I also doesn't hit til T3, at which point you're way on the back foot and time walking yourself is bad. But it would be sweet if Chrome Mox ever comes back!
In a perfect world it's 4 Talismans every time, but because of the number of colorless utility lands I've experienced trouble playing my Lilis and Damnations on curve. The Signets are necessary evils. I may try 1 Signet 3 Talisman again and see how it goes over 100 matches or so, but for now the 2-2 is intentional and working.
I gotta be honest Tezz_mizzet, I really had trouble with you list. Not a fan of the durdles with Trinket Mage (though I can respect the desire for a toolbox)and the lack of rocks. However, I do like that you've minimized your high-drops (I don't like having a glut of 3 and 4 mana cards). I like that you do more relevant things in your non-combo time than the rampier versions, but in my experience there's too much liability being reactive in Modern. For reference, here is my main deck that I've been experiencing success with:
My list is focused on disrupting my opponent's relevant spells and hand-dumping to set up a Bridge lock. Having Bridge while also playing lots of spells that get you effectively 3-for-1'd by a Remand always felt bad and is why I stepped away from the Trinket package.
I would warn you not to get too caught up in the 2010 lists. THey're very out of date. Cards like Stony Silence, Tezz AoB and IoK didn't even exist then. Work n strong synergy like we always have and consider this the 3-6 extra artifacts this deck always wanted. Also maybe Time Sieve if you're feeling adventurous
Honestly seems like a pretty terrible matchup, I would side in all Ray of Rev and pressure your opponent with zombies. Keep up green for Rev at all times, and block with Lingering Souls tokens on lifelink guys, Darkblasting them before damage so your opponent can't gain life. Hope this helps.
First attempt at this deck. Started off as a Loam Pox player, decided to move this direction given lack of Twin and increased presence of big mana and Burn decks. Looking to include mainboard Blood Moons, but not sure where to go. Anyone have any thoughts?
EDIT: Notable cards that I see missing are Blood Moon, Bolts, Dark Confidant, a white source of mana, Copperline Gorge, Scavenging Ooze.
@racing089 thank you for bringing your list to the conversation! I like where you are with it, but I will miss my Academy Ruins/Nihil Spellbomb durdlesquad You took a very traditional approach here which I like. SB questions: You play Consume the Meek and Glen Elendra Archmage. How do those do for you? I tend to run Drwn in Sorrow in place of Consume, and I struggle to see the benefits of Glen Elendra in this control-lite meta. Could you help me out a bit with that?
Also, your artifact count in the mainboard is lower than what I'm used to seeing, which is usually closer to 21. Thoughts there?
That sucks to be a Loam deck in a graveyard hate meta, but it's still playable. Like I said you jus have to be careful. Worship is not a good match for this deck since we rarely care about having creatures on the board for an extended period of time. If you're not ripping Loams, Infestations, and Souls it's a pretty bad card and also very expensive.
This deck is resilient to almost all hate cards once you've played it enough. Rest in Peace is VERY frustrating to play against, but I can beat that card in more than 50% of games. The key is to not get greedy: you are the attrition engine, so act like it. Opp on a white deck? Use that T1 fetch on a Godless Shrine, no matter if you have the Ray of Rev or not. You'll regret it if you don't as it's dredged and exiled. Just play carefully. I think the number 1 hardest card to beat is either Spreading Seas or Night of Soul's Betrayal. However, even those are winnable if you get the right stuff or play for the games that they build. Don't get so discouraged that you start making bad deck building decisions (Nevermore and Worship are TERRIBLE), just keep learning how to play carefully and extract maximum value from the deck.
