The fact basic lands in the box arne't full art wouldn't be a problem if in the back(where contentsares listed) a full-art basic land wasn't shown.

If you aren't told basic lands are not full you can't guess it .

This seems like a last minute change by Wizards that didn't make it to the box packaging printers in time. After the fat packs went like over-priced hotcakes, Wizards probably didn't want to have the same thing happen with this so they removed the full art basics. Of course, someone forgot to change the box art.... I wonder if this counts as false advertising? Any lawyers on the site want to weigh in?

Every box DOES come with 5 full-art basics in the form of the basic in the 5 booster packs, so it's not inaccurate to depict one on the box.

For anyone wondering, I can confirm that this is back to the RTR style of construction. The dividers between the three rows are of sturdy, excellent quality. Gone is the weird, crappy, card mutilating cardboard loop from last year's box.

Say what? This is absolutely not true.
I guess I'll need to post some pics when I get home tonight :p

EDIT: Actually, it probably is better than last year's, but it's definitely not like RTR's
because you can tell the middle "row" is just a separate piece they glued in.

The quality is probably on par with the Theros box, but not the RTR one.

I'll have to compare the Theros and RTR boxes when I get home. I remember complaints that the quality declined from RTR to Theros, but I don't remember what specifically changed. I do distinctly remember the shift from dedicated dividers between the three rows in the Theros and RTR boxes, affixed to the box on both ends and the bottom, to the weird, crappy glued-in cardboard loop in the KTK ones that bows out to either side, creating a row more egg-shaped than rectangular, with space for cards to slip under.

For now I will say this: KTK boxes were terrible, and I'm happy with the quality of the BFZ one.

Foil Lumbering Falls? Currently at $9. I have no use for foils and would happily ship it off on Puca, but $9 for a foil manland feels very low to me. Should I sit on this one a while?

Blade of Selves does absolutely nothing in Legacy. If it gave +10/+10 it still would not see Legacy play at a 4 equip cost, but it literally does nothing. TNN redefined the entire format and likely would have continued to do so if some doofus hadn't decided that printing a new Ancestral Recall was a good idea.

Even if Blade was amazing (it's not), the only format it does anything in is a singleton format. If it is anything more than a $2-3 card while this set is in print I will be shocked.

    So it's useless in 1 vs 1?

No, in 1v1 you still get a token to smack your opponent with. They get one that cannot attack you back.

Handy tip (for those who do not practice it):

You know the junk mail that AAA life insurance sends you (or any other company that does this)? It comes w/ a sheet of address labels...

    DON'T THROW THOSE AWAY!!!!

For months now I have been keeping an eye out for them. When mailing a ton of envelopes w/ cards, it can make life waaaayyyy easy. Last month I mailed about 16 envelopes at once and the address labels saved my hand from aching up.

I used these for a long time. I eventually ran out, and decided to just buy an address stamp on Etsy. It also comes in handy for things like baby showers and such.
They cost about $20 for a self-inking version. For example...

I bought one of these before my wedding, and it was great, but then we moved Frown

I LOVE getting the return address labels from the american heart association, march of dimes, etc, but I constantly run out.

A bunch of unfilled wants for Dark Confidant popping up on pucatrade today. Any idea what might be driving renewed interest in this card? I thought Bob had fallen out of favor recently.

If I'm reading you right, this is before accounting for expeditions? If so, that adds at least $20 in box value and puts the EV at something like double the wholesale price at least. That is certainly not sustainable.

    Nope, that's after expeditions.

I fail at reading comprehension. Thanks!

In that case, only about 50% over wholesale price, but still unsustainable. As others have indicated, the first thing to go is usually the $1-4 prices for bulk cards. The lands, Gideon will stay high, as well as stuff like Drana, Bring to Light, etc if they see any play.

Is Gideon going to be able to hold this $42 mid price tag?

No. Not while expeditions are in the set. Boxes can't have double the price of cards then their retail price tag forever.

Yes most of the set will drop to being near worthless in coming months and Gideon will stay up but I would be shocked if he isn't around $20 by the end of December.

I actually just did the math on the overall average box value. Looking at the lower end values on NM prices listed on tcgplayer (with low/free shipping), I came up with an average rare value of $1.17, an average mythic value of $6.70, so factoring that in with a reasonable addition for common/uncommon sets and non-expedition, non-land foils, as well as figuring $9 for the 36 full-art basics, and $10 for 2 foil full-art basics, and then determining an average value for the expeditions and dividing that by 3 (1 per 3 boxes or so from what I have heard), I end up coming up with an overall average box value of $129/box. Certainly impressive, but definitely not double.

That said, all sets will settle in value, that's just inevitable. The cards that are good and see play will remain decently higher than the average, while the rest will slowly continue to drop as the set continues to get opened. Factor in the addition of mtgo redemptions as well in a month or so, and that will also put additional downward pressure on the values as it does for all sets.

Rancored Elf was using the tallies to promote his own prices while scamming members of this community. This is a change for the better. Rai is doing a great job providing accurate, unbiased pricing data and context/commentary.

I just wish the discussion wasn't so separated from the articles.

So, I fully understand how probability works, but it is still not a good feeling to open a worthless foil mythic in a BFZ pack when expeditions are supposedly the same or better odds.

In other news, anyone coming to Pittsburgh for the GP next month? It's 2 blocks from my office. I'm debating whether to:

    1) Play a competitive deck against better competition than I usually face

    2) Play a troll deck (Possibility Storm combo?), drink at the Belgian beer bar across the street between rounds and see if I can get at least one opponent to flip the table against my jank combo

    3) Save my $60 entry fee for vendor tables and side events

Has anyone confirmed whether the intro packs or event decks contain full art lands? I don't think the card image gallery is a reliable indicator of this.

It's a legitimate concern. He got his problem resolved right away, sure, but is worried that this might be a ploy to cover up sketchy behavior and is looking out for the interests of other traders on the site. Bravo to him for asking the question.

Unfortunately I don't think there's any real way to know whether this is an upstanding citizen being proactive in resolving issues, or someone who makes a habit of sending garbage cards and has devised a scheme to keep from attracting admin attention for too many complaints.
