Glowmoss Gargantua4GW
Creature - Plant Fungus (M)
Vigilance, hexproof
Whenever an opponent taps a land for mana, you may put a +1/+1 counter on Glowmoss Gargantua. If it's your turn, you may put two +1/+1 counters on it instead.

Now that yesterday's voting is over, I'd like to ask, what were people thinking when they voted for this? Oh wait, they weren't. I mean seriously, look at this thing. Can you imagine sitting across the table from it? It's completely overpowered. And punishing opponents for tapping land for mana during their own turn simply should not be done.
The Niv-Mizzets are rare/mythic guild defining legends. They're allowed to a little more complicated if not convoluted and certainly more powerful. Commons should be as simple and elegant as possible. I'm not saying your original card is too complicated, just that it's unnecessarily complicated. I formatted the card suggested by others. I think it looks pretty sweet.
Nin's Savant (Common) 1UR

Convoke (Each creature you tap while casting this spell reduces its cost by 1 or by one mana of that creature's color.)
Target creature becomes a 10/10 Avatar with protection from everything until end of turn.
Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. I should have said humanoid nonclass creature type. After thinking about it, I think Orc might be interesting to explore in black. In Fallen Empires they're basically just Goblins in disguise complete with goofy art and bad abilities. I'm thinking of LotR style Orcs. It also fits the more traditional, basic (think core set) sword and sorcery vision I have for my set, which btw is simply named Magic Kingdoms. Thanks again!
Cool idea! I've always liked convoke, and a battleship-set seems an ideal fit to bring it back.
At first I was going to say "Why do you want one type of token for all the colors?" but then I remembered that if they are a central part of the set, you probably don't want Soldier/Merfolk/Zombie/Goblin/Elf etc. tokens running around.
I'm all for 1/1 race tokens (not class tokens such as Soldier) of each color if someone can think of a decent black one. I wouldn't mind Zombies or Skeletons, but Zombies are 2/2's and Skeletons have regeneration, and I want all of the tokens to be vanilla 1/1's. Here's my list so far:
White - Human
Blue - Merfolk
Black - Orcs?
Red - Goblin
Green - Elf
(I'll take One With Nothing over Norin the Wary any day.)
If you're emulating WotC, then you're designing for draft as well as every psychographic. This is an extreme Johnny card that will add a sense of realism to your set. It's that card that nobody wants to see in draft. It's that card that every Magic player loves to hate. It's that card that has everyone asking "why?". It's that card that fewer than 1% of Magic players will like and even fewer will play. It's that card that goes from $0.25 to $25 with the printing of one other card five years later. I like it alot.
Bridge Beyond1B
Enchantment (U)
When Bridge Beyond enters the battlefield, draw a card.
Whenever a creature enters the battlefield from a player’s graveyard, that creature gains haste until end of turn.
I like them all but just wanna comment on Bridge Beyond, which I think represents untapped potential, a raw idea, a diamond in the rough, and other similar metaphors. As it is, it's unprintable in that it's too narrow - that and the name sounds like a pre-flavor department playtest name. The cantrip is a nice way to make it at least, well, a cantrip if nothing else, but it's not enough to warrant a slot in a set. I suggest beefing it up to something more likely to see print as well as play.
Grave Circumstances (Rare) 4BB

I've been assembling a list of cards with the intention of designing a core set with convoke for the return mechanic and "battlecruiser or battleship magic" as the set style. Battleship Magic is what R&D dubbed the very deliberately engineered limited environment of Worldwake. The goal is a relatively slow, buildup limited environment enabled by sub-par mana-makers, defenders, levelers, and such, culminating with topped out levelers, Eldrazi bombs, and other game-winning mana sinks.
The most obvious and basic manifestation of battleship Magic is the Eldrazi Spawn which can be sacced to produce 1, and their namesake lords for whom they're intended to give their measly lives for, the Eldrazi themselves.
In my set, rather than sacrificial minions and Lovecraftian monstrosities, I'm thinking of two slightly different ways to pump out the fatties:
Convoke in all colors bolstered with colorless 0/1 CREATURETYPE* tokens and big critters/spells.
Convoke (Each creature you tap while casting this spell reduces its cost by 1 or by one mana of that creature's color.)
*I'm having a hard time figuring out a universal, existing creature type. Which is a big reason I'm here. If someone can think of a proper type that makes sense as a colorless vanilla 0/1 that has convokish flavor and fits all colors, then I'll choose this option.
or
"Construct" with colorless 0/1 Automaton tokens and hugemongous Artifact Creature - Constructs that have "Construct" is merely artificially flavored Convoke that would only appear on artifacts. This would limit the ability to artifacts only, which simply means it would have more artifacts and be more reliant on them than normal but not to the extent of Mirrodin.
Construct (Each creature you tap while casting this spell reduces its cost by 1.)
I guess blue and black is the way to go then. White certainly fits the mechanic as well but not the original pirate flavor so I included a white version too. DrKobolds point brings up an issue I didn't think of, which got me to thinking… bigger… much bigger. Check the op to see what I mean.

I checked it on MSE and the text actually fits surprisingly nicely without straining the eyes. Lemme know if there's a loop issue or something I'm missing. Thanks.
