    First let me thank you for giving a solid opinion before critiquing where I put this thread. Fact is I'm new here and still learning. Im not trying to do things wrong on purpose.

    2nd, time walk and all those wouldn't slow it down(cards like that will be very useable now in any set, specially modern! And could be the last of the overpowered cards we see for awhile), however all the creatures back then were more mana to cast for the damage they delta. People won't accept savannah lions or better yet creatures that are 3/3 for 4 mana at first, but will eventually be able to adopt them as the sets stayed neutral to the alpha esq remake.

    This isn't a troll feed! This if reprinted could change not just the pace of the game for the future, but will also still add beefy cards to modern play! Artifacts that produce 3 mana for 0, would amplify many modern decks, yet be the start of a slower pace for magics future, affecting standard first, then the rest of the sets. Im hoping that people will give a solid opinion, not just rude remarks!

    I personally think an alpha reprint will excite many players into giving up all the high ramp up bombs and creatures we have now for some good old classic magic. The re make could even be called Classic or original(I'm a stoner enjoying my KFC, don't hate! It's not like I wanted to rename it extra crispy!) Im also talking about this to replace the next core set,instead of M14 or M15. Anyways, I've wondered for a few years now, how is magic creators gonna tone down this runaway train? I truly think this is a great solution. Cause I guarantee people are looking at the next sets and are not impressed unless it's a 10/10 creature with trample, tap to win the game for 2 mana(just an example, not trying to name a real card). I think if magic doesn't do something like this, they will have to raise the life total to 50 or 100 for regular play. I think it would be sick to have mox's and black lotus's back and affordable! Also the excitement when some of us get to go through our old binders and get to put back into play some of the original cards. Let's hear your thoughts...

    I would disagree with that. I would say that there are many people that want him banned, not as much for no creativity, but tired of seeing no creativity with the circles of people they play. Emrakul is used as often as basic land these days! It takes more creativity to keep Emmy out of your deck. I could care less either way! These days I tend to use him in a hellcarver deck, and many times only use him for his timewarp ability, so I can keep the combo rolling and get the cards for my ending nuke.

    However you do have the crybabies that will cry for any reason so we all just need to make fun of them until they leave te game!(or have magic write in a rule that they have to fork over a mythic(like a curseing coin jar) an owe it to the person they're annoying by whining! The whining wouldn't stop but atleast all of us will get loads of free mythics at FNM! Lol (for the people with no personalities, I'm being sarcastic)

    Saying that Emmy is not interactive is not the right thing. Sure he's a beast but then again, if Emmy in RG Tron is too hard to handle, you're doing somehting wrong. The only times I lost against Tron was when they go turn 3 Karn without me being able to counter it. Emmy is not the problem. He gives you enough time to beat the opponent before he can cast Emmy.


    You are right. My bad dude! I've played this guy hundreds of times in the last couple years and not had one person be able to do anything to him(so never had cause for alarm). Many things I learn in this game is by playing many different people, unfortunately nobody tought me a lesson when it came to emrakul. Lol wish I would have had a player like you to have shown me in game. I understand what you mean, he's unprotected by creatures with like an unsummon abilities(any abilities but not colored spells). Thanx makes me a better player and opponent!

    What makes emrakul stupid Is he can't be countered or targeted by colored spells ability. If he could be taken or copied, would make this card more realistic. However, it's already printed and many seem to like playing with him. I'm one of those people many of you hate because I cheat him out. He's getting kinda old using him now, who cares iF he gets banned or stays in!

    • Khalni Heart Expedition is the first card I'd consider adding. When comboing off it will give you 4 more landfall triggers (crack, fetch 2 basics, second sunrise, get quest counters off ghost quarters and such, crack again). Might need to increase basic land count.

    • Harrow will recycle more lands with second sunrise and give you two more landfall triggers.

    Although it looks like a fun deck when it does go off, I think straight Boros will be far more consistent.



    EDH player? Mana breach isn't modern legal and strip mine isn't even legal in vintage...

    Bouncing lands just slow rolls the landfall triggers. With Second sunrise you're looking to combo off.

    Crab is off colour and unless you plan on decking them or using your own graveyard, the landfall will be insignificant.




    You both have great points! First khalani expedition, harrow,explore,And landfall lands(like scalding tarn ect) are the basics of landfall power. Combined with lotus cobra or ob nixilis is just nasty! You can put down two kahlanis and have one help pop the other one raining lands down on the board. oracle of mul daya is also a great land accelerant.

    Lol yeah, it makes a lot of sence that you can't take a collection into a tourney. I've just been frustrated trying to manipulate Battle of wits! Trying to figure out a way to get a playable 200+ card deck to use this card. I would never play with more than 60 cards on average, so I'm trying to think of a way to manipulate this... Maybe a way with that rare from zendikar block called something memory? It exiles nonland cards from your deck. But would need a way to retrieve all those cards that were exiled.

    Back to the deck. Do you think playing that card that gives an additional attack step with the demon coul work well? Seems to be doing well in the glass cannon deck. And hell carvers ability is more powerful than gristly, but alot more randon and backbreaking if you wiff.


    That is genius to be able to take back an ante card by using that! I can't tell you how many times people bug to play for ante and when you play them they have nothing but crap for the ante trade. I will def use this when I construct for ante. Thank you for sharing that trick! You're awesome!

    On the subject of world at war, it's as important of ingredient as butter is to cookies. Smile world at war and any card that reads "take an extra turn after this one" makes it keep rolling. Keeping the combo rolling is the key, once it stops it's a problem. However, I had emrakul and time warps with world at war and destroyed a round robin of ten on my 2nd turn using shallow grave an dark ritual to get out the hellcarver and attacking turn two, it rolled everyone and could have kept going! Unfortunately I want to be more competitive in modern so I need a new construction to accelerate hellcarvers attack with modern legal cards. Also since hellcarver casts whatever with out using mana, you're free to throw in a red card like world at war and don't even need to have red lands. Also used renegade doppleganger to try and give him haste a turn sooner( I made a mistake and quoted a phyrexian dopple earlier instead of renegade dopple)

    Also wanted to add why world at war is amazing with hellcarver! When you get your 6 cards for exile with your first attack, you should average 4 playable spells and get hosed with 2 lands(on average). World at war not only doubles it this turn but world at war also had rebound and gives you a double attack the next turn as well. So if you're opponent is open it allows you to swing for up to 24 cards and or 24 points... That either kills your opponent or if you're searching for a grand combo to lay down, you can use sorin markov to medic your opponent back up to 10 life to be able to swing more with hellcarver to receive more cards.

    That said, it's a funny casual modern deck, but it's not exactly competitive at a high level. You're not going to win a PTQ with this. I'd be surprised if you could win reliably even at an FNM level.


    I agree, hellcarver demon would be more competitive if animate dead or shallow grave was legal. Then first turn you could draw your 8th card and not play the land, just discard the hellcarver then you could shallow grave turn 3 or dark ritual it with shallow grave on turn two. However I can't figure out in modern how to pull this off. I've tried semblance anvil with crap demons to make hellcarver cheaper but still takes till turn 5. I've semblance anvil a rise from the grave, and even placed renegade doppelgänger to give hellcarver a turn sooner haste effect but still turn 5. Any recommendation on how to get him out faster? Maybe a lotus cobra combo? What do you guys think?

    the few cards spoiled seem ok. jarad seems to be useable if you can get out big enough creatures to sac. like rampaging baloths combined with landfall would be a good breeding ground for jarad to sling four spots for 3. maybe even a couple lotus cobras to help buy a second or third creature to be sacked. cant wait to see a planeswalker spoiled from this set.

    Yes but spawnsire of upshot allows you to take any number from outside the game( I will ask a judge to see if this only means sideboard) thanks for bringing that up, it's a combo changer if not able to take more than sideboard.

    lol i agree. everyone has to admit that wizards when making emrakul went overboard with how many powers it has. the fact it cant be countered or targeted makes it broken. it would be funny and more unpredictable if someone cheated out an emrakul and you were able to take control of him or copy him on your side.

    also kozlick should have been given more powers, the draw four cards is amazing and the annihalator is great but compared to emrakul they didnt beef up kozlick enough.

    ive used emrakul thousands of times. Not once have i ever hard casted him! i agree with you , if it gets to 15 mana out on their side, you should have killed your opponent by then. However summoning trap and hellcarver and elvish piper???? can get him out way before 15 mana hit the board.

    wow thats actually brilliant! ive been spacing the fact you can play emrakuls and timewarps all in the same turn to gain extra turns that extend past just an additional extra turn. i wonder if its possible to get out 2 training grounds, spawnsire of ulamog, then use that to put out infinity tokens that can be sacked for colorless mana to activate spawnsires"you may put any number of eldrazi into play from outside the game, then takes a stack of 200 eldrazi and put them on the battlefield, then attack with hellcarver sending all your battlefield into your graveyard and the emrakul makes them all shuffle into the library, then cast the final card from exile battle of wits? that would be just overkill and possibly the biggest mindbreak trap ever if countered.
