Most infinite combos die to a counterspell or a spot removal. If people complain about an infinite combo it is quite similar to when an agro player complains about a mass removal because they have an empty hand with a poor draw engine (or a lack of it)and so on. Maybe is a bit annoying, sure, there are tons of ways to deal with them, sure too.
Yes, let me just scrap playing a deck i enjoy to build a deck full of counters.
Your argument means that we have to play lots counters and/or lots of spot removal. First we have the task of getting the card, then we have to wait to use them on the X amount of combos a deck can do. You're basically saying that the only reliable way to counter a combo deck (reliably) is to play Dimir excursively if you don;t want to be hit by X number of combos (and by X i mean that combo decks usually have many different combos using different cards).
In my playgroup 'unfun' is anything using the following:
Infi combos
Mass land destruction
Repeatable land destruction
Chaos mode decks
We also discussed cards like Sorin, should these cards, rather than reduce to 10 do a "half life" ability so in EDH, 20.
Infect is also under discussion.
From my understanding a typical casual commander edh group will play with the following additional rules:
No mass land destruction
No repeatable land destruction
No infi combos (limited tick amount)
Generally don't be a "unsportsmanlike player" depending on you're playgroups viewpoint
Under these points im keen to make a vampire deck.
I'm sad that Cats deck is not Naya, although colors are not balanced...
Anyone able to translate that image?
From what i see:
This years 4 commander decks of 100 cards.
White, green.
White green and black
white black and red
5 colour.
Four new rules? (not sure on this bit)
WGB for the unknown deck. Well that means wizards aren't necessarily a lock due to the presence of green. Green screams human tribal. I'm holding out for clerics still. Runes around the portal, demon heads drawn on the walls and what looks like a demon-like horn rising up out of the portal behind the mysterious lady, who I think is Minaldra of the Vizag Atum, the leader of a secret demon cult in the Thraben.
Repeat the following X times. Does this mean that paying BB and 0 would make this hit once or is it once per X paid?
Sorry for the stupid question
It would be per X paid. BB and 0 would cause this card to be cast but do nothing.
Thank you, just settling an argument in a group chat
I don't think something that hasn't occurred can be "repeated". For this reason, I believe casting this for BB (X = 0) will still cause one instance of the effect.
I think the confusion came from the wording itself for an action to be repeated it has to have occurred in the first place.
I like the idea of using this as a method of exile in EDH.
My playgroup group has 3 Mimic Vat so the way I see it (correct me if I'm wrong), you can using the resolution check order copy the mimic vat, kill a threat/recursion creature, put it into your copy mimic vat and when it turns back the card in it is gone.

Can anyone clarify?

Not really hyped about cats

IO'm looking to make a new commander deck under the following playgroup rules:
No mass/repeatable land destruction
No infinite combos (these work a max of 5 ticks and are playgroup bannable with group consensus, so no abusing it)
Our current decks are:
Kaalia of the Vast
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner
Oloro, Ageless Ascetic
Thraximundar
Mayael the Anima
Do you wonderful members of the MTG Salvation community have an suggestions and builds?
I was looking at a Alesha, Who Smiles at Death however i'm unsure due to the appearance of using so many infi combos.
Thanks all!

On a non personal level this could be very powerful if you also play cards that limit casts.
I'd say mana cost wise it's a tad cheap so would make it cost a total of 4 rather than just 2.
My turn sorry my.phone isn't letting me format correctly.

If herald of emrikul is in the command zone you may spend colourless mana as if it was any colour.
