Now all I need for christmas is Serum Visions. Come on, Wizards, let us live the dream!

Unfortunately Sealock Monster is number 62 and Shipbreaker Kraken is number 63 leaving no room for Serum Visions. Ironically enough the spot between Ordeal of Thassa and Prognostic Sphinx is still open so technically there is still hope for Preordain...

I want to make sure I'm reading him correctly, as sometimes I'm not.

My opponent has a creature that's annoying me, so I cast Mizzium Mortars at it's mana cost.

In response my opponent flashes Restoration Angel to save their guy that I'm trying to kill.

Normally at this point my burn card is a dead card, can I then exile it and feed it to my Nivmagus Elemental?

The cards go to the graveyard.

601.2 To cast a spell is to take it from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack, and pay its costs, so that it will eventually resolve and have its effect. Casting a spell follows the steps listed below, in order. If, at any point during the casting of a spell, a player is unable to comply with any of the steps listed below, the casting of the spell is illegal; the game returns to the moment before that spell started to be cast (see rule 715. Handling Illegal Actions). Announcements and payments can't be altered after they've been made.

So, to cast a card from exile, you take it from exile and put it on the stack.

    Then, once it finishes resolving:

608.2k As the final part of an instant or sorcery spell's resolution, the spell is put into its owner's graveyard. As the final part of an ability's resolution, the ability is removed from the stack and ceases to exist.

Obviously, there are some cards which alter where they go once they resolve. For example, casting Red Sun's Zenith from exile would have it shuffled into your library.

So for Epic Experiment the cards will all end up in your graveyard.

My question however is how does this work with a spell like Mizzium Mortars? Say X=3, and of course Mizzium Mortars' CMC is 2. Per Epic Experiment I can now cast Mizzium Mortars without paying it's mana cost. Now Mizzium Mortars states "You may cast this spell for its overload cost." Well Epic Experiment said I could cast it without paying it's mana cost, and now Mizzium Mortars is saying I may cast this spell for its overload cost. So in theory I can cast an overloaded Mizzium Mortars and all I did was pay 5 mana and this doesn't go into if I drew a second or third instant or sorcery.

I followed the rules of each card, I don't see why not. Am I missing something?
