I play a very similar Mishra deck and have a small suggestion: run another planeswalker. If you have Possibility Storm in play and Tezzeret in hand, you won't be able to cast him. Maybe the other Tezzeret or Daretti.

    Sled_Dog,

A nice advantage to running Mishra is that you can use him to cast artifacts through your own Chalices. If you put Mishra's trigger on the stack first, then the Chalice, the artifact will be countered and then Mishra's trigger will move it from the graveyard to the battlefield (or you could go find a different copy from your hand/library). You can also use this interaction to slide things past counters, since your opponent would need to have Trickbind for the Mishra trigger to prevent it.

Yeah, Wrench Mind is probably the wrong thing to shave for it. I'll give it a try in another spot, just to see how it feels in practice. Thanks for the feedback.

Its probably too inconsistent even as a 1 of, for the reasons you mention above. It requires Waste Not and an opponent gripping lands to really start working efficiently, whereas Wrench Mind in that same spot would get 2 cards even without a Waste Not out.

Liliana is where you get full potential for consistent discard... so if you are not running her (and her insane price tag) then I think that would make the value of Psychic Miasma go up. Im not sure if it would go up enough to be relevant still though, as you would ONLY want it in the late game... so if you had to fire it off early in the game it would be saddening.

I'm running pretty much the stock list from the Primer, except with 3x Buried Ruin/3x Waste Not instead of Mutavault/Pack Rat.

Wrench Mind is definitely better T2, no argument. In dueling topdeck mode, it hits their only card same as Wrench Mind, except sometimes you get it back. It's that middle phase where the consistency difference lies. Wrench Mind will usually hit 2 cards. Miasma will mostly hit 1, unless they really want to hold onto their non-land cards, and then your available mana determines if you can run it back enough times to work through their land. It's a ratcheting effect by itself, and Waste Not just makes the mana unlimited.

I'm not 100% sold on it, it just looks like an interesting twist when trying to draw people in rack range.

I'm planning to try out running 1 Psychic Miasma in the place of a Wrench Mind, and was interested in some feedback on my logic. I play this deck in paper and don't get to jam as many games as I would for a MTGO deck.

    So, my thought process:
When your opponent is top decking, Wrench Mind will make them discard their card (if they didn't play it on their turn). For the same CMC, Miasma will get the discard and maybe you get Miasma back.

When your opponent is not top-decking, the comparison is fuzzier. Maybe they have an artifact so Wrench Mind would only get 1 discard, maybe they have a non-land they don't care about so Miasma isn't returned... Lots of variation. However, if you have a Waste Not in play and they are holding a bunch of lands because they are trying to stay above Racks, then you can empty their hand. (They discard land, you get the card back, get BB from Waste Not to play it again, repeat.) If they have a mix of land and non-land, their only correct move is to give you a non-land, which is more likely what you wanted them to ditch anyways. Their has been discussion about "what are you going to do with that BB when top decking" for Waste Not before, and this is a possibility. Also, if you turn them away from discarding a land because of this, then you'll get the upside of zombie or a card.

Wrench Mind definitely seems better in the initial turns, which makes me want to try a 3/1 split (and only with Waste Not). Way back in the thread MemoryLapse pointed out the importance of the Dakmor + Raven's Crime loop constricting around their hand late game, making any play a increase in rack damage. This seems like an interesting card, because when top-decked late game it has the possibility of pulling an all-land rack avoidance hand completely out.
