i think losing instant speed on the cast mode on boon of the wish-giver makes it not so good compared to opportunity. though that cycling is super good.

i don't like reconnaissance mission, nor do i like primal empathy. i never liked coastal piracy, and primal empathy is hard to break into a gold slot.

flourishing fox looks insane, but i'm not sure how deep we can go on cycling cards. might have to check.

chittering harvester looks kinda good. 5 mana 4/6, with an edict tacked on. seems like a decent defensive creature, but i'm not sure if it forces anything out really.

auspicious starrix is actually not bad, since it is your classic ramp target with immediate value, and if you're playing a ramp deck it might just get insane value and come with another big dumb creature. a base 5 mana 6/6 is all good too.

i like call of the death-dweller a lot, but i would need to look at my kind of average value. if i ran black aggro i think i'd like it a lot more, since it seems good there.

dreamtail heron as a 3/4 flying cantrip for 4 looks very nice, but otherwise very sad. i guess i should be evaluating these mutate creatures as if they mutate because looks like otherwise they're just vanilla.

glowstone recluse looks super good honestly, it's at least a 4/5 reach for 4. can just be a pump spell for an evasive dude as well which seems pretty good. might just be a worse leafcrown dryad though.

cavern whisperer as a 4 mana 4/4 menace with discard... might not be too bad either.

trumpeting gnarr is kinda like a simic crested herdcaller minus trample, so maybe not so great, but definitely not terrible.

lots of cards which feel almost there but not quite.

mutate could be alright, i feel like the mechanic is fine, but i'm just gunna take it on a card-by-card basis.

sprite dragon looks super strong. 2 mana flying haste prowess, except the prowess is just +1/+1 counters. seems insane.

grimdancer looks pretty nuts too. feels just below nighthawk in power level, which is a pretty great spot to be in still.

void beckoner is a big boi, and the cycling combat trick looks like pretty good value honestly. feels like a card that plays well in black, guess it really depends how you value reanimation. all of these huge creatures with deathtouch is still dumb imo.

this is my source. apparently hasbro actually has godzilla rights.

i guess we'll find out more in a couple of days anyway.

so i'm bored as ****, waiting for spoiler season to FINALLY start. looks like we have a couple of cards to look at.

godzilla, primordial champion (titanote rex) 7GG
    creature - beast dinosaur (u)
    trample
    cycling 1G
when you cycle ~, put a trample counter on target creature you control.
    ?/? (p/t obscured)

king caesar, ancient guardian (huntmaster tiger) 3W
    creature - cat (u)
    mutate 2W
whenever this creature mutates, other creatures you control get +x/+x until end of turn, where x is the number of this creature's mutations.
    3/4

not sure what mutate does yet but the cat might be strong? and i guess godzilla depends on its p/t a little but i think it's probably bad.

my probable inclusions, if i can find appropriate cuts:

    anax, hardened in the forge
    chainweb aracnir
    irreverent revelers
    renata, called to the hunt

i'm ok with a short list. there are a bunch of strong looking cards in their draft format that just won't carry over to cube, and that's fine. we get some goodies.

also, thundering chariot seems close to cubeable. if it was a 4/4 it definitely would be, but at 3/3 i'm still thinking about it.

renata and anax both look very solid imo. a grumgully even for one more mana but single coloured is pretty nice looking, even if the body might be a little below curve depending on the board. anax i think compares very favourably to pawn of ulamog, since the tokens actually have power, and the body itself is better.

eutropia looks pretty nice too, but i'm not sure constellation is a reliable enough trigger to be worth adding, especially in a nonwhite guild.

    spoiler season woo.

archon of falling stars looks pretty strong as a 6 mana 4/4 flying with a death trigger that can be pretty relevant. getting back a removal spell or a big enchantment creature (if you run stuff like the archetypes) is good value.

stinging lionfish is interesting, especially as a 2 mana 2/1. absolutely no idea how good it is though. at very least it can be a great defensive creature.

drag to the underworld is an efficient removal spell, but not super good in control in theory, so honestly might be a good addition just as a removal spell that isn't a braindead autoinclude.

nyx herald as a 3/4 trample for 3 alone is pretty strong, but i'm pretty sure that's all it's ever gunna be. i don't think it needs to spread the buff though, being ahead of the curve is strong enough.

blood aspirant is expensive and slow, but it actually does a ton at once; grows itself, pings, and forces through damage. probably too slow for us but i wouldn't be surprised if it's actually super good.

rebirth for glory is a strong 2 for 1 but i don't think its value is maximised in cube. getting back a dude + a pacifism seems great though.

pharika's spawn's escape side looks absurd. i think this is definitely cubeable as a pretty excellent late game grinder.

chainweb aracnir still looks awesome to me. probably still the standout card along with the gorgon.

reverent hoplite looks as terrible as its predecessor in og theros.

mire triton does a lot of small things well, and is also a deathtouching 2/1 for 2. solid body, solid effect.

devourer of memory is super interesting and honestly looks strong af. i dig how self mill isn't strictly golgari now, since other colours didn't really have that much payoff before.

escape velocity is a pretty cool fires spinoff. not sure how it compares to reckless charge, or even just fires in general.

brine giant gives pillowfort a good card if anyone supports that?

daxos looks like pretty good value, and a great defensive creature. i think vigilance would be too much to ask for but man how good...

i think i like the look of the spider a lot, being a resilient body with etb value, and it's not even overcosted coming from the graveyard which is nice.

the rest of the cards look pretty marginal, but could see room for them in larger cubes for sure.

my thoughts now that we have the full spoiler:

venerable knight: if i need another 2/1 for 1, this will be my guy.
hypnotic sprite: flexible but not sure if it stacks up well against anything i currently run.
foulmire knight: basically phyrexian rager with deathtouch for 1 more mana, but also not at the same time? idk, i'm not sure if i need this guy.
order of midnight: obviously a strong card, but i don't support black aggro, so i feel like this one isn't for me.
syr konrad, the grim: i like the effect, and the body is rather large. i could see switching up one of my blood artist effects for this guy.
embereth shieldbreaker: a more flexible manic vandal. might just be a straight swap.
mad ratter: i REALLY want this card to be good, but i feel like you just have to jump through so many hoops on a 4 mana 1/2. you get a ton of value out of the trigger but just not in a realistic way i think.
beanstalk giant: ramp and fatty in one card. both modes are expensive but it just does everything a ramp deck wants to do, albeit slowly.
keeper of fables: i feel like this can pretty reliably trigger, and the body is fine. just a shame that green 5s are actually quite strong, and have plenty of etbs, so it's hard to compare this against the rest really.
syr faren, the hengehammer: it's a cc bear which isn't ideal, but the effect is strong, especially with equipment. i think this is a sweet green aggro card.
grumgully, the generous: just provides good value at a good rate. big fan of it.
savvy hunter: this card seems reasonably strong. i don't think it slides into my cube, but it's a pretty simple way to get card advantage in golgari.
heraldic banner: i think this card is low key powerful, but i'm not sure what kind of decks want it. still think i'll find room though.
sorcerer's broom: i think 3 mana might be too much sadly. love the card otherwise.

probably not going to end up actually adding much, but the set looks fun as hell to draft.

tbh overwhelmed apprentice makes me think more about whether i should cut omenspeaker for faerie seer than actually adding it.

syr allin is worse than the cheaper anthem effects imo, but a 4/4 first striker is a big boy. i think we have better curve toppers still.

syr faren looks sick. it is gg but i think the effect is super powerful, and a good role player in green aggro.

sorcerer's broom is a card that i like a lot, but 3 mana is a ton. i could see myself finding room for it.

epic downfall is a solid card, even at sorcery speed it competes with the big boy removal spells imo.

grumgully, the generous: 20/74 of my green and red creatures are human. 3/3 for 3 is a good base body, and the ability seems good. i can see cutting voltaic brawler for this easily.

venerable knight is another good 2/1 for 1, but i only run 4 other knights atm so i feel like it's generally gunna be vanilla. obviously this set could change that number though.

hypnotic sprite seems good and flexible. it's an expensive counterspell, but this card seems like it plays very differently on the draw vs on the play, so the choice is very useful imo. and an evasive body is obviously welcome.

enchanted carriage compares pretty poorly to renegade freighter and untethered express imo but it's not terrible.

i really like covetous urge, but i'm a sucker for unique uncommon effects. quad hybrid isn't too terrible since it's basically just a flexible gold card, and the effect is definitely powerful, especially if you nab a card from their hand.

so far i dig this set, even if not for cube, just general play looks like it'll be great.

i'm really curious as to whether any of the adamant cards are gunna get there for us. ccc is a big deal in limited, so it'd have to be pretty strong, which we might not even get at uncommon. but we shall see, i'm definitely interested in the mechanic since it is just so simple but deep.

foulmire knight and order of midnight look like solid adventures, since they're inherent 2 for 1s. evaluating them against other cube cards will be tricky though.

syr konrad is an interesting effect which does have some redundancy, and also is on a big body for a change. makes reassembling skeleton just ridiculous in the aristocrat style deck since it triggers twice.

maraleaf pixie is stupidly efficient but idk if i even want it to fill a guild slot.

there are some less obvious enchantment cards, like aerie worshippers and pheres-band raiders for example. but overall i think the archetype is too parasitic, especially the payoff cards.
