Sounds like a mix of Oblivion Ring and Pillory of the Sleepless.

enchanted creature and all other creatures with the same name can't attack or block. At the beginning of each player's upkeep step, if that player controls a creature with the same name as enchanted creature, that player loses 1 life for each of those creatures??????

    Super-pillory away

I suppose a fog deck likes to find 3 fogs. But honestly I can't find any value in standard for this card...yet. I think it is something to keep an eye on.

It's interesting, I personally was hoping for signets to return, but these are strictly better seeing as they don't need to be activated for mana AND they can beat on a clear board AND they can defend in a pinch.

I remember I played the phyrexian totem in mono-black discard during the TSP block and it did great things. However we've been so spoiled by first the signets and then other artifacts like everflowing chalice that I look at the CMC of 3 and wonder if these are constructed playable. Don't get me wrong I love the keystones and their flavour, but when playing anything other than midrange/combo decks turn 3 tends to be vital; for control you want the counter/removal open and for aggro you want the shiny new beatstick or the under-costed planeswalker (seriously how long before the new Ajani sees play?).

So while I do agree these will see constructed play, I'd suggest only in a mid-range deck that can afford to only accelerate turn 3, of course depending on the strategy (will door to nothingness return????) chromantic lantern may be strictly better on some boards. Thoughts?

I'm rubbing my chin thinking about Cavern of Souls, Treacherous Pit-Dweller, Demonic Taskmaster, Demonlord of Ashmouth, Bloodgift Demon and Desecration Demon from RTR and suspect we'll see one or two more before spoilers are over. Could be a cool deck.

I'm sorry but as fun as those cards are individually, working together just seems like something beyond anti-synergy, almost as though you want to help your opponent win the game. If you're going to play R/B suicide, think fling, essence harvest and disciple of bolas, Rakdos, slumbering dragon, desecration demon and vexing devil. It's a bit clunky but so are most B/R suicide builds.

People need to look at BR Zombies right now, and compare Rakdos to the other 4 drop creature that they are playing. Falkenrath Aristocrat.

Rakdos, while cool, just hits the board on turn 4, doesn't do anything immediately, and IF he can survive till the next turn, will hit for 6. The Aristocrat would have already hit for 2 more damage that turn, and it will take another turn just for them to be tied up on damage. This doesn't take into account that the Aristocrat has resistance to all the removal in the format except for Tragic Slip and Mutilate that we've seen so far. How is Rakdos better than that?

Finally, you can take into account the mana requirements. While not a huge negative, everyone will have to admit that it is a bit restrictive, and would still be difficult to cast at times.

If you want to talk about Rakdos in a control deck, he still won't be all that great. Control threats need to have some amount of resilience so you can stabilize. This guy does not do this.

I think the other telling point is that while both avoid abrupt decay, only the noble avoids the new selesnya charm which is sure to impact standard.

Don't like it much even if it is real (and the blurry photo doesn't lend it much credence). Needing to deal damage first is a pretty serious restriction, much like Bloodthirst.

I disagree, If you're playing those colours and not dealing damage on turn 4 then something is wrong. That being said he seems perfect for the fling/essence harvest deck people were talking about. With both him and desecration demon to fling and harvest and disciple of bolas, look out.

As someone who's been playing for far too long and spent far too much money on this game, I will personally be devastated if signets aren't reprinted. For the past two years in standard there have been maybe 2-3 decks which dominate the meta and with which other decks can't compete. I remember playing with the original Ravnica set, first alongside Kamigawa and then alongside time spiral and the thing I remember most about that format is that the top tier decks weren't as defined as they have been since ... well faeries (stupid faeries...I don't believe in faeries, hah one just dropped dead).
Anyway my point is when every deck has access to ramp and colour fixing you manage to create a diversity of ideas that makes for a much more interesting meta. I remember playing Solar Flare and thinking it was the nuts and it was, the only thing is there was also; boros beats, gruul beats, greater gifts, heartbeat, fireshield, owling mine, [magna]'vore, Ghostdad, salty pickles, slithers, mono-black discard, U/W wisdom and many more. The reason I stopped playing standard was I got sick of playing the same game 8 times in a single tournament.
And while we're at it, the same thing has happened in drafts, people pick to an archetype, signets in Ravnica screwed signals and made it so that only someone forcing an archetype would end up with it, at the expense of consistent mana. Sure this will make drafting more complicated for beginners, but it will also make it more fun when the beginner ends up with an OP deck because they drafted interestingly. Overall signets are great, they do great things to the format and quite honestly should be put in every core-set to keep the game diverse and interesting

The O-Ring is an upgrade, but not too much of one. I dislike Jace...4.0 (jeez, that's a bunch of versions for that dude).

In order for this stroke variant to be playable, we probably need 2cc mana rocks of some sort. You have to get to a high mana cost for this to really provide any value. Even then, I'm just not sure that a theoretical draw-go-ish deck (which is what might want this) would run this over something like think twice--at least TT is pretty painless early game.

so if signets see a reprint this becomes playable?

How about devil's play for mid range burn with recursion? Maybe a desolate lighthouse. Syncopate will probably be a must in against some Goglari/Frites/Zombies decks. Blue miracles?

So what about using cloudshift to untap him then swing?

He'll have summoning sickness. A better play is to untap him at instant speed with a twitch effect, however the only two I can find in standard are captain of the mists and galvanic alchemist, neither of which is great. There's also niblis of breath, spidery grasp and village bell ringer. Finally if he's an artifact (somehow) clock of omens, but nothing great at the moment. Besides the Azorius detain ability will probably make a deck based around him moot.

Hey look! Leftovers from AVR! Did they just run out of ideas?

Seriously, how does this fit into RTR? Boros isn't in this set, so ya......huh?

Whatever, the card is good I guess.

As you said, this is a Boros card. Check out Bell-Chime Sphinx and wild beastmaster, one is a Dimir card and the other is a Gruul card. Just like the original Ravnica, the guilds aren't necessarily contained to individual sets.

Hm feels a little uninspired like the 15/15 Wurm. Don't like the design all too much.

    And 5/6 for 7 Mana...

Well another Mythic I hope not to ever open. But would buy for ~1 Buck fior Kaalia ;D

I'll make a deal with you, you open her and i'll buy her for $2 off of you. That seems like a good deal based upon your limited opinion.
