Hi, at your earliest convenience can I get lists for Feldon of the Third Path and Yisan, the Wanderer Bard?

I'd also like an updated list for Grimgrin, Corpse Reborn and one for Gisa and Geralf but the latter only has three lists so don't waste your time probably.

    Thank you in advance!

Stonewright is a decent grab for Aurelia since giving her fire breathing through Soulbond really has an impact through multiple attack phases.

Salvage Scout is also a great way to recur an equipment card back to your hand for use especially since it's not a tap ability.

Nova Cleric gives you an enchantment board wipe after a turn.

Any deck that can easily abuse creature recursion and wants a control element (UBx creature control decks) should run Silumgar Sorcerer. Even just sacrificing itself is worth the potential upside of an easily recurring creature counterspell. Amazing synergy is with Phyrexian Reclamation which makes it read 2UUB, Pay 2 Life: Counter target creature spell. Not amazing but a lot of great value can be had. It's also a Skullclamp target, a flying blocker, and/or evasive creature that can trigger on-hit triggers easily.

In defense to MaRo, his video game analogy was probably just meant to primarily address the asker's last comment about rare cycles. That and the fact that most askers wanted a wedge block instead of a single wedge set.

On topic, I believe there will be some form of Sarkhan in DTK and I wouldn't be surprised to see him as RUG but when someone undergoes that much change... Any combination of R U G is possible. I welcome the thought of a Planeswalker in one of my favorite Wedges though.

Consecrated Sphinx is the only thing really in my meta. I just get tired of seeing it because there's usually only 3 scenarios with it:

    1. It dies almost immediately.
    2. It gets cloned once or multiple times. All players without one just basically lost.
    3. It lives and the player draws into counterspells and combos and wins.

Without removal it's just inevitable to end the game. There's plenty of other cards like this but most of them cost more than 6 mana. Oh well, he's really not too bad and my meta is pretty legit with most of the other culprits mentioned here lol.

  • posted a message on I love the IDEA of commander. The execution, not so much.
    1. I believe this should be changed as it doesn't really make much sense even from a flavor stand point. As the "general" if I steal someone else's mana production resource, why would it suddenly not produce colored mana for me? I guess some argument can be made but all the rule really does is prevent most players from fully utilizing some cards. The restrictions imposed seem unnecessary and without them more cards, plays, and interesting scenarios would probably arise.
    2. It sort of bothers me to see half a green mana symbol in a mono-red EDH but hybrid cards are suppose to be cards that can exist within both colors according to the color pie sort of like Fog and Holy Day. But the color identity of a hybrid card is both colors so according to the color identity rule that no one wants changed, the card isn't allowed. The current hybrid rule is really just superfluous and helps clarify a confusing case. Changing it would actually be adding an "exception" to another rule just for flavor purposes and falls back on your original argument of having too many "arbitrary and clunky" rules.
    3. Changing from 21 to 20 is really a toss up. A bit nicer to see a round number and to explain the rule but you inadvertently buff commanders with powers 4 and 5 for niceties. Honestly not sure what I'd want here. Probably don't care in the long run. Though it is cool that right now 3 power kills in 7 hits, 4 power in 6, 5 in 5, 6 in 4, and 7 in 3 heh.
    4. Commander probably shouldn't have a rule specifically treating Wishes different in this format. Just do away with the unnecessary rule and go off the standard one. Any problems you can just address per game/group.
    5. Addressed above, whoever told you otherwise was incorrect.

While these threads are fun to respond to, they don't really foster that much conversation. People just drop in, have fun posting their own lists, and dip out. That being said...

Is your list up on the site? I'm interested in building a grindy Sidisi deck. She seems like the queen of incrimental advantage. I love Mimeo to death, but he's associated a lot with BUG Goodstuff and I'm looking for different directions.

While it might not spawn great discussion, it certainly inspires creativity and stokes the imagination!

Sadly, I do not have my list on the forums yet. I've been meaning to and will try to soon. Both my lists are on tappedout though and I am in the process of changing my Pest Control to Brooding Resources because I also was inspired by Sidisi. Mimeoplasm is great graveyard hate and a versatile/strong threat but many cards reanimate better (don't exile) but Sidisi on the other hand actively increases the number of resources at the deck's command by putting cards in the yard and bodies on the field. I'm eager to give her a try. I'm also updating and adding a bit more threat density to the list and more versatile creature answers along with some of the new cards from Khans.

@Everyone Else - Thank you all for taking the time to post your decks. I've immensely enjoyed reading the amazing decks and their unique or efficient approaches to the format. Loving the unique decks using cards like Angel of Glory's Rise, Giant Growth, and more. Reminds me why I love playing this game so much.

All questions about your favorite EDH you've ever built; retired or active. You can explain more than one if you can't pick your favorite child.

    • Who is the general?
    • If the deck has a name, what is it?
    • If the deck has a theme or unique idea, what is it?
    • What archetype(s) does the deck fit in?
    • Why do you like it so much?
    • Optional: What are example ways you win or the most fun way you've won?

    My Favorite:

I'm just interested in hearing about the ruthless, silly, awesome, etc decks that make people love this format so much.

P.S. - Funny that I don't see this kind of thread more often but maybe I just miss them.

Do NOT just think in the way to react with control decks. You have way less reaction cards, or methods to get those cards, than a control deck's number of solutions. Even you have Rootborn Defenses/Fresh Meat in your hand waiting, control players will just say thank you for your 3~4 open mana wasted in every of your turns. Think of the play style that control decks fear most: Repeating threats outnumbering their solutions, and you have to switch to this play style right after you realize the man sitting across the table is a control player.

For your question, if you want one card to help you fight with BOTH tax+wipe, may I introduce Mirari's Wake:
    - No it does not destroy tax enchantments, but it make you ignore them by providing extra mana to pay as much tax as required.
    - No it does not protect your creatures, but it let you laugh at the wipes by casting double number of threats right after everytime he wipe your board

Besides tax+wipe it helps you fight control:
    - It gives your tokens and nontoken creatures +1/+1 boost
    - It makes land-ramp spells terrifying good. Oh my free Skyshroud Claim/Garruk Wildspeaker. Not counter this huh?
    - It double-powers your token generators(Ant queen/Mobilization/Sacred Mesa)
    - It enables you to play supersized X spells (Token: Entreat the Angels/Decree of Justice/White Sun's Zenith, Nontoken: Genesis wave/Genesis hydra/Martial Coup/Green Sun's Zenith/Chord of calling). Say "COUNTER THIS OR DIE!"
    - It lets you cast less spells before your control opponent is forced to wipe the board, and you rebuild faster than anyone
    - It supports you to put threats and repeatingly recast your general till the control player run out of gas
    - It is good for both early and late game.
    - It is never a dead card outside control matchups.

Drawback: Your 1/1 tokens become un-skullcamp-able lol

Also suggest Beastmaster Ascension. Once the quest is activated, just keep one to few creatures on board attacking and control players will run out of removals/counterpells very soon.

This is the best answer. Don't try to play aggro like control. Their control will win. Instead, put out more pressure. Don't over extend. You are leading the game.

The reason aggro is less prevalent in EDH is that once it;s more than 1v1, it's harder to keep the aggro up to kill the table. That's where playing and tutoring smarter is key. You could even go the red/white control route and blow up lands once you are set up. Those are usually a nail in the coffin.

These are the best responses here. Don't devote cards trying to "control" the control players. That's not what you are. Play a high density of threats that either generate pseudo-card advantage (such as tokens) or are "must answer or die".

I play regularly in a heavy blue metagame (70% of decks) and my Naya Token deck wins very regularly. You can check it out here if you are interested. Sorry for the tappedout link.

  • posted a message on [[CNS]] Announcing - MTG: GVYJTHQXGR (Conspiracy)
Well, I believe it may be related to Conspiracy. The poster has over 1000+ posts and it has appeared two nights in a row now after midnight for only a short duration. Attempts to navigate to the URL during daytime yields a "Forbidden" response. Also, when it appeared again last night, it was the same exact thread as the time stamp on it was from a day previous. So it was hidden twice and revealed once so far by mods; not deleted.

I'm going to just go ahead and post up the pic I took (sorry mobile). If it's not allowed, please feel free to delete the image mods and I apologize.

Uploaded to TinyPic since I couldn't find a way to upload to here on an iPhone

EDIT: Here is the thread link in case it helps HERE

Are we able to talk about the magical thread about reworking kitchens here in the Rumor Mill that pops up around midnight every night then vanishes within a couple of hours? I took a screenshot of the important posts in it but not sure what the policy is since the mods apparently hide it during the day. Surprised no one has mentioned it yet or did I just miss the post? Let me know it you want me to post it up and if I can.

With Commander being supported rather heavily now, I think this was a silly blunder by Wizards.

Sadly it wasn't a blunder. I lost the link but it's been said on Mark Rosewater's blog that they would of liked it to be legendary but it was impossible as the type/subtype text would not fit on the card with the addition of the word "Legendary". It has also been mentioned that there are no other legendary enchantment creatures within the block except for the Gods due to this same reason; creature type "God" barely fit.

I think we all would of loved the Chromanticore as a potential general. Sigh.

I like the Dwarven Demolisher idea. I'm surprised they haven't printed more cards with similar ideas. Even something easily killed but aggressively costed such as

    Goblin Landtaxer 2
    Creature - Goblin
Each player may only play one land per turn. If an effect would put an additional land onto the battlefield, destroy that land.
    1/1

Or something along those lines. I'm sure others could balance and perfect it. I like the idea behind limiting specific players based off their actions that turn so it specifically targets ramp.

  • posted a message on All the good zombie cards
I have played both Grimgrin, Corpse-Born and now Balthor the Defiled and Balthor is WAY more of a house. The raw power having a semi-Zombie Apocalypse sitting in the command zone is both flavorful and sometimes unbeatable.

My decklist is sadly only on TappedOut right now but I plan on moving it here. Here's a link though A Short Story About Zombies and hopefully it's okay to post here.

Cards like No Rest for the Wicked, Cover of Darkness, and Phyrexian Reclamation are all great flavorful cards plus all the aforementioned ones too.

Zombie are one of the most resilient and fun tribes to pilot IMO so good luck!

  • posted a message on anyone else not receive their decks?
I don't think you have to worry about it. Commander 2013 is not even close to a limited print run. The LGS you ordered from will most likely receive more of the product in a week or two. After that if you don't get the decks then I'd be a little worried.

I assume you kept your receipt though. Worse comes to worse you get a refund and go buy them from Walmart or Target for $150 + tax. Just might take a little more effort.

Oh and if you didn't keep the receipt, friendly advice is in the future to always keep receipts for product you have yet to receive or high priced purchases. You really can't go wrong with that; trust me, I know.
