I doubt people will even run the play set, mostly like two, maybe three. Doesn't change the fact Jace will be ridicously expensive for awhile but people need to tone down the comparison to Tarmogoyf.
It's risk vs reward, and at this point all other "fair" cards on the list can be catetorized like that.
Fundamentally Jace is fine on paper but he's either completely useless versus unfair match ups or borderline oppressive against fair decks. The risk I see is all fair decks become Jace decks against a field that either don't care about Jace or just go under. I just don't see any reward unless you are dedicated blu fan boy.
I never factor in the price argument because from what I have observed of Wizards is that they are completely fine with destroying players' decks.
Edit: In honesty, thinking back I'd rather see Twin back before Jace.
Frank's arguments for Jace are weak as always but that's not surprising given both him and Shaheen Sorani have been repeating this message to Mr.Forsythe for months now. The sad part is that Aaron will probably listen to them because they are pros and do it.
Splinter Twin wasn't nuked out of existence it's just that Wizards thought Kiki Jiki was going to be what Collected Company was to
Birthing Pod. The replacement was always there but ultimately wasn't good enough in today's Modern.
It's funny seeing people doom-say over Control being dead in every format with STD being banned yet Legacy players still have SFM and Jace, two cards
a lot of Modern players would love to play with.
Anyhow, I already expressed my opinion on their Twitter page. A good majority of Modern players want unbans while Legacy players wanted to be left alone, so naturally they do the opposite. I'm trying hard to remain positive and give them the benefit of the doubt but it seems they have no idea what they are doing and are absolutely terrified of unbans.
Rhonas's pump ability also helps enable him to attack/block, combined with deathtouch it could result in some interesting combat strategies. He's definitely playable but I'm not sure what deck wants him.
Probably because you come off sounding like a blue elitist player to them, no offense.
Each set that passes by that doesn't have anything that directly benefits Uxx control we hear the same old rhetoric that "Hurr durr Wizards hates U. Battle cruiser magic!"
In Wizards' eyes they do print good blue spells, just not the ones a certain group of hold outs desire. Blue historically has had two of the most useful abilities in Magic, interaction with the stack and draw/filtering. In a game about variance being able to have better or more options is going to put you ahead, then add the fact you can just deny what your opponent is doing. Wizards wants to reinvent Blue or just give out conditional answers but there's so much push back for a certain play style that they themselves have admitted is unfun.
Don't get me wrong, I love playing Blue, Jeskai is 2nd favourite pairing after BGx. Whenever I criticize the blue sucks narrative I get accused of being butthurt my green fatty was counter one time, years ago. Truth told I drank the creature combat koolaid years ago and learned to love the direction they are taking Magic.

Mr.Forsythe also thought Sword of the Meek would be too obnoxious in Lantern control.

I have voiced my opinion on Twitter but pestering Mr.Forsythe everyday will not help.

So naturally knowing Wizards they'll just unban Jace.
Someone is feeling a bit jaded because Counterspell isn't Modern legal.

Played in multiple tier 1 decks. I'm amazed it wasn't bought out sooner.
My LGS has Tarns for $50 CAD each so I bit the bullet and picked up my play set. That is probably the cheapest I can get them at this point.
