Reminds me of Scythe Tiger. Doesn’t seem very good for aggro and very few decks want something like this. I think it’s an easy pass for cube.

Wow this guy is incredible for a 2 drop. Solid red aggro card.

This seems like a total slam dunk for even the smallest of cubes.

    Voracious Greatshark

I always have my eye out for any new tempo cards being released and I'm all over this awesome shark.
This guy probably doesn't cut it in high powered cubes? I feel like it lacks evasion and there are better things to be doing for 5 mana there.
However, it is a huge tempo swing and I think a 5/4 with flash is pretty solid in blue.
For any cube looking to power up the top end of blue tempo this could be a nice inclusion.
Anyone else thinking of running this?

    Voracious Greatshark

    Creature - Shark
    Flash

When Voracious Greatshark enters the battlefield, counter target artifact or creature spell.

There is no boat big enough.

I’ve been drafting with this card since its release and I love it. It’s been a key piece in supporting blue tempo decks and it even feels really good to cast in control. I’m never sad to see it in my hand, I would recommend giving it a try. I took out Kira and I haven’t looked back.

For perspective, I have a small unpowered cube that’s basically as close to a powered cube as I can get without the power 9 or moxes. I still run Sol Ring and Skull Clamp for example.

The obvious contender is Griselbrand and I think there is room for both in larger cubes. In smaller cubes, Griselbrand is a mainstay for powered environments. For unpowered cubes that may want a break from Griselbrand, this card seems perfect. As a Reanimate target it’s still a nuts play, but it’s less good with Sneak Attack. I think that could be desirable for really tight cubes that have trouble balancing Griselbrand

I really want to like Orcish Hellraiser. I feel like it needed a keyword to really make it worth the investment. I’m happy to see a 3/2 for 2 in red though

Perfect! I suspected it would be something like that. Thanks Smile

If I attack with both Borderland Marauder and a mentor creature such as Legion Warboss, is it possible to stack the triggers such that the Warboss can mentor the Marauder successfully?

    Thanks in advance!

    Any love for this octopus?
I know it competes with other "army in a can" type dudes like Whirler Rogue but it has 5 toughness for those interested in creatures that survive Wildfire and it has synergy with other frequently played illusion cards like Phantasmal Image and Meloku the clouded mirror. It does it a pretty good job of gumming up the board. No evasion is a problem though. It still seems worthy of testing to me, anyone else feel the same?

Nice, I’m glad to see this deck making its way into established.

Has anyone experimented with running 4x Delver of Secrets? It seems like what the deck wants imo, more early pressure

Here is my take on a 270 card cube! It's my first cube ever and so far it has been a ton of fun for our little playgroup. We are usually about 4 people drafting and I probably wouldn't go with a list any smaller for a group this size.
Looking for advice if anyone has any Smile Thanks!

    270 Card Unpowered Cube

Edit: I thought I would share some of my thoughts about building a micro cube rather than just post my list.

Small cubes like this have very little room for filler. I would advise anyone making a micro cube to put a lot of theory into their cube design because card choice matters that much more. When designing balance I found it difficult to try making a small cube from scratch because I had chosen some archetypes and I had to be really critical of any potential inclusion. What I opted to do instead was to create a 360+ card list and trim the list down. I found it much easier to do it that way and I had to make some hard choices. For example, I originally included tinker/artifacts matter support but when I trimmed the list down to 270, the strategy became too weak to be consistent. A few other strategies were stretched too thin as well and could be hate drafted out of existence with only a couple picks. I quickly realized that I would have to make archetype sacrifices to increase competitive diversity.

I'm not suggesting having perfectly crafted archetypes prior to building your cube, but keep in mind that it may be better to drop undersupported archetypes entirely to leave more cube slots to balancing the remaining strategies. This is made easier by having a focus on archetypes with overlap. Alternatively, you could try removing cards like Sneak Attack that work with just about any creature so those big green fatties won't get snatched up before the green ramp decks get them. Just something to keep in mind!
