It really depends on how obscure that you'd like to get. You could go as commonly as artifacts or enchantments or creature types or go as obscure as combat phases, upkeeps and the top card of your library.
There are only 13 cards with scavenge and aside from Varolz, the Scar-Striped, there aren't really any good EDH scavenge cards.

Can one make a great/competitive Defenders deck?
Some type of Cycling-reanimator deck could be interesting?
I guess an Evoke/Elemental deck could work with Horde of Notions...
Proliferate is cool but you would probably end up with either planeswalker good stuff or some sort of simic-Vorel of the Hull Clade/Experiment Kraj deck.
I'm just thinking to myself here. I'm kind of bored with my decks and want to build around something..not tribal though, any suggestions?
Wanderer is more powerful, but the nature of Cascade leads it to playing a more linear "dumb" game, as you really don't want to cascading into answers for threats that aren't there (or especially counterspells). You also don't want many cards that are heavily reliant on synergy. So Wanderer is usually just ramp, ramp, ramp...generic goodstuff. A powerful but boring deck most of the time.
Riku can definitely be the same, in fact the two builds at my shop basically are ramp into powerful ETB creatures and draw/timewalk effects (i.e. mostly stuff you see in every UGx deck). But at least Riku is open-ended enough to allow for the POTENTIAL for a more interesting deck.
Doesn't the lack of counterspells and answers make the deck worse/less powerful though?
Really? I think Wanderer is 10 times more interesting than Riku. You never know what you're getting, while with Riku you and everyone on the table know exactly what's going to happen. Wanderer has alot more "oops I win" situations which makes me think he is stronger than Riku.
I think the "never know what you're getting" statement is wrong. In a well-tuned wanderer deck, I think the player would always try to Mystical Tutor, Worldly Tutor or even Brainstorm exactly what he/she wants.
Not really because one may want all the cards, but to preorder for $45, keep a couple of things and trade the rest off individually to make a profit or whatever.
Those aren't mechanics.
Yeah that is a good one for mono-colored decks.

P.S. What deck plays Prophet of Kruphix better?
---
Also, I added a poll. Should have done that from the start. Looks like MW will get more votes though.
Which deck is better/more powerful?
Would these two decks really be so different in the end? If so, in what way?
Knowing the list..
...is it worth picking one of these up for $45?

Good in EDH? What decks would you use it in? Is it better than spells such as Farseek or Cultivate?
Pact of Negation and Force of Will let you tap out and still counter spells.
Do you find that your curve is too high?
Are Khalni Heart Expedition/Font of Fertility really worth a spot?
Have you considered Sigarda, Host of Herons as part of the 99? What about Armageddon? Worldly Tutor?
Is Guard Gomazoa needed?
I don't think Bronze Bombshell's 7 damage is a big enough effect. Same with Delusions of Mediocrity.
Indestructibility doesn't same great either.
I recommend adding: Path to Exile, Sphinx's Revelation or Blue Sun's Zenith, Wild Ricochet, Academy Rector, Consecrated Sphinx, Gilded Drake, Silent Arbiter, Vedalken Plotter, Political Trickery, Replenish, Celestial Dawn (give it to someone not playing white and they cannot play anything for rest of the game), Copy Enchantment (copy and give away your win cons), Dovescape, Form of the Dragon, Catch // Release. That's all I can think of right now - hope it helps

This is all in relation to an Izzet based Control deck.
1. Are cards such as Fire // Ice, Turn // Burn, and Electrolyze too small of effects to be viable in EDH?
2. Is Tidespout Tyrant good even without infinite mana/the Palinchron combo?
3. Is Djinn Illuminatus a good card? Or does it cost way too much?
4. What about Kederekt Leviathan?
5. Is Invoke the Firemind ever worth running when there's cards such as Blue Sun's Zenith available?
