I feel like if I tried to pull these both off against someone, they'd say I can't have both things I want. not exiling entomb, but keeping Syphon life in my graveyard to continue that fun.
Entomb searches for a card (ulamog) to put into graveyard to save my stuff from a bojuka bog, but then entomb hits the graveyard and is shuffled in and not exiled by Bojuka Bog.
Where as gitrog/dakmor salvage stuff are triggered. Is that the difference?
I don't want to just know the answer, I want to understand.
I use Skirge Familiar's activated ability, discarding Dakmor Salvage to put B in my mana pool.
Gitrog triggers and I draw a card.
I choose to Dredge 2 with Dakmor Salvage.
Dakmor to hand, two cards into graveyard (if one's a land, draw another card)
Repeat.
But, if I'm hoping to retrace Syphon Life, Ulamog could shuffle it back into my library. For best results, should Discard with Skirge Familiar three times to get BBB, then a Syphon Life to minimize the shuffling of Syphon Life into my library?
When do I draw the card? Does the forest and ulamog hit the GY at the same time? Or do I shuffle then draw?
What happens to Syphon Life?
My Thought:
Syphon Life on the stack, The discard is part of the cost, triggering Gitrog. But Gitrog's ability doesn't go onto the stack until Syphon Life resolves (goes into the graveyard). I dredge 2, Dakmor to hand, I draw a card due to the forest, ulamog shuffles everything including Syphon Life into my library. No real way to save Syphon Life, besides keep the process going and get it back into my graveyard/hand.
Well, definitely not in Duel Commander, but in Multiplayer, I guess it depends on the play group. How else would I play my Living Wish in Karador! I like the idea of sideboards, mostly cuz there is just so much fun stuff to put in and only 100 spots. In my play group we allow sideboards for multiplayer. I always put in one card into my 100 that isn't necessarily the best card, but fun. Then that is the one that comes out, if I need a card from my sideboard when I'm getting destroyed by another players game. But I guess it is kind of a cool thing (and pure) to design a deck to fight their way through with only the deck built.
Back to the card itself, to think whether it would deserve a spot on the list of 50 non-land cards that are going into my build: Orbs of Warding
Besides having hexproof for spells unknown, In my meta/synergy I would be protecting against Bojuka Bog, Nekusar, the Mindrazer. My opponents Milling me is fine and actually good for my strategy. They help me card draw and I have Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre to stop Milling out.
Right now my gut is saying spot removal is better than orbs. But I'd love to be proven otherwise.
Id try to avoid the cipt fetches, both panoramas and mirage ones. Withh 7 hack lands and the cyclers you should have enough to keep drawing without eating a land drop and keeping up tempo.
Solid advice!
Adding these to the realm of possibility as the net me an extra land to sacrifice.
An opponent played a Wild Ricochet on my Buried Alive, hoping to choose my targets for me, as well as choosing to fail to find.
My belief is I am not targeting anything, his WR wouldn't do anything to the first go around, but then maybe he gets to search and bury three creatures as well, because of "Then Copy that spell."
Search for 2 basics to hand when YE hits the graveyard, shuffle
Draw a card
Scry 1
Can I scry before the card draw? Placing CS's triggered effect in between YE's activated ability.
And let's say due to having a Sensei's Divining Top out I already know the top cards aren't what I'm looking for, can I search for 2 basics to hand, shuffle, scry, then draw?
----Tried to find an article about this, I'm sure it exists. Pointing me that way will work for my answer as well.

Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
On the battlefield:
The Gitrog Monster
Skirge Familiar
In my hand:
Dakmor Salvage
In my graveyard:
Syphon Life
Scenario:
But, if I'm hoping to retrace Syphon Life, Ulamog could shuffle it back into my library. For best results, should Discard with Skirge Familiar three times to get BBB, then a Syphon Life to minimize the shuffling of Syphon Life into my library?
RULES PART Here's the idea/confusion:
When do I draw the card? Does the forest and ulamog hit the GY at the same time? Or do I shuffle then draw?

Instant speed
Tragic Slip
Putrefy
Dark Impostor hmmm...
Ulvenwald Tracker On flavor, great with Deathtouch general.
Sorcery speed
Ruinous Path On flavor.
Drown in Filth Likely to get me a land in my graveyard. Gets better as the game progresses.
Makes sense when you two lay it out, but gets confusing.
In response I cast Entomb, searching for Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, my graveyard and Ulamog are shuffled into my library.
Entomb then goes to the graveyard and is exiled, correct?
Solid advice!
Adding these to the realm of possibility as the net me an extra land to sacrifice.
Now thinking these too slow.
Play-type: Competitive Casual.
Style: TBD
Win-cons: TBD
Working on removal. Thinking defense against: Fate Unraveler, Underworld Dreams, Spiteful Visions, Nekusar, the Mindrazer
Trying to find lands that help me out here and valuing them against their nonland counterparts. Heavily considering Song of the Dryads. This way I can deal with any permanent (and possibly steal it with Herald of Leshrac)
I can johnny my way to World Breaker, but will need targeted defense against threats, especially Nekusar.
My meta plays clone effects on big threats, so I'll probably use Sever the Bloodline and syngergizes with dredge effects.
Maybe: Chainer's Edict

My, thought/guess is that since they all happen at the same time, they go on the stack at the same time, and I can choose the order.Catacomb Sifter and Yavimaya Elder are on my side of the battlefield.
I sac Yavimaya Elder to itself.
Effects that will happen:
Can I scry before the card draw? Placing CS's triggered effect in between YE's activated ability.
And let's say due to having a Sensei's Divining Top out I already know the top cards aren't what I'm looking for, can I search for 2 basics to hand, shuffle, scry, then draw?
