Refuse to play with them if they are using banned cards. Make the argument that you intend to play the game as the official rules committee has decreed, and just don't play with them.
Currently i have 10 commander decks that can bee seen on my tappedout profile under current.
Basically i cant decide between 7-ish different decks for my next build. (see ideas for EDH in my folders, lists are uncomplete at the moment, but are represenitive of what id be aiming for) and im looking for input from players who have played these commanders, or just opinions.
Hoping thia ia the right place to ask for advice. I just can't decide for myself what to build, theres just too many options!
Alesha - i like the idea of the creatures being small, but utility and can add up. I like using my graveyard as a resource as well.
Ink-treader - my playgroup is okay with it - i love his effect, basically increasing the effectiveness of your cards exponentially, and creating some crazy interactions not often seen. I dont think its too powerful either, since it relies so heavily on the commander.
Zurgo - I want to play worldslayer, and if i dont i want to hand him off to others using assault suit. Seems real fun and different from most voltron commanders. His power level is not to be underestimated.
Marchesa - getting dudes into the red zone and almost not caring if they die, plus certain interactions, this seems like it could be very powerful, and it seems like theres an added layer with making sure dethrone triggers that could be fun.
Selenia -my attempt at trying to reach an alternate win con, and also live life on the edge. Seems pretty one-trick-pony but i cant resist winning by ludicrous methods like hurting myself.
Heartless hidetsugu - my attempt at grouo slug where i dont care about killing myself in the process. The goal isnt to win, it is to ensure mutually assured destruction.
Mishra - i just like the surprise factor and possibility storm.
Sorry for any typos, its 3am and im typing this on my phone.
Moltensteel Dragon + Scion is a 2 card combo that wins games. Probably worth tossing in. It's not great for multiplayer, but can still kill pesky players.
I cut Riku from his own deck *tear*. Maelstrom is just so much more fun for a deck that aims to do chaotic/random shenanigans (within reason). I may switch it back, though. I'm coming to realize that Maelstrom is pretty much what's keeping the deck at a "too strong to be fun to play against" level. (On the rare chance that I get the mana to cast him really early I usually hold off until everyone else has a more stable board position).
What else have I cut from that deck... I tried to cut a lot of the power cards like Consecrated Sphinx because they really aren't that interesting. But I don't regret that choice.
Same here. I'm in the process of switching riku over to a MW deck... Mostly keeping the goodstuff but had to cut things like Knowledge Pool =/
Riku howerver will move over to the 99. This is debatable as I have a feeling he will be hated out easier.
There's a $15 ORDERED Merieke Ri Berit deck from TCGPlayer on this forum before. It was even cheaper without needing lands or anything you have laying around, and was a pretty decent shell for improving it down the line.
Pick any mono green legendary creature you own. Get 40 forests. Dump the contents of the green section of your rare binder, mana costs 5-8, onto the floor and sleeve them up. Add cultivate and kodama's reach and you're good to go!
Honestly this is a pretty good suggestion, although I would only run 30 lands and a few of those would be utility lands...
I started playing MTG around Innistrad. Played casual, kitchen table magic for a bit then went on to Standard / Drafting. Around the time Avacyn Restored released I heard about EDH and got to business. Traded for a Riku and built a deck. My playgroup followed suit and now we all have multiple EDH decks (I have the most though, 7!)
They still play other formats, but I just draft, cube, and EDH. So out of all the constructed formats EDH is the only one I play.
Replace the signets with land ramp like Skyshroud Claim, take out bad-for-us draw like Faithless looting (you aren't filling the grave), and take out the walkers except MAYBE Garruk. Only keep him if you add a couple more token producers like Avenger. Even then, he's iffy.
On another note, how are you keeping your Riku alive? I'm having trouble with both that and finding the right time to cast him, and I'm even considering a switch to Maelstrom.
Thanks for the suggestions. I definitely will consider swapping the signets for other ramp. I also really like Garruk, usually just for the untapping of lands. Haven't tested Tamiyo enough yet, but I can consider dropping Jace.
Also, I kind of feel the same way about Riku. I love him when I play him but I rarely find the time to cast him, and most games go by without seeing him at all. I usually have no problem casting my other commanders (Sliver overlord, Jhoira, Sharuum, Skytherix, Scion of the Ur Dragon) but with riku I either feel "I could get immediate value out of this card in my hand OR I can play riku t5 and have him blasted next turn." (For some reason hes a huge target, more so than even jhoira... maybe my playgroup is dumb) I usually wait until I have boots and my opponents are tapped out, which is almost never.
Hey everyone, I decided to come and ask for suggestions for my Riku deck. It is mostly creature based and has some "Shenanigans". Just wanted to see what other Riku players thought was out of place or "wrong".
Personally I feel that the build is pretty solid, but it used to be better (Used to contain Kozilek, may have tweaked it so it is less consistant, maybe my friends decks have gotten better? lol)

Thanks!
It was also confirmed by a mod for M14.
It has not been confirmed by Wizards.

Madcap Skills.
(Obviouslt not for draft haha)
I hope this sin't the only spoiler we get but oooh is it good.
Mono green with tons of mana dorks + some mana rocks + a commander like omnath, etc. + Land tutors
I usually run 36-37 in my non mono green EDH decks.

I know I'm missing things like Doubling Season, Tooth and Nail, better duals... I'm kind of operating off a bugdet.
Thanks!
Dartboard?
Also, Magma Sliver has always been more of a win more - or attack deterrent in my deck. I like it though because it makes things HUGE.
