In short, yes! I've sold everything from old rule books to binders, to deck boxes and more. Just about anything with an MTG logo on it has buyers.

Came across this the other day. Trying to determine if it's real or fake. Passes the bend test and water test. Can anyone help based on these high res scans?

I have sold lots of player's guides and manuals on ebay before and they can sell for a decent amount. I wouldn't worry about the shipping cost, just make sure you factor that into your starting bid. I know you said you wouldn't consider ebay, but i think that is the best way to out them.

I sell tokens in lots by color as I come across them. The exceptions are Eldrazi Spawn tokens and other more unique tokens like Emblems and Wurmcoil Engine tokens as I can sell those individually or in play sets pretty easily.

I saw the ad for this exact card on craigslist. I passed on it because it looked too questionable. If you can take a high resolution scan we might be able to say more definitively.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. As for your question, I would take some high quality scans and send it the to SCG, ABU Games, and a couple other big vendors, just to get a sense of what prices you might be able to expect. You can also list them here, or on the high end MTG facebook page if you want to skip out on ebay. If you post on Craigslist, you will almost certainly be lowballed, but you can make sure you do a cash deal, so there is some benefit to that. It all depends on what you want to do and how quickly you want to turn the cards over. Good luck!

There are few stores near me that sell these for MSRP. I always get my pre-orders in the moment a product is announced. If you wait to see what's actually in them, it's usually too late. I also think the foil Hymn to Tourach will worth quite a bit.

The other thing that really baffled me about this is how someone came up with $2300 after 5 pm on a saturday. As far as I know most ATMs have what a $500 daily withdrawal limit, maybe a bit more? And I don't know of any banks open after 5 on weekdays let alone the weekend. Do I need to just have thousands of dollars on hand to not miss deals like this or what. Anyone have any idea how someone came up with that kind of money in the middle of the weekend? It had to have been either a storeowner, someone who buys collections and things on craigslist so seriously they had the cash on hand or they made the deal and the guy selling ignored other offers until the transaction could take place.

If you keep a lot of money in your checking account, you can generally get a higher limit for ATM transactions. Also, higher end banks like First Republic, US Trust, JP Morgan, etc don't have limits for their clients unless they specifically request them.

Might be a scam, might not be. I've found insane deals on MTG on craigslist many times. Sometimes people need cash right away and Craigslist is the best avenue for that. At the same time most people on Craigslist are not looking to pay retail for whatever they are buying. They want a great deal, maybe this guy understands that. In any event, if you are going to be buying high end cards from ANYONE you should be comfortable at identifying fakes, own a loupe, and try and meet up in public places to avoid any kind of shenanigans. It's impossible to know if this was a scam just from the ad alone.

I've sold gold bordered singles on ebay. I just sold a play set of Rishadan Ports for $3 a card. I've also had no problem moving complete decks for $20 to $50 a piece depending on the deck.

Thanks for the advice. I am not looking to sell boxes tho. I was thinking of purchasing cards by the case(opening them) and using those to sell singletons or play sets. Any thoughts on that?

If you have a way to get cases at wholesale prices it might work, but from what I understand you need a B&M location to get cases wholesale. I have a friend who gets boxes at whole sale prices, but even then it is rarely worth it to crack cases for singles outside of the first couple of weeks of each release. One strategy that some ebay vendors use is redeeming full sets on MTGO and then selling those cards as singles. I have no idea exactly how this works, but I think the margins are pretty low and you have do insane volume to make it worthwhile. If you want to make money selling singles, buy cards and buylist or better prices and sell them for as close to retail as you can. I have had success doing this via craigslist and now I even have my own buylist so people in my community come to me when they have cards to sell because it is easier than shipping them to an online vendor.

    Good luck!

I have an ebay store and I generally forgo selling boxes or complete sets. I get 99% of my inventory from buying collections via craiglist and other online outlets. I've found some good deals on boxes and such, but primarily I sell singles and play sets. Even if you have a B&M store, it's hard to sell boxes online for a profit. Singles is where all the money is at.

I suppose it all depends on the price you are able to get your singles at and how much real estate you want to give to singles compared to packs and other board games. I don't know what kind of margins you get on board games, but if you can get singles for 50% or less of the TCG mid price, I'd imagine it would be worth it to sell at that price.

I certainly can't see any reason for selling after rotation, unless you want to hold onto it for a real long time. It looks like sealed foil sets are selling for 370 - 380 on ebay. That seems like a good price to me. Whatever you do, I would not open it to trade or sell piece meal.
