Blast of Genius seems like an auto-include in a Jhoira EDH: Draw 3 and discard a bomb like Kozilek or Ulamog to the opponents dome. Sucks that you choose B4 you draw though.

Perfect Izzet card !!! That he is a common makes him awesome. I love good cards as commons, not just trash.

Anyone else spot the Izzet Key in the Background? Does this have something to do with the Maze ??

    More uninteresting spoilers.

We still have only seen 1 card spoiled for Dimir, and that was our champion. This is getting old.

Keep your hopes up, it will get better, Hopefully our dimir cards won't "bite" as much as our champion

...see what I did there ...

On further reflection, EVEN though I read the Secretist, and I KNOW he's not supposed to be Super Impressive, AND he's a rare, and I think he has the right direction of mechanics....he IS missing something. He is missing one keyword. Not two, two would have been too good. He's not a Mythic, and he's supposed to be only about as good as Szadek. (I would say he's supposed to be worse, but Power Creep has happened so as good as would be appropriate to adjust for that inflation).

He's got the Psychic Dimir thing down good. Flying is the most unoriginal thing about him but it makes him good at combat (you have to remember that nearly nobody actually plays Giant Spider and a 2 power flying can do a lot. 3 isn't out of the question but with flying or unblockable, you have to be cautious how much P you really want to ask for on a non-Mythic with a very relevant ability).

Lifelink, Deathtouch, First Strike, or Haste. One of these would have made him a lot better, and they're the only things U/B can justify having.

Actually, since you can justify First Strike, you can justify Double strike too, I suppose. He is ONE keyword away from being really defendable and pleasing.

I'm still not going to hate him as much as many of you appear to be ready to. But I do confess myself at the end of the day a little let down because he's not quite enough. Not unless there is a ridiculous excellent card that makes Grind incredibly powerful. Like Sadistic Sacrament near-reprint (Search for 5 lands and exile them?)

Lastly- multiple Dimir creatures Grind. Having one that does the work of a whole Mind Funeral, repeatably? That's really strong, considering you are ACTUALLY going to be attacking with at least one, maybe two other Grind creatures when you attack with him. So think of the whole strike team you could have available, and "Grind you for 7 or 8" in a single attack is actually not at all out of the question on Turn 6.

If they've been fetching Land out of their deck, they might not be so happy. If you dedicate a Grind deck to him, he CAN win, but he'll only have a chance to shine, unfortunately, in Limited. He is still deadly there, barring crazy Dimir spoilers pushing him up to being good enough to run Grind instead of Straight Mill in EDH (people DO recklessly search out their lands in that format, and Grind MIGHT be good tech/better than Straight Mill there.)

I'm trying to see the reasons why he's bad clearly, while also showing any reasons that might exist for how he could be good clearly. A Mostly Grind deck that happens to have a Glimpse the Unthinkable and an Archive Trap in it could be really fun for EDH, IMO.

You post proved why mythic is a dumb idea nothing more, Wizards is letting mythic interfere with card creation.

In EDH (who a lot of Legends are geared for) this guy doesn't help your cause for winning against 4 players at all. He sucks, just face it. I'm going to use him strictly for the Art. He could have been a 3/4 Flyer, with absolutely
no effect and I still wouldn't be that pissed about it.

Wizards should not have spoiled the pictures of the champions first. Seeing the pictures of the Guild Champions with such a long interval until the spoilers were revealed, really wet our palettes, and got our imaginations going. We all thought the CHAMPIONS were going to be good/ exciting based on how cool the art was. Most of them are lame, Virko being the King in that Department. Wizards is just a cash cow and **** R&D

Teysa is an awesome EDH General. This Teysa doesn't tie you down to the token theme.
besides Savvra, Teysa 1.0, and Lyzolda were basically the same general with sacrificing token decks.

Equip that sexy ***** with Sword of Feast and Famine and swing in for General Damage

I like Vorel even though he is lame. Something about him being unassuming that is endearing. Will he replace Zegana as General in my mean ass EDH deck.... No.

I feel sorry for Simic Fans that such a sweet guild got this guy. The Sky was the Limit with Izzet and Simic yet they came up short rehashing old **** and dropping it onto a Legend (Gilder Bairn & Magus of the Future). Come up with something original for the love of god.

why does his power matter when you win the game the turn after he etb? he's a combo enabler, not a red zone finisher.

    What combos does he enable?

Man, can someone tell me how to feel about this card ???

The picture and character is beyond Awesome, and he is a Wierd Wizard, but he should have been a 4/5.

I don't get how to abuse his ability, which is bothering me......since it seems like he wants to be broken (as an EDH General).Only card that works with him that I've found is Jace AOT

What should I do? How should I feel? This is.....Weird

Ok, let's start with the fact that you're not playing Bob in the same deck as Tinker and targets, because that's just silly when you factor in Ral, Jace, FoW, and so forth... If you are, there's a decent chance you die to it before it kills me.

Snapcaster is only played in some lists with Vault, and as a 1-2 of then. Clique is also generally a 1 of.

The fact that someone has the infinite turn combo going, doesn't mean they win the game, unless they are doing it with Tezz, because he's assured to kill you with a bunch of 5/5s very soon. However, if they have something like Mana Crypt or as you've suggested Dark Confidant in play they might just die to their own triggers before they are able to kill you and then it's fine to just make them go through the turns until they kill you or die themselves. It's even possible they deck themselves if it's late enough in the game and enough of those threats have been cycled through already.

If you're playing against red, and you have any suspicion that they're holding a Lightning Bolt, you +2 your Jace instead of brainstorm if you don't have a good answer for that Lightning Bolt. Seriously, if someone looks at your side, sees red mana, and doesn't consider the possibility of a Bolt, they're just bad, and basing the quality of a card off of them is meaningless.

Your argument is worse than your spelling.

Yeah.... I can tell you don't even play vintage. Infinite turn is infinite turns, and you will win. PERIOD. Whether you draw all the cards you need, or attack over and over. Cliques are used in 3's or 2's. There is absolutely no point in running 1 Clique. I've been in games where the opponent is at death's door with bob's and crypt, but drawing a card everyturn from key+vault, they eventually found the top, and then got the tinker to sacrifice crypt into blightsteel, or tendrils to keep themselves alive and yawgmoth's will to win. Infinite turns lets you win on the most fundamental rule of the game... I DRAW MORE CARDS THAN YOU, THEREFORE I CAN MAKE MORE DECISIONS AND THUS WIN THE GAME AKA CARD ADVANTAGE.

You also have access to Red which means REB, Smelt, Ingot chewer, magus of the moon, G.shaman and other disrupt cards. Ral can also untap Tolarian Academy or Library of Alexandria. Sure if you play Jace first you can +2 him. Ral answers Jace without sacrificing the initiative by casting your own Jace. I think they will fight for board control, and against workshops I can see Ral doing way more, as he can bolt the lodestone, tap down Trinisphere, untap under tanglewire, and gives you access to red's artifact hate. A planeswalker that can go against shops, control, aggro, & dredge without being boarded out is awesome.

(Bolt your own creature to take out bridges)

My argument is valid, but you can't teach japanese to a monkey.
