Cloudpost and Glimmerpost function with eachother, both having the Locus subtype. I believe the idea is that Cloudpost is the more interesting land, so if 'post' needs to be nerfed, Glimmerpost could be banned to limit the effectiveness of Cloudpost while leaving it in the format.
Having thought a little about it, this would work. However, it is a case of "banning the enabler". Of the two locus lands, it's clearly Cloudpost that's broken, not Glimmerpost.
Probably more people would be happy to still be able to play with Cloudpost without Glimmerpost than the reverse, though.
I am still half-expecting a B&R announcement that doesn't mention Pauper at all.
Not cool to post that if you were in the beta. Stupid of wotc also of course.
Yes, shame on them for making the information available to everyone instead of only a select few. They might have been able to make a profit on it, right, wilmheath?
BonSequitur, I'm looking at your sig and thinking you might be regarding post through rose colored glasses...
Unlike you, I don't claim any certainty as to what the format will look like if cards are banned. I do believe that the locus lands are far and away the best nonbasics in pauper, though, and I would be very happy to bid them farewell.
If you just ban Cloudpost and leave Fissure in the format, in two weeks this will be a format of Familiar Storm decks and anti-Familiar Storm decks.
I might say the reverse: If only Fissure is in the format (edit: rather, if only Fissure is BANNED, my bad.), in two weeks, the format will still be dominated by 8post decks. I personally hope both are banned, but if only one is, my vote is to kick Cloudpost to the curb.
Maybe they'll piss everyone off and ban nothing, or just Glimmerpost. I can hardly stand the tension!
... and two out of three control decks in this format don't play Cloudpost. The existence of one Cloudpost control deck hasn't pushed other forms of control out of the format.
The results don't agree with you. (Don't take my word for it- Check the pie charts in these articles, based on the only data available, MTGO daily events.) While I am told Familiar Storm has a comparable win % to Fissure Post, it doesn't receive as much play. Fissure Post dominates in spite of every other deck hating on it, while Familiar Storm is practically rogue by comparison.
Note, too, that Cloudpost is more than capable of powering a dominant deck without Temporal Fissure, while it's by no means proven that the opposite is true.
(Note that mono-black control has a lot more game against Familiar Storm, since it doesn't gain life off its lands and its mana accel dies to creature kill, not land destruction.)
I wouldn't mind playing against Temporal Fissure if it wasn't backed by what are head and shoulders the best lands in the format.
I am hoping hard that cloudpost gets the ban, since its legality casts a pall over any attempt to brew a pauper control deck.
8post is so obviously better than any other land base in pauper that insults my intelligence to build around it. Consequently, I'll continue to lose frequently to it until it is banned. I have been playing Gruul landkill, but that's kind of a hate deck and not all that fun.
"Play it or lose to it." is how I would summarize 8post in Pauper.
I thought Wizards didn't want us to maindeck Stone Rain?
Just noticed that Krosan Wayfarer not only gives you a third turn Imperiosaur, he also helps make Festerhide Boar a 5/5 for 3G on the third turn.
Also, if you're running Brainstorm in Simic colors, you might want to try Coiling Oracle. He also plays the basic ramp game, and he digs past garbage that Brainstorm sticks on the top of your library.
Very nice deck, Kangas. I especially like the use of Leonin Squire as a white Harvest Wurm (and beyond!). As Tom the Scud mentioned, Yoke of the Damned also sees good use here.
It seems to me that a singleton Shade's Form could do some dirty things in this deck, but it might be win-more.
Also, are there any important threats that Lingering Death is better against than Yoke of the Damned? I can't think of any offhand, but it might be worth considering if indestructible/regeneration is relevant.
Update: Dead Weight vs. Yoke of the Damned is a big deal vs. Kiln Fiend or Atog. Voice of experience there.

Maybe he can be friends with Blastoderm.

Looks like it will be the 23rd, a Monday.

Bolded for emphasis. This is why post should be banned.
Believe it or not, Tron lands were once playable in control decks. Hard to believe, I know.
Will singles become much more expensive, much less expensive, or not change much?
I have a few tix and I am wondering if I should spend them now or hold on to them.
For example, if I only wanted to see the new cards from Magic 2014?

No you won't.
