I wish the alt arts are the main art, for all the adventure cards so far.

Isn't that sorta the point? Wink

Is there any chance these cards referencing adventure are actually DFCs? As in, activating Flaxen Intruder‘s adventure creates 3 bear tokens and flips to an enchantment or artifact named Welcome Home? Or would the card read, '...then transform X' if that were the case?

at common no less? One mana reanimation should definitely fit in to some modern decks.

It's always been common. It's never been anything but common.

We already had one mana reanimation in modern with a versatility bonus in Claim // Fame. Sure it capped at 2 CMC rather than 3, but it could alsso make your creature (or some later creature) more powerful and hasty. And as much as I love Claim // Fame... as I understand it, it never really found an audience.

With respect, I think in a competitive environment this card is orders of magnitude better. Just the fact that it can actively cycle away to dig toward a potential target is a massive improvement to say nothing of being able to 'produce' mana by animating a hasty 3 drop for a single black.

If you have not played this card in a deck with no other creatures you have no idea how useful it is.

Every Smallpox/8-Rack deck should run a copy to pitch to smallpox or collective brutality. Typically the worst case scenario is your opponent has grave hate and they remove it, but that means they have otherwise useless grave hate cards against you.

Or split FoF piles with a spirit in the 5. Its a certain kind of deckbuilding constraint and I honestly dunno if its worth in the modern era of the game. You could run this guy in U/W control because we didn't have Snapcasters, Cliques, etc. I'll test it out in....something because it is pretty cool just how many things you can do with a self rezzing critter that never costs a single mana or game action.

Just kinda hopping into the discussion, but does Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion merit any amount of consideration? I know he lacks haste and bites it to Lava Coil, both hefty strikes, but on rate alone he is a 5 power trampler for 4cmc. That makes him competitively priced, at least. In the event that he does swing and trample over for a single point of damage, you get the option of pitching irrelevant threats/excess land to, potentially, draw more gas. Breaking the shackles of being chained to the top of our deck is something Gruul desperately needs. I find it even more appealing when paired with Living Twister as you can bounce a land or two to draw additional cards at net neutral mana. Mana that can then be used to fling a fist full of land at the opponent to either close out the game or wreck the opposing board state. I understand that Neheb likely isn't a slam dunk solution to our problems, but it could give us a slightly different angle of attack.

Anyway, I just thought I'd toss that out there since I felt like he deserved to, at least, enter the conversation as a new entry that could have a dynamic effect on the archetype.

I can back all my peeps grabbing infecting colossi, but I'm down for a little e-witness action. If I'm reading it right, X=3 can pull an e-witness out of the library and a man 'o war out of the graveyard? Just the beginning of the value train.

That art is hilarious and awesome at the same time - Sarkhan's dual-wielding dragons!

Missed opportunity to have his feet turn into dragons so he could float via dragon flame. Think Iron Man, but less shiny and more scaly.

Clearly showing Nicky B his high school yearbook photo where Bolas, with a mullet, poses with a mohawked Ugin. Both twins are sporting t-shirts of their short-lived, and unfortunately named, band, Bad Blood.

This is a leak, not a spoiler. The war isn't "over" yet. We still have no idea what price will be paid.

Bolas's loss may be a foregone conclusion, but the price of victory and fates of most of the characters are still very much up in the air.

This is literally what I was thinking, haha.

Spaniard I know you want to help with your leaks, but you're killing the buzz.

Still though, this a thousand times.

Edit: Actually, let me be more vehement: After all the effort and preparation the creative team went through to prep this story and deliver it to us, rolling out a specially-planned spoiler season and going the extra mile to try and make War of the Spark a unique experience, leaks like this--especially story spotlights--are particularly uncool.

Ditto for whoever the hell it was who leaked Nicol Bolas. We're not grateful, you're not helping, and all you're really doing is cheapening the experience.

Get over yourself. This isn't about you.

I'm trying to understand your vehement anger, but I just don't get it. Being 100% serious. Help me understand why you didn't simply close the thread when it was an untranslated card clearly from an unofficial source? I'm not being sarcastic or confrontational, but I'm having a hard time seeing this as a logically valid stance. I mean, what about those who appreciate the leaks? Those who want to get the information first? Are their desires ignored because it could, possibly, inconvenience you? Yet no one is trying to tell you how to enjoy the spoilers and which information to consume. Nobody is taking you by the hand and forcing you to read the leaks. Why then do you feel entitled to limit the information others want? It seems, frankly, nonsensical. You don't speak for the masses anymore than the next poster in this thread. Why would you think otherwise? Are you working under the misconception that the other forum users aren't entitled to their opinions? Once again, I'm simply baffled.

It is noteworthy that it doesn't exile itself upon resolution. A significant difference from what we've become accustomed to in sets printed over the past several years.

Seems inferior to others in the cycle to me. Stealing a creature for a turn is generally 3-4 mana, we have Act of Treason in standard right now from Allegiance. So you're basically paying another 3 mana...for a shock. It seems a very poor offering, even in limited it ain't great. Would it have killed them to steal a creature and say give it double strike, deals double damage, gets trample and +x/+x etc until EOT, at least that makes it worth something and seems more fitting to the guilds partnership

Maybe 'Gain control of target creature. Untap it. It gains haste until end of turn and fights up to one target creature you don't control.' Something like that?

I mean...a 4/5 flyer for 2UU is a pretty reasonable floor. Everything else is upside. I guess you really want to draw during the opponents turn to get the extra trigger outside your draw step. Aside from that...not real sure how to take advantage of him? Maybe like Treasure Map or Precognition Field? Tho what I really wanna do is Stone Rain...

So, for the record, I could cast a second Rhonas and legend rule the second and keep a 10 power Rhonas, right? Seems like there could be something interesting with the elf from DOM that taps for G equal to her power. I see Khefnet bouncing the field and Oketra having lifelink and causing the opponent to lose life equal to the life you gain. Like...Sanguine Bond? I think was the enchantment's name.

Dunno if its been mentioned, but Militia Bugler can find this guy. Then, perhaps, let you bugle again off a 3/4 bugler clone. Can also copy Trostani, another card Bugler can find. Copying a Shalai could be fun as well. Also worth noting that Spark Double, being non legendary, can be cloned with Quasiduplicate and the like. Potentially leading to a flying floatilla of Niv Mizzets, etc.
