been a few sets recently where there's been one standout card and not a lot else, but here we have to evaluate planeswalkers for the first time and it's nice and different.
i think tempo based decks with evasive creatures might benefit from it. definitely makes cards like looter il-kor that much better since the damage becomes that bit more relevant. idk if anyone runs pingers that aren't gelectrode and co anymore though.

anyone run zombie tribal? cos this card seems spicy as hell for it.
Undead Augur - BB
Creature - Zombie Wizard
Whenever ~ or another Zombie you control dies, you draw a card and you lose 1 life.
2/2
also there was a basic only fetchland spoiled but it's rare. ;_;
play angrath and cackler as red cards, and redcap as a black card then. easy.
plus reprints of lava dart and choking tethers.
personally, martyr's soul looks awesome to me. potentially free 5/4 is something that sounds like good value.

kasmina, enigmatic mentor > sun ce, young conqueror
aven eternal > gitaxian probe
dreadmalkin > nantuko husk
lazotep reaver > doomed dissenter
tibalt, rakish instigator > empty the warrens
cruel celebrant > drana's emissary
zulaport cutthroat > curse of disturbance
kiora, behemoth beckoner > snakeform
mayhem devil > cauldron dance
saheeli, sublime artificer > nucklavee
samut, tyrant smasher > burning-tree emissary

cuts are still the bane of my existence though.
