So I play in a very high power metagame, no ban/restricted list, though we try to stray away from things that make the game too short (I.E. S&T decks). We also tend to stray away from things like 4x moxen or whatever. Now I have never make a Battle of Wits deck before because I think some stupid 5 mana card that reads "I win the game" is just boring more than anything, so I want to mix it up and have the deck built more around just being a 5 color control/combo deck. This is a SUPER rough draft that I threw up, I know it's a bit of a card dump, but sorry.
I have no budget, and am looking for card suggestions/things to cut, or cool interactions that I may have missed. Also, as much as I love playing with cards like Lotus, and Yawg will, I think they may be a little much, like I said, we play with strong cards, but we like our games to go long
Sorry for the double semi necro, but I was just curious. There's a guy on the Civ5Fanatics forum that goes by that name and I was wondering if there was any correlation.
Okay so really quick, Odin's Chosen you are using the greater than sign wrong, the greater thing goes to the left of the symbol. As for the deck itself I personally agree with with the points themselves, I also find 4 upheaval to be a little cumbersome. Spell pierce and negate I could go either way on, same for Chainer's/Diabolic. Aggro Mike is also very correct in suggesting FoF, that card is insane... EOTFOFYL exists for a reason I think Into the Roil is probably stronger than Boomerang, but neither one is especially great. If you're willing to splash green I think thatLife From the Loam plus it engine of cycle lands, and whatever that -2/-2 land is called is really powerful, especially with you already having strip mine in your deck. Budget allowing, a 1 of Gifts Ungiven is really quite powerful, especially if a LFtL engine is included. As for supplementary card draw Deep Analysis is awesome, though I personally have a soft spot for Accumulated Knowledge, call it nostalgia.
Yeah I would play this 100%, and I would love to see some sort of fun-type tournament get hosted under these rules a la battle of the blocks. I assume we are playing with modern rules no matter what the format, as opposed to the rules that would be under effect during that standard. I.E. damage not stacking etc etc.
Yeah I love Burning Wish, and I guess red also gives you access to Blasphemous Act and since budget isn't an issue for you, you can run red as a splash color very easily. As for the core colors (in my opinin) of UW, I think it's a great choice.
UWR can be very viable in a multiplayer setting, though straight UW may be better because red doesn't bring that much to the table and your mana will be better with just two colors. Unless you make use of Burning Wish red doesn't really bring all that much to the table. That being said Burning Wish is a very strong card, and I personally love wish boards, and it also gives you access to Taurean Mauler
If you are in fact down with multi-color decks, Mirari's Wake decks can be very fun and powerful, and are basically mono blue splashing wake and utility. Pyromancer's Accension decks can also be quite fun/powerful, and again are pretty close to mono blue splashing for the Accension. I guess the real problem with both these decks is that the core card is non-blue, but I thought I would throw them out there anyways.
Honestly I play this deck as a control deck in many games-at least in essence. That's one of the nice things about this deck is that because it runs so much discard (and depending on your sideboard) you can ether try to go straight beat-down, go a more controlling route, or pseudo combo out on them via goblin bombardment.
Thanks for the link to the site. Call me stupid though but I can't seem to find any kind of MTGO side of things on the site. I just got back from class though, so I am probably just missing it.

Tich? Who are you referring to here? Or am I being very obtuse.
That's pretty obvious I would say, it's part of general mutliplayer logic. Don't run a lot of counterspells, run as many sweepers as possible etc etc.
Oh my.... 3 dollar berserk.....interesting....lol
*Edit* and tabernacle... very interesting.
