    Dear Tron players,

I am relatively new to Modern (and Magic in general), and after reviewing some of the popular deck archetypes, I think I am liking GR Tron a lot. At the same time, the recent banning of Eye of Ugin as I understand will have impact on the deck. Coincidentally, someone is selling this deck for $200 on Craigslist.

    My questions:

    - Can I use the deck reference above as a starting point of my Tron? Is it playable without modifications? (If not, is it playable after adding two missing Karns?)
    - Is $200 a good price for that deck?

This list doesn't seem worth it. You still need to invest a lot more into the deck to make it viable.

Hello, Popping back in again. Glad to see Eye gone. Many of my loses to Tron was the fact they could search up and answer better than our Chord does. Eldrazi is on the move and we are benefiting from it. Sorry Tron but I don't care if it wasn't tron's doing.

Couple weeks ago I went to another Starcity games IQ. Got 7th sadly but also received my 4 SCG Pin with Elves.

Also Sorry if this is a repost or shouldn't be on here. Channelfireball talked about the bannings and it's a very interesting article. Briefly mention Elves.

"There are also creature-based combo decks like Abzan Collected Company, Kiki-Chord, and Elves. These strategies remain basically unchanged. If you’re a master of these archetypes, you should stick with them."

If I may ask, why did you pick the GB Chord build? Isn't it too clunky?

Is Sensei Top off the question?? From the top of my head, i actually think miracles would be ok(ish) in modern.

There are two big problems: 1- Time: Top is banned in the first place because of the time it takes to go through the matches. Is it too far from Lantern??
I think miracles would be a lot less (quote from Aaron) "obnoxious" than Lantern.

2- Terminus: Wrath of god for 1?? Im in. The fact that it is better than Wrath of god makes me Think Twice about this.

Whats your thoughts on the matter?

They won't unban Top for time reasons. If there were less players at tournaments, yes, but they try to keep tournaments on schedules and it's hard with thousands of players.

If you like your playgroup and friends, keep it value. And also, I am sure you are aware that if you keep pushing Brago Staxx, eventually they will wise up and simply gang up on you and add more hate cards. I know I have played Brago for about a year, so I have some relavant experience. If you want to enjoy edh and Brago, avoid prison style or simply be the target lol.

I'm use to being the main target. My mates targets me for consistently coming first in tournaments there and being (what they say) "the best" player in the store. It hasn't mattered what deck I play in a multiplayer, I'm always first to try to be eliminated.

I built a budget Brago deck the other week and built it with a lockdown strategy with Stasis and Winter Orb. Man did I enjoy it. I felt like I was playing a more powerful version of my Legacy Death and Taxes deck which I might forget about now. Problem? My play group found it very hard to beat and did not enjoy it, not to mention I won the game. My thought process is my play group just might need more answers. What does the community think? Do I change it to an ALL-VALUE deck, or keep it to LOCKDOWN?

I'm having trouble making another EDH deck. I can't stop building upon my Scion of Ur-Dragon deck. I keep updating the deck whenever I can. After that, I have an Elf deck with Ezuri, Renegade Leader leading the charge, and I update that a little less often than Scion. Other than that, I have been struggling in keeping together other EDH decks I build. Either they are to common at my LGS or the deck is better used as a combo deck (which my store hates and I don't blame them since if I go combo, I'll usually go for the combo by turn 6-8 every game). So I'm looking for a commander that is fun, synergy with it's deck, but not to crazy combos that form easily.

What I have tried: I've tried building Sharuum, to combo for my meta. Trying to build Narset, but I'm having trouble pulling cards together for it.

What I might be interested in: Brago blink-control looks fun, but I don't know if it is to much combo (Dead-eye navigator looks like fun, never played it). Krenko because Goblins that explode, my favourite kind of Goblin. What are some commanders I can look into that don't focus on combo as the best way to go?

Thanks for being a spokesperson Mikeduges!! I think there's definitely some room for us to move the deck around some.

Brentane, this may answer your thoughts as well:

I'm still playing around, but - what if we moved into Sultai colours with a heavier Warrior subtheme?

Joraga Warcallers and Bramblewood Paragons have felt good to me for a while, and Thornweald Archers proved strong against Affinity. What if we try Skyrider Elf? It's a Warrior, so it doesn't need to be a dead draw on CoCo if we have a Paragon. Could even make an argument for Beastcaller Savant - smooth out the mana for Shaman, and could get us a 3/3 or 4/4 Skyrider before Paragon triggers.

Want to interact with your opponents more? Why not take to the sky?

My main worry is that we're weak to Living End. We're strong against Eldrazi, but what is the meta going to be if the bannings happen? Affinity is already fairly dominant, and without Eldrazi, I think it'll stay there... and for me, Affinity is a 50/50 match at best.

    Thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about Affinity. If they ban sol lands from Eldrazi, I can see them also banning Mox from Affinity, as it stops people from having permeant 2 mana to start with.

Hello my old Elven Brethren. I am having a bit of a dilemma at the moment in Magic. I'm missing playing Elves in Modern and been playing a lot of Abzan Company and Merfolk in it's place. The deck just seemed to goldfish to much so I've been playing more interactive decks. So my question is, should I rebuild Elves for Modern, even though they would be my least interactive deck, is it worth it? In my eyes, it could be as I would be taking Merfolk, Goblins, and Elves to every FNM and that would be very flavourful as I'm known as the tribal guy at my LGS =p

You can run Avacyn's Pilgrim instead. This deck has budget replacements for all of the $30+ cards, although they are not quite as good.

Verdant Catacombs can be replaced with Wooded Foothills
    Noble Hierarch -> Avacyn's Pilgrim
    Horizon Canopy -> Razorverge Thicket

Voice of Resurgence is kind of tough to replace, but I'm sure there's something. If you have Goyf (who has Goyf and needs budget options?), he fills the beater role. If the counterspell hate is more important, try Gaea's Herald or Vexing Shusher.

For replacing Voice of Resurgence I've found to replace it with more reactive effects. I've added more Eternal witnesses to the deck as a replacement.

Hello guys. I have a couple of questions.

    1) I've been playing these guys in Modern for a while now and a Legacy mate of mine asked what deck does it resemble the most in Legacy. My answer was Death & Taxes. That's how I view it at the moment as I use to play Legacy D&T for ages before going to Modern. We have Thalia affects (cursecatcher), tricks with Aether Vial (lords, Mow, Image, or Harbinger), semi-land destruction main deck (sea effects), and we are a creature deck that plays either aggro or control. I don't see it as a carbon copy of Legacy Merfolk as they play completely differently to Modern. Am I right in comparing these two decks to be similar?

    2) More of a casual question. My LGS plays a lot of Modern multiplayer. I've already almost mastered this deck's 1v1 style of play, but I always struggle with the multiplayer aspect. Is there something I can focus more on in the deck to have a stronger presence or is there something I have to look at adding to the deck for more competitive multiplayer?

So Eldrazi only made 6 places in the top 16 at SCG over the weekend with only two in the top 8. Has the metagame actually figured out how to beat it?

A mono-blue control deck that exists in Legacy that uses both FOW and Wasteland? I don't think any control deck like that exists mate. The closest for that would be Merfolk, more aggro than control. You could look into an old competitive deck that one person piloted ages ago called "mono-blue delver". The problem with the deck was even though it had good early game, splashing a color like other delver decks was more effective. As for a mono blue deck that does not use wasteland, you could look into OmniTell and HighTide / Solidarity (Hightide & Solidarity are similar archetypes but are different strategies).

    Ok,

Figured I would take advantage of this thread. I have recently started playing modern after out local standard and commander crowd have kinda left. I have been playing mostly agro decks in my MTG career. My LGS employee's and other players who supported me in playing hooked me up with a really nice mono-white Human agro deck in vain of the old Innistrad humans decks. However, it seems to be lacking a certain "something" to keep it preforming better not sure if either inclusion of another color or approach. So if I add in another color(s) what?

Oh please do this! Naya humans! It's a super aggro list, which can commonly win turn 3 and 4. It plays some of the best humans in the game. here's a link. I would also like to mention there was a 5-color human aggro list in Modern that was insanely powerful, but I can't find a list.
