    If they do go the unban route they may unban Twin. It seems like they’ve printed a lot of twin hate recently:

    Not only that, but we’ve never seen a meta with Fatal Push and Twin.

    But I expect they’ll go the ban route instead.

    As long as Looting powers up different types of deck (as hogaak/dredge and phoenix are), Wizzie won't ban it.
    There won't be any emergency ban. It would crash the already small confidence some people have in Wizards. At end of August probably Hogaak summer will end and a new meta will come. Then Eldraine come and we will reset the meta again. Stagnant is not what modern has been recently!

    DRS was played in Jund, Pod, dredge, elves, etc. and it got the ban.

    So basically tribals:

    • white -> knights
    • blue -> faeries
    • green -> elves
    • red -> ???
    • black -> ???

    there is a new multi-cost mechanic with a storybook like frame in cards.
    I was thinking Sagas would be nice in this set as they go with the stories, but the create multi-cost mechanic seems to be this.
    Willing to bet there will be a strong sub-theme on equipment / artifacts
    as swords and grails and other artifacts are important in Arthurian legends.

    Maro said people are making too big of a deal about faeries, and most fairy tales only feature a few characters, not large tribes.

    Creature types could include knights, soldiers, clerics, Advisors, archers, assassins, beasts, bears, cats, faeries, elementals, dragons, frogs, horrors, Warriors, Merfolk, elves, Humans, Wolves, Wizards, walls, unicorns, snakes, treefolk, serfs, rogues, rats, etc.

    neat art. Looking forward to Core 2020.
    Maybe we will get another good Chandra card?

    I hope there would be more support for snow in this set.

    If they decided that Snow Basics were too "powerful" for Standard, it's unlikely we'll see Snow Permanents. And this goes for people hoping for Viking World with Snow too.

    When did they say snow basics were too powerful for standard? That doesn’t even make any sense considering they decide what cards are snow support and what cards are snow hate for a set. That’s like saying that artifact creatures are too powerful for standard.

    That thing definitely looks like an ice or snow elemental to me, and if we’re going to Viking land, snow basics make sense.

    And yeah, Chandra looks to be the future of Magic. She’s the star of the comic, the Netflix series, and Core 2020.

    The TLDR for those just joining:

    Urza is basically the Batman of the MTG franchise, with the same caveats, story templating, moral ambiquity and everything else that people adore about DC's 'Dark Knight'.

    Fin.

    Urza has magical powers in addition to his wits and machinery. Also he created an entire race, lived for centuries, and would have no issue killing the Joker.

    I was always under the impression that the reason Wizards led with human planeswalkers was that they were popular because people could find pieces of themselves so to speak in these characters. As an example with the new set Ral Zarek is revealed to be in a realtionship to Tomik, appealing to that demographic. Narset has Autism, Gideon shows classic signs of recovery from abuse and tragedy, Huatli is inspired by an area of Latin America. Things like that are why I thought they were more prominent?

    I'm not buying that. As a father who has to travel for work sometimes I can relate to Angrath. As someone who has lost friends and made mistakes I can relate to Karn. People who are judged for looking rough or their race and are tough but have a kind heart under that exterior can relate to Vraska. They had an female Gruul Ogre who had a female Ogre ex in the Gruul story. My favorite story was Izzet, which featured a human who ended up as a Simic experiment gone wrong(or right, depending on your perspective). The Ixalan Vampires are inspired by Spanish Conquistadors.

    In fact, Sci/Fi and Fantasy have always done a good job of portraying human issues using nonhumans. Kirk slept with a green alien in Star Trek to show that interracial love can be a beautiful thing. The very first interracial kiss ever on TV was on Star Trek. In LOTR a Dwarf and Elf become good friends and reevaluate their racist stances. Gollum represents people with addiction issues. The X-men is all about how we shouldn't judge or be afraid of people who are different than us.

    Maybe this has been pointed out allready, but have to ask.

    Does the new art for Path to Exile depict Gideon vs. Rakdos???

    I find this wierd since we just saw Unlikely Aid.

    That card shows Gideon vs. Demonlord Belzenlok.

    So there’s no card for Jace restoring Vraska’s memory and her turning on Bolas after all that buildup on Ixalan?

    Yeah but she did that all to herself. She has no friends cause she was a monster. She is in her certain situation cause was dumb. She made a deal with Bolas and 4 Demons and didn't think it go bad?

    None of her recent Heroics have been altrustic. I mean Bolas stuffed Lesherac into a time rift that doesnt make him a hero. Much like Lili isn't a hero for killing Demons to get out of a deal she doesnt like and turning on Bolas cause she doesnt like being controlled. She is not doing cause she is good she is doint it cause it helps her.

    Define grossly evil cause I think what she did to Thalia was pretty gross.

    A Mary Sue is the smartest person in the world. You calling her dumb proves that she isn’t a Mary Sue. Mary Sues also always save the day, and would never do anything grossly evil.

    Welp. I was expecting all these new young walkers (and specifically Domri, who we met as a child) to be the focus of the story after this all settled out. That's apparently a big nope.

    On the other hand, maybe this is a way to clean up the saturation of planeswalkers in RG.

    They should quit flooding the colour pair then, stop feeding us creatures based designs that are insanely dull...

    They should give us a RG Kavu Legend instead of a 6th RG planeswalker.
