Snapcaster will certainly raise in price if that happens. He's already really cheap due to blue's lack of performance so the real question is it worth the risk?
I'm just laughing at this whole thing. Not the fact that any time a U deck doesn't perform well sends this thread into turmoil, but the fact that whatever
going to happen tomorrow has already been decided. Just wait a day to resume the U doom saying. Not like they are going to see two DSJ today and halt the presses.
Tomorrow should be interesting, either they do nothing and we get to hear this for another few months, or they unban Jace and we get a slight reprieve, then a few months later resume with more "blue isn't good enough."
Jace doesn't do anything to help blue against such a hostile playing field. You only end up making URx godlike versus decks they are already good against and does nothing to their bad match-ups.
So, by all means unban Jace, but when that doesn't work out then I'll be done showing pity for blue mages.
Edit: I was writing this post before the warning, fyi.
Lol, seeing stuff like this always remind me of bitter budget players who refuse to understand how supply and demand work.
While they run their budget decks and write lengthy essays online on why Tarmogoyf shouldn't be over $20 dollars I already have saved up to buy a play set and gotten
some enjoyment out of them.
Shaheen is the last person I'd go to for advice on Modern, especially given his passive-aggressive attitude towards
the format because he can't play his Sphinx's Revelation.dec
His argument that midrange will just adapt by playing Dreadbore or holding back burn shows his dishonest intentions. Any smart player would immediately fate seal to get Jace outside of Lightning Bolt range and combined usages of fate seal and brainstorm make it difficult for the opposing midrange player to find answers while they find protection.
Adding a section on Bloodbraid Elf is meaningless as any casual observer of Modern would know Wizards doesn't unban a card that directly benefits a Tier 1 deck.
Slaughter Games works against AV.. They need four turns to cast it anyway.
I feel Slaughter Games is a criminally underrated card. Outside of potentially hitting AV there's always that one guy who brings weird decks that crumble like
a house of cards if you remove a key piece.
You keep doing that, like so many people here, you mostly base your entire perspective of Modern based on what the best players are doing. Just like the majority of people here I'm just an average man, but I sure as hell have my success and failings with Jeskai at the local scene. Would I like Blue to do better, sure, but I also would like that White's success shackled to Abzan. I just don't spend my time worrying over those details and work with what I got.
I bought a playset of Cavern of Souls for $94 last night - there's no way it's going to stay as low as $40, is there?
I would've jumped on that in a heart beat. Unless the rumors are true of an increased supply, Caverns biggest drawback that its now Mythic and sought after by many across multiple formats.
Excellent, you just skipped over "average" player part and immediately got all flustered. Mr Burkhart isn't the average player, and he doesn't spend every waking moment bemoaning the state of Blue either.
I honestly doubt people here go 1-X with any Blue reactive deck every week. Why, because you probably know your meta well enough to plan your decks around it. My initial comment has more to deal with larger events that have far too many angles of attack for any Blue reactive to succeed, at least consistently. People just see that Blue sucks at GPs and get salty that Wizards had the audacity of taking away their favorite toy, but then top8 a local with Grixis Delver.
very well said. hopefully wizards is smart enough on this in the coming weeks.
Pfftt nope, enjoy your Jace in a few days.
It's unlikely the next B&R is going to fix Blue's problems. Blue reactive decks are just too difficult for the average player to pilot at larger events.
I checked F2F games this morning and there were plenty and now every single copy is sold out.

Maybe that'll keep Shaheen Soorani and other Blue mages quiet about Control being terrible in Modern for at least a couple months.
Why is the health of Modern in some peoples' eyes intrinsically linked to Blue? I only wish people would put the same effort into White.

Sure, but he puts effort into what he likes other than smashing his head across his keyboard crying "FreeTwin."

I'm only in it for the set of Tarns and maybe Caverns.
