I would be somewhat surprised if his base P+T was above 5 with that potential body.

I've found that R/G aggro is amazingly consistent and good.

This, this, this. So far, out of the arcehtypes I've gotten to play, this has been my favorite and most successful thus far. Even won a sealed tournament with R/G aggro (granted, I did get a Krenko, Mob Boss and a Primordial Hydra... straight up dirty pool). In this set, R/G sets you up to have a strong board at every point of the game.

He likes pairing with Thundermaw Hellkite to take down that U/W fliers deck. Smile

You're not gaining actual card advantage per se, but you get virtual card advantage.

In the case of Visionary, it's pretty obvious why you gain card advantage, and that is actual card advantage. With a token generator like Thragtusk, Captain of the Watch, Attended Knight, and their ilk, you're getting free tokens that you can keep putting into play.
Then, with some ETB that's neither of those things, you're getting free effects that you don't actually burn a card on like Acidic Slime or possibly a Yeva's Forcemage if you can make it work.

That said, I wouldn't venture that Primadox would see much if any constructed play, but after all, this is the limited forum.

This. Only difference is that I would put the Elephant above the Bandit because of Bandit's two mana activation cost. Obviously he costs more, but he does have the distinction of not dying to an unassisted Spear.

I agree with Cower going into the sideboard. It's really not that good. I was playing a sealed last night and had overrated it and maindecked it. I think it tends to be an overrated card. The only time it wound up doing much for me was against a guy that had at least two Merfolk of the Pearl Trident in his deck. Against somebody with two MOPTs, you probably shouldn't need much help anyway :p

I agree with what Semantics says about it. Not enough super solid X/1s to justify a maindecking. As a combat trick, you'd expect it to do more, but thus far from what I've seen, it just doesn't do enough. It sits in your hand too often. Against exalted, it makes it a sad day for Aven Squire. If they've got some kind of white weenie stuff with Crusader of Odric and its engines like Captain's Call and Attended Knight it would also be an all-star.

As is, I see it as hosing one color fairly well, but that does not a maindeck make.

Triple Champions at the pre-release. It was my first sealed tournment, and despite being awful at Magic, I actually went 3-2 and scored a prize pack or two with W/B Samurai with plenty of evasion (that's back when I thought Lantern Kami was really good).

Not knowing what I was doing, I essentially forced the same kind of deck in draft and it was terrible. I remember the guy that I played against had seemingly 20 Glacial Ray which he just endlessly spliced onto one another.

im new to magic so correct me if im being a noob, but you have to pay the 4 mana for the primadox and the mana to replay the creature you targeted for primadox, so 4 mana for the primadox and (for example a 3 cost creature) 3 mana for some creature to replay, that equals 7 mana and oh the 3 mana creature will never get to attack, which if i play cloudshift for 1 mana, i have 6 mana to do whatever and my creature still gets to attack

    Three points:

    1. We're talking about limited, specifically M13 limited. Unless you're running some kind of kooky draft, you don't have Cloudshift at your disposal.

    2. As others have pointed out, part of what makes Primadox cool is that you're not losing card advantage to bounce your stuff, and in fact, you're creating virtual card advantage, particularly if you're using token makers or other powerful ETB effects. Abandon the limited thing for a second. Still, Cloudshift takes up a card on it's own which Primadox's ability doesn't. Even if you go way back and you're using Momentary Blink, you're still giving up a card slot that you wouldn't have to with the Primadox, even if you could blink something twice.

    3. Yes, the creature won't attack if you keep bouncing it. But, you're not going to care if that creature is an Elvish Visionary, a Bond Beetle, or even a Thragtusk. Particularly in the case of Visionary and the Beetle, you're not paying much mana to throw them back out there anyway. Ideally, you're not goining to be scooping things that you're interested in having as attackers, so it's not much of a drawback that the thing you're bouncing (if you continue bouncing it) will not attack.

In short, you seem to be overly harping on the potential downsides of the card without fully considering how that downside can easily become a tremendous upside in the limited environment.

Ring of Evos Isle is another one that I could see playing off-color as a shield of your best guy from targetted removal. I don't think that haste, vilgilance, or trample are quite enough to be considered if they are off-color.

I'm hoping Helix wouldn't be the only one. How about some Watchwolf, too? And while we're on it, WotC could do worse than to throw us Char again. Cool

I say Boros now, but it will really depend on the power level of each guild for limited. Ask me when the spoiler's close to complete :p

  • posted a message on Availability of Guild Boosters outside of Prereleases?
I'm thinking that guild boosters outside of the pre-release would likely be a no go because the actual value of each guild's boosters would inevitably get pretty varied. For example, some guilds will have exclusive chase rares, and even the shocklands are not created equal when it comes down to how much they sell for individually.
