Tovolar is super busted lol.
I'm thinking they should just make the transform flip say on the night side "if an opponent cast two or more spells, transform X". That way, your opponent actually has to play out their hand or go against stronger werewolves while you can play whatever you want. Of course that would have to be balanced but still.
I'll add to the discussion later. Got to go to bed. Yes, Planeswalkers and man-lands hurt but I'll explain my intuition for dealing with them later on.
Radiant Purge seems like it could be good right now for us. I agree on the man-land thing; that's where my losses come from so that's a great observation and addition to the thread. B/W control seems like they would hate Radiant Purge and it saves you from using a counter that would be otherwise baited or forced.
People always become scared of Declaration because of the clue we leave on their side. While they do get to draw, that exile effect creates openings. Against an experienced opponent, they'll attempt to net cards at your end step with the clues (or if desperate, tap 2 on their turn to find an answer). That's when you'll have creatures to swing and/or counters ready to ruin their plans. Reflecting on what I wrote earlier, Declaration and Displacement Wave are gross together; exile multiple copies of things and then Displacement for 2? There's no coming back from that game 2 if it's needed.
While I agree on Overwhelming Denial being a counterspell after turn 4, we shouldn't be vomiting counterspells everywhere to need an uncounterable one; I always end games with one or two hard counters in hand. I also have not faced an Esper build with this yet, so O.D. would be great in that matchup.
On Friday I'll be going to FNM so we will see how it goes.
I've been toying with a UW control deck idea off and on and I think it's going to be the deck I go with for the coming months.
Here is the list I have right now:
I've tweaked based on my experiences and what has been commented on in this thread. I have yet to put this together but do have most of the cards already. I used to play an Esper Walker build, which is why I am running 3 Narset and 2 Jace (both of whom are fantastic both at card draw and as a means to reduce damage aimed at you). Any feedback on the deck would be appreciated and I'll update as I use it.
This seems good! Two Negate mainboard is a commitment but its based on your meta, correct? As written above, Overwhelming Denial is good late game but Void Shatter is better than it almost all the time. Jace is amazing. Very great at absorbing damage and I think you're running enough Narset as well.
EVERYONE: Please write your tournament results and I'll attach it to the original post.
Anticipate and Epiphany At The Drownyard. You just need a two land hand and Anticipate or a three land hand. One of these scenarios happen almost 100% of the time for me. Also, Displacement Wave is nuts. Beat a G/W tokens build handily today due to it. Wiped about 8 tokens and some clues.
What the hell did everyone want from Wizards? You guys are so damn spoiled.
