Warhammer is far less expensive, in the long run, than MTG. I sell and play both. There is an upfront cost to get into Warhammer, then you just play your army and add a figure here or there if you want to, or not. Adding an army to your collection is expensive, but most people only play one or two and focus on those. MTG is a continuous process of buying cards and making decks. In th elast 24 months I have personally spent less than $800 on Warhammer, and over $6000 on Magic.
You spend $250/month for the last 24 months on MTG? How, why, and what were you doing??
Yeah, you're right about the environment, but I've tended to find that at most FNMs that the high competition players tend to be the minority. I've seen environments all over the midwest, we might just be more laid-back here. I'm sure on the coasts things are more intense.
Magic is as expensive as YOU let it be.
Plenty of well made budget decks will win games at FNM (by budget I mean in the $40-100 range), if that's too rich for your blood, then just do drafts (3 boosters + whatever entry fee), or sealed events (around here it's $25 to enter and you are given 6 packs).
Also the current standard top tier prices are a bit unusual since so many of the decks are running 8-10 copies of the sac/fetch lands (average $20 a pop) and also multiple copies of our good old pal Jace 'the game breaker' which are around $70-80 a pop.
Remove those two anomalies and average standard deck prices plummet about $200.
Best of luck to you OP, the interactions I've had with WOTC customer service for MTGO have been abysmal.
Explain the situation and see if they will work with you. If not call you ISP to see if they can change your IP address and when you sign up for a new account, use a different credit card or paypal.

One other thing I'd like to point out, this is why services like MTGO and Steam are so problematic. The company can decide to ban you at any time, for any reason, and all those hundred (sometimes thousands) of dollars in digital product are just gone. Usually with no recourse to the customer.
is it fair to blame the godbook leak for poor nph sales though? seems like its just a convenient scapegoat. most of the things they blame for poor sales in recent memory seem like scapegoats that get around the real reasons. like poor design, or bad flavor, or what have you.
One of the first lessons you learn during your orientation at WOTC is the coveted finger pointing technique in which you are taught how to point at everyone and everything else for your shortcomings.
NPH was a weak set, BFZ was a weak set, and OGW looks to be another weak set. You just watch, if sales end up bad, they will cry up and down that it was the fault of the dastardly leakers!
I remember always loving that card's flavor text and always felt it was the definitive vanilla zombie at that time. I have no idea why it would be going for so much relatively. I actually have a bunch of these in my bulk "vintage" commons box....
Most of the standard players have jumped ship to play in the CMD and Modern events. Standard has degraded into a small group of the same money people playing netdecks against each other. Standard just doesn't feel engaging right now. Hopefully Shadows over Innistrad changes this, because oath of Gatewatch certainly doesn't appear to be shaping up that way.
Just reminds me of yugioh where when ever someone played any card whatsoever their opponent would go "Ohhhhhhh!" like they're just blow away the card could even exist. I don't really see people flinching or hesitating in these events, lol flinching away from a play so devastating. I just think it's hilarious when they try to insert drama where there is none, it's two steps away from reality TV.
Magic is a cerebral game, so any hesitation that players may have isn't always visible. That's all the more reason for commentators to point it out. Tournament jitters is a very real phenomenon that could deciding a match.
So basically, a junk mythic that might go for $3? It's the mythic you don't want to open.
If *this* is the "junk mythic", then this is a good set. lol.
I didn't say "the", I said "a", as in multiple mythics are "meh", OGW is shaping up to be very lackluster. Just watch them spin the poor sales on the evil leakers.
Linvala, the Preserver4WW Legendary Creature - Angel (M)
Flying
When ~ enters the battlefield, if an opponent has more life than you, you gain 5 life.
When ~ enters the battlefield, if an opponent controls more creatures than you, put a 3/3 white Angel creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
5/5

Honestly the only deck type that routinely frustrates me, is the counterspell deck.
It seems dismissive, because it is. I'm dismissing Plushy's complaints for what they are, petty and silly.
