The End of an Era

If anything I'd say we benefit from a probe ban because it slows down the format and the deck can run perfectly fine without them. Zooicide, and Infect decks would suffer more than us.

Also Istant Reanimator, Loving End, and Company ddcks to an extent.

I love geist, but I wouldn't try it mainboard, it's only good when you need to race decks with inevitability. Otherwise Nahiri is a better Wincon.

You would have to cut both falls if you're adding these as they don't play well with each other. 2 is possible, not entirely sure it affects turn 4 Nahiri much as colonnade is in essentially the same situation and we still play 3

Not only that, but sweepers tend to be much slower and can sometimes be mediocre. I'll take Helix over Wrath of God any day against delver, infect, burn, or G/r aggro.

On that note how does everyone feel about mainboarding Engineered Explosives? I moved my Timely Reinforcements to the Sideboard and put the Explosives as a singleton in the main. I keep finding myself siding the card in 90% of the time and finding matches were I need removal instead of lifegain (Infect, Affinity, Etc). In fact I'm pretty sure I want to find a slot for a second one on my 75. It has been that good for me.

Just out of curiosity why did you choose to cut the Spreading Seas out of your board? I side them in fairly often. Vs Infect, Merfolk, Affinity, Tron, Scapeshift(depending on the build), and Jund/Junk. I haven't, but I saw Gerry Thompson side them against Burn and Death's shadow too the reasoning was that it's essentially a pseudo Sink Hole against them.

Since we're trying to go the other way then should we shave AVs and focus on resolving Nahiri on turn 4 and going off as fast as possible?

    1 Anger/Wrath MB and 1 Anger, 1 EE SB
    For me.

Ok, my bad on that one. I looked at his list again, got it confused with another one apparently.

From what I've recently seen from Tron, their Planeswalker threats aren't the worst threats anymore. At least the ones I've been playing against have been getting to Ulamog asap, however they can. If they run into a Karn or Ugin on the way, they'll cast it. I've been able to beat those resolving before. It wasn't easy at all, but it is realistic. I have never, ever had a chance if Ulamog shows up. Countersquall helps to slow them down early on if they're digging for Tron, or if they run into a Planeswalker and cast it. Bringing in all 3, though, I don't feel is very good. They have limited use if they natural Tron or very close to it, or if they start castling Wurmcoil, Platinum Angel/Emperion, Conduit of Ruin, or Ulamog. Ghost Quarter has done me wonders in the Pierce slots though.

I disagree I would absolutely bring all 3 and the spell pierces, things like Conduit of ruin and Platinum guys are not the norm in Tron decks, unless they're seeing play in Mono U or UW Tron which are fringe anyways. The stock R/G Tron lists have 2-3 Wurms(Haven't seen them play 4 in a while, not since Worldbreaker started to see play) 1-2 Ulamog and 1-2 Worldbreaker. Everything else in their deck can be countered by Countersquall. Besides there's already more than a few spells in the main that are terrible against them, so I doubt that you're going to run into situations where you can't side anything out for them.

I mean he also said that Countersqualls were his hate for that matchup and they seem excellent if your opponent is playing anythung other than a wurmcoil

Not really Ryan Overturf was looking for other options to be able to expand his Sb choices, currently he's still on the AV plan though. If you can't afford them try +2 Painful Truths
+2 Cards that are good against midrange/Control decks.( Blood Moon, Thoughtseize, Pia & Kiran, etc).

So I just finished building most of a Grixis Delver deck, but I'm missing the Snapcasters, which hopefully I'll be picking up some in the next couple months or so. Any ideas on how I could build around not having them for now? I I basically put in 4 Young Pyromancers in place of them, despite not playing the same role at all. I'm wondering if a full playset of Thought Scours is worth it if I don't have the Snapcasters?

Thought Scour is there to power out Turn 2 Tasigurs and Anglers more than to feed snapcaster.

I sometimes struggle with 19 on almost his exact 75. It could be the way your list looks, but I usually want all my landrops turns 1-3 and sometimes need to dig for the 4th one when I side into the Ancestral Package against control decks.

I like how he's going with the one thing that everyone I've talked to or heard talk about the deck hated on when Ancestral got unbanned, which is to run 4 AV, 4 Serum Visions, and 4 Thought Scour maindeck.

Same here. His deck is so full of fluff and slow cards too, like everyone was arguing about trying to speed up the deck, and the first list to do well has 12 do nothing cantrips and 4 copies of a 4cmc counterspell...
