I have been having a lot of trouble against show and tell/omniscience decks. I used to just pack ensnaring bridge but that does not cut it against the release the ants win condition. Need some ideas for the sb for that matchup.
The thing about Patrician's Scorn I think is that if you want/have to cast it during their turn/combat it may be more difficult. The only white spell we can play is PtE (and that's if they even have targets it can hit on the board, I guess we could hit one of our own guys) and then patricians costs 5 with thalia if you cannot use its alternate casting cost.
EDIT: also, I am not sure about the 23 land, especially with no canopy it feels like I get flooded a decent amount, though 23 seems to be the standard on here
Just figured I would throw my list on here that I am preparing for my first local modern event. A lot of it is pretty straight forward, but a few questions at the end.
A careful observer will first note there are only 59 cards listed. That is because I am quite unsure about my last slot. First I was thinking equipment like Mask of Memory or Infiltration Lens. Then I shifted over to maybe just having another beater like a Student or Avenger. Not sure if there is any other singleton that can benefit the deck.
Note also I would like to add Horizon Canopy but I do not own any, and am unlikely to acquire any soon.
Given it is just a local event I expect a lot more aggro and some combo than control, hence the prisons and reinforcements. Stony Silence and Rest in Peace seem like good choices and torpor orb for twin or pod if necessary. Tempest of light since people might pick up hexproof/bogle since its play in worlds.
Any input is appreciated, thanks for your hard work in the discussion thus far!
Hey, frustrated burn player here. I have been playing variations on this in pauper for over a year now and find it extremely difficult. I autolose to flicker and glimmer posts even with ld (they usually just counter it anyway). I also find the deck has a questionable matchup with infect.
But really the lifegain is a HUGE issue and there is a lot of it in pauper. Aside from glimmer post I have seen armadillo cloaks in hexproof decks and random other life gain. I really wish skullcrack was common...
Just a quick inquiry about blade splicer...do you think it would be worth it for me to play it with only flickerwisp for reusing it? Or do you recommend also playing resto angel as well or scrapping the splicer?
Ever consider something like Overmaster for the wildfire SB? I am not a legacy expert but it does seem like it could do something against permission, the one mana should not slow you down too much with all the mana production in the deck and the cantrip is always nice.
I was just wondering how the wildfire deck deals with artifact hate people might be packing for other decks. For example stony silence (?)
Just wanted to post to thank everyone for their contributions to my favorite archetype.
Just getting into legacy and beat someone with burn on MTGO, was a great match but he was not happy. "Enjoy poverty" he said...lol
I do not pilot it myself but I was just wondering if anyone ran Pact of Negation to protect the combo? It seems like it would be good considering the deck is basically 'all in' (assuming a one shot banefire) the turn it goes off. Seems like a way to prevent that first OtV or Faith's Reward from being remanded or something and leaving you with empty board.
Hey, thanks for all the hard work and card discussion in this thread. I was thinking of putting together a quick mono-U ninja deck for some local games. Only thing I am worried about is a win condition. Sure you are pecking away with damage but eventually most decks will be able to stabilize. I might be able to afford one Sword equipment (feast and famine or fire and ice) which will help but still. Any ideas?
Also how does the deck match up against infect and what kind of sideboard options do we have for them?
Hey everyone, great and robust thread here on a really cool archetype!
I was thinking of taking a monowhite build to my local modern fnm but I am a little worried (and I think someone in this thread way back may have mentioned this) about the infect matchup, especially since I know at least 2-3 people will be piloting some form of infect at my event.
Sure I see that thalia gums up their game pretty well but other than her we have very little to work with it seems. Really betting everything on either being able to block, and idk how well that works out, or PtE.
I have been running kind of a cobbled together version of this deck in mono white on mtgo in preparation for a local paper modern event. I have never played modern until now so I am new to the metagame, etc. I had heard many people saying it was aggro heavy but I am finding on MTGO many control decks and more permission than I had expected. Anyway, here is the deck (Disclaimer: due to budget it is missing a few things I wanted to put in I will list below, I will have these come time for playing in paper)
So obviously I would like to get more Sun Titan and the sideboard needs some tweaking since some of it is just thrown in for the moment. My feelings on some of the cards:
Martyr: This card has not impressed me much though I think it is partially the decks I am playing against. At the local game store level can expect to see more aggro and have more usefulness.
Emeria: Maybe it is just me but I am having a hard time getting this online. By the time I do it's either fairly irrelevant or mainboard graveyard hate like shaman or ooze has decimated my graveyard.
Gideon: I really like this guy but he has not won me a game yet. Generally he either gets killed due to them not having to pay the tax to attack him or he just gets blocked.
I would really like to have maindeck trinisphere rather than that singleton suppression field when I get ahold of some.
Overall I feel like the deck is a solid idea but mine obviously needs some work. I often can take control of the game but have a hard time winning and lose to the card advantage my opponents gain in Bob, etc.
This is my first time posting a deck on here so I look forward to hearing what people think. Thanks!
Hey everyone, new to modern and interested in the mono white version of this archetype. Wondering if anyone still uses the kami of false hope/proclamation of rebirth interaction mentioned in the op.

Thanks for the tip professor_x! I will try that out.
