    Okay, that settles it.

If Wizards don't want it -- I won't be forcing playing control.

Goodbye plans for brewing URW / Grixis Control. GB(R) dumbgrro deck - here we go!

That would do you some good. Then maybe you would understand that instants aren't free because you can cast them eot' and that losing a turn to sit with two lands untapped that you may never use is a hard call when you're not spamming gitaxian probes.

drop the maniac, unless you really want him to be your win con.
Add 4 mulch and two more trackers instinct they are the best self mill cards out there.
Wreath of geists is also less than stellar and I would just drop it unless you were to run it with invisible stalker. It way be suitable as a sideboard card versus decks with no access to removal but only if you have trouble with a particular one.
You have have too many ghoultrees you shouldn't have more than 2 probably.
You might also consider Gnaw to the Bone as a 1 or more of depending on how you want your deck to play.
I would also play 2 more deranged assistants over the screeching scarab.

    2) You will have to choose between Gravecrawler/Messenger and Rakdos in deck construction. Seeing as how Rakdos can only be played in aggro decks due to its restrictive casting clause, you'd be playing one without the two best enablers out there. Reason being you will not be able to cast a BBB spell and then follow it with a BBRR with any sort of consistency. Yes RTR is helping tremendously for mana fixing... in decks that are playing more than two colors.

The Rakdos drawback is even worse as he forces you to play into sweepers while Messenger helps you recover from them. I know what my choice will be.[/QUOTE]
I've played messenger in a 3 color deck quite successfully. You just have to commit your manna base to it and live with the fact that your lands won't always come into play untapped.

They will complain that he's a bad topdeck with an empty board.

well maybe they should run Curse of the Pierced Heart and stop whining.

Edit: I need to start reading cards before I post things.

    P. Obliterater died to the most available removal spell in the format. This, dies to Dreadbore.........anything else? (no seriously, its an actual question, because I can't think of a spell that takes care of Rakdos that will see significant play)

EDIT: Selesnya Charm, and Murder, though I doubt the latter will see much play :p

Victim of the night is likely to see play. Tragicslip can also take care of him as can o-ring and o-ring 2.0. tamiyo is also pretty effective versus him though probably weak against the rest of the deck. also cackling counterpart is getting a lot of hype due to the populate mechanic so it will be around too.

Edit: Forgot cackling counterpart only hit your creatures. looks like we're stuck using clone. And of course by using i mean not using.

You think Delver isn't going to be a deck anymore? The UW bird, Izzet charm, and Azorious Charm lend some support. Just because Ponder rotates doesn't mean we've seen the last of Delver.

Delver probably won't be a deck any more. It will be replaced with something similar though.

1 card does not a guild make

However, he's still really, really, really, really (have I made myself clear?) good, and he will be played. He's like abyssal persecutor, just all upside once he's on the field, and he *will* make that third ability relevant, although it isn't very useful in a sligh/low curve deck like his.

Definitely true. Rakdos has still gotten the shaft. If only rakdos charm, return of rakdos, ash zealot, slaughter games, and deadbore were standard playable. Frown

Paradise Mantle meet Blistercoil Weird. Blistercoil Weird meet Paradise Mantle.

edit: not to mention Cerulean Wisps added onto that would be ridiculous. 2 mana of any color for U and a draw.

We've had Kiss of Amesha and Blue Sun's Zenith in the past. Sphinx's Revelation is better than those, but not by much, and those saw zero play. Thing is, having to spend three mana before you can pump X is too much. We don't even have Everflowing Chalice around anymore.

    This card is massively overhyped.

Kiss is sorcery speed and blue sun did see play. Your argument is invalid.

I definitely expect Sphinx's Revelation to be played in constructed control decks, as a one or two of.

yah it seems pretty strong. I'm not sure why so many people are complaining about it. It's not a concecrated sphinx but the fact that it is instant speed and gains life makes it very playable. I think people are to used to the delver archetype for control where everything has to be a 1-4 mana spell.

If you played this in a izzet tron stile deck it wouldn't have the combo potential but could still be pretty solid. Just run a 4 of remand to slow down your opponents and if you flip it with Epic experiment you can use it return any cards you don't actually want to cast at the moment to your hand with a cantrip.

It has all become clear now. They didn't reprint mana leak or doomblade because they are commons. Instead we're going to have to run removal which are all rares! It's brilliant! Player will have to buy more packs and Wizard will make Millions! (their latest scheme because mythic rares didn't go over very well)

Epic experiment may lead to a deck similar to minds desire. I'm imagining a deck with manamorpose , desperate ritual, Pyretic Ritual seething song, serum visions, Gitaxian probe and possibly Past in Flames , thought scour, ideas unbound, and Increasing Vengeance; maybe even Izzet charm. Too bad they banned rite of flames.

So right off the bat, we're seeing that a deck needs to be capable of dealing 4+ damage on the turn they want to drop him in order to get great value out of him. This may seem rather restrictive but I don't think this should be a problem in most aggro decks. If you get to Turn 3 or later and you're not reliably hitting your opponent for a decent chunk of life you're probably in serious trouble anyways.

But if you are doing 4 plus a turn you would be better off with removal. It competes for the three slot with messenger and Lillian and quite frankly just doesn't stand up to the competition. The only time this card will be worthwhile is the same turn you drop a vexing devil and even then the bare minimum your opponet has to is bounce it and your sick combo was wasted. It would have been good with stormblood berserk but seeing how that is rotating...
If you've ever played with a war elemental then you know these kinds of cards are bad. At least it says life lost.

Not as good as restoration angel obviously but not to shabby in the right deck. If it had flash then it would be amazing. Still it may find a home in a more aggressive blue deck that wants to curve out at 3-4. great with augur of bolas
