The abilities feel low impact because in Gishath you're probably running Aura Shards which means you don't need his green ability.
The inverse of this is also true though; if you are running him, you don't need Aura Shards. And while Aura Shards is very good, personally I'd rather have the repeatable Naturaizle on a 9/9 vigilant reachy trampler with Lightig Bolt and half of Healing Salve as well.
Not how it works. Format-based deckbuilding rules and set exclusions do not constitute being on a banned or restricted list, or else this card would be able to get anything not in standard.
I feel bad admitting this, but I'm sure other people don't know either so I'll just ask, what the hell is the meme surrounding Storm Crow? I've heard people joke about it for years, but never have I actually understood what they were making fun of about it. Can someone please, in all seriousness, enlighten me about this?
So in your specific example, you declare the 1/1 as an attacker and pass priority. Your opponent then is able to cast an instant or activate an ability, in this case an Auger Spree targeting your 1/1. State-based actions are then checked, your creature is now a 5/-3 so it dies.
Your opponent can also do this in the declare blockers step for similar results. As long as your opponent casts Auger Spree before the combat damage step, the creatre will die and not do any damage.
You can check out more stuff on the combat phase rules here.

Day 0 errata? Lol
Oh I know. Just wishful thinking.

What is the misspelling? "Skullduggery," "skulduggery," and "sculduggery" are all correct.
Edit: N'athed
Well so far this set has been a grab-bag of mechanics and themes already, so why not add gods in too?
(I'm being sarcastic, but mildly so. I am genuinely looking forward to this set.)
