So with Elves coming in the most recent SCG tournament in 19th place, makes me want to play Elves over Abzan Company again. I'm always deciding which deck to play over the other. One is 3 colours and doesn't need a creature type to work well. The other has massive synergis with a single creature type, meaning there are few option creatures to add to the deck. Are they equally strong? Or should I continue using Abzan Company over Elves? I'm forever tug-or-war'ing over this.

Is there any reason to play 1 deck only? I have about 4-5 decks assembled at any one time which i switch between, but what I play at FNM is usually a meta choice. The same goes for bigger events.

I have to keep switching 16-20 cards between the decks to play them. I have other decks, but trying to find my fast-green deck to play.

Been looking into Bant Eldrazi as a midrange deck. I've been trying to trade for pieces for Jund and looked into the deck since I have most of the pieces, seeing that it was more creature based than spell based like Jund. Would Bant Eldrazi be a good replacement for Jund?

So I read an article at the moment that was saying BANT ELDRAZI was the best "fair midrange" deck in Modern at the moment. I thought Jund was. Was tempted to build Jund but I might go the Eldrazi route if it is better. Wanted to know from this community what makes this deck just as good (if not better) than Jund, and why people are having trouble against the deck.

Been a while since I've posted to these forums. I have been in a predicament on whether or not to play Abzan Company or Collected Company Elves. Note I have both decks, so price and car availability is not an issue.
    - 1st, I love Elves, heaps of mana, amass an army fast, tribal synergy and swing in with powerful tramplers, but I am always sad for their weakness to board wipes.
    - Abzan Company I love for the 3-color, creatures that don't die easy, and Abzan lore of togetherness behind them, but I feel cheap when I always win with one of the combos. -

I love they both have a toolbox feature, so I am basically deciding whether I want a weakness to board wipes, or weakness to graveyard hate and feeling cheap for comboing. Is that right? Out of the two decks, which would be better? From my testing in my local meta, they both have a similar win rate.

I still don't get why people are putting down the card. If you going the Chord plan, Eldritch Evolution is better as it is 3 mana less, meaning you can fetch Ezuri with spare mana for pumping, or following up another Shaman of the Pack trigger.

Elves and Abzan Company are both creature decks. One is combo reliant on graveyard with a decent side-plan of beatdown w/ Gavony Township activations, and the other is a fast, linear aggro deck with some build in resilience.

Abzan Company fell victim to it's own success, reaching Tier 1 status and putting Grafdigger's Cage and Rest In Peace into the sideboards of many modern players. I don't think Elves is necessarily any better as a deck than it was 6 months ago, but I think that more people are picking up the deck and finding out it is a very good deck that can easily win a tournament on a given day.

GB has been more successful than GW of late; Shaman of the Pack is just a damn good card.

This makes a heap of sense thank you. Now one more thing I want to ask. Would I be fine playing Elves instead of Abzan Company? I love Elves as a tribe and missing them, but I'm a Spike at heart so went Abzan Company at the time for power. Are they equal in strength so I could go back to Elves?

Hey community, long time no talking for me. I have been wondering, is Elves becoming a thing now in Modern? Looking at recent top 8's of SCG there are more than double the amount of top 8 placements for GB Elves than there is Abzan Company. Why is that? I thought Abzan Company was preferred for the 4-5 combos it could pull off, or is Shaman of the Pack triggers what is pushing this deck ahead of Abzan Company? Basically, why is it seeing higher placements than Abzan Company?

Burn could be a nice starting point for you. You could also go with Kiki Chord as you mentioned it or with Naya Zoo-aggro deck as well and built it more towards aggro direction or go with bigger creatures and make more like a midrange version.

Yeah, Burn is kinda where I'm leaning. Harder to hate out than Affinity, a bit cheaper than Kiki-Chord. I'd like to play Zoo but Goyfs are a bit out of my price range at the moment, as much as I want them. Of course, if I could afford Goyfs I'd probably just play Jund.

If you want to play Zoo, play aggro Zoo. Replace Goyf with Burning-Tree Emissary and you run Swiftspear. It's the style of Zoo deck that kills on turn 3. Also a lot cheaper without goyfs

Ooh, interesting. I'm definitely going to look into that then! I had the chance to borrow a friend's Zoo deck (Goyfs included) for a smallish Modern event earlier today and it was pretty dang fun. I'm assuming it is a mix of Burn and Zoo since Swiftspear is in there?
It more or less focuses more on the effect of Atarka's Command.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on what to Chalice for each deck, that it's needed for? I'm pretty new to that card, and I'm going to start MBing 3 of them in my new build.

I know Infect, Zoo would be Chalice at 1, Affinity at 0? What else?

    Thanks in advance!

Affinity would be cmc 2, all the dangerous cards are at 2-drops, but you would probably be dead by turn 4.

Hello, long time since I've asked for help here. At the moment, I feel like I need another Modern deck to have in my arsenal. At the moment I've got G/R Tron and Abzan Company which my local store's players basically call the decks to beat at the store. I also have Merfolk which they consider on the same power level as the other two, yet I've always felt Merfolk is a little lower in power level to Tron and Company, so I feel like I need another deck to replace it. I was thinking Affinity as it has fast play, and throws people off, yet there is little interaction in the deck. Although I don't know if it's the right thing to do. Is Merfolk really considered powerful in Modern? Should I not worry about Affinity over Merfolk?

G'day Death & Taxes. Use to play the Legacy version ages ago. Now I know it won't be the Legacy version if I build it, but will it have a similar game plan? Read online somewhere that you tighten the advantage of the game to your favour every turn, which sounds fun. Also, I love Thalia and want to use her again after her sitting in a box for over half a year. Current decks I have at the moment (Merfolk, G/R Tron, Abzan Company), would the deck be able to go toe to toe with them? As for my meta, very timid, still introducing Modern to the store.

has anyone tried [[Duskwatch Recruiter]] in the MB? seems like it would really help find combo pieces

Duskwatch Recruiter / Krallenhorde Howler seems really nice, but a bit clunky for his ability and eats a bolt I suppose. I am willing to try this one though and if I do, I will post results.

I think activation cost is too high, but the fact that he easts a bolt is an advantage. Baiting a bolt out on non-combo creatures is always great.

He seems busted to be honest. We have extra mana all the time. We can bait the opponent thinking we have Collected Company, when we really just get a free tutor. If you want to run a build without Voice of Resurgence, I could make a case for this guy instead.

I want to play a Collected Company deck. What is the better Collected Company deck in Modern? Abzan or Elves? I know Abzan is the best Chord of Calling deck in Modern, but I don't know though for Collected Company.
