Right now I'm getting used to the ropes. ShadowLancer also got made admin, so at some point we'll need to sit down and see what we need to do on the site.

I think I may need to merge some sub-forums here in Commander, just due to the change in the quantity and type of traffic and whatnot.

In the first day of being admin, I learned that I was exactly right in my wanting to not ever to go for this.

Yeah, it can be overwhelming at first, but I have faith in you. I always advocated for you in the upper lounges because you have a good head on your shoulders.

Hey bob, I see they made you an admin. Congrats. Any big plans brewing?

I believe cryogen owns a copy and is an advocate of unbanning it in commander. His support for unbanning Recurring Nightmare is a bit more known though.

This is true, but any correlation is minimal. I actually bought it years ago before it spiked so that I could have it for my cube. As for the card itself, there are probably 10 cards I would ban before I banned Library (if it were legal), and it is the number one card I would unban if price weren't a factor.

Recurring Nightmare at this point is a meme. I'm actually on the fence more leaning towards leaving it banned.

Just in case anyone was curious about the results and had a hard time seeing the individual data, I have posted all the results (excluding every single write in). You can see them in the first post of this thread: https://www.mtgnexus.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=500

Thanks again to everyone who participated!

I am like... 90% sure that WF joined staff after you did. He actually didn't join as a commander mod at first (I want to say he was a mill mod) but was later added when we saw that he was posting like.... literally everywhere.

You might be right. I remember that jay came on staff a month after me, then became a global a month after me, then forgot his place and adminned before me.

Eh... close enough. Looking at it again, 2012 is when I modded up. So I guess you joined when I joined mods. Some reason I thought you were here longer.

I lurked for a bit. But yeah, I joined you, ISB, and WF when Gaka and Weebo left staff.

no, not that. You said 7 years ago... which would be about 2012. Thats close to when I joined MTGS.

The join date under your name says otherwise....

I'm so confused by people that want to ban tabernacle. I HAVE a tabernacle, and I struggle to find places to play it where it's not mostly just a useless hate-magnet. I've used it in two decks out of about a hundred, and that's only because I'm dying for an excuse to show it off.

I mean I'm sure it's annoying but it basically never comes up and it's not that good when it does. It's only really good in a deck that's already running a ton of other stax pieces, and you aren't fixing that problem with one ban.

    But that price tag, yo.

Did we start at the same time?

Start what? Staff? I thought you started before me. I replaced Weebo and Gaka.

Seven years ago today I started arguing into the void and asserting my correctness in EDH. Good lord that seems.so long ago.

Greed is always a motivating factor.

Yes, if you're a greedy person. Do you have any evidence that they have been greedy in the past or done shady things with the market?

which one has the Rocket scientist wife or is this just one person?

    Sheldon is the trophy husband.

Rich people can't be greedy? Have you ever interacted with people in real life?

    Unfortunately, yes.

But I think since you have zero evidence it's more likely that greed wasn't a motivating factor here.

You cannot have a 3rd party that exists in the secondary market be in charge of a banlist. It leads to corruption. Prime example unbanning Painter's Servant. Any player who's been in mtg awhile knows the cards that are inherently used around this and can just hoard them, unban servant and sell out.

It's insider trading and WotC needs to take over the banlist before this gets out of hand.

Yes, I'm sure that a Wizards employee, a level 5 judge, a PhD, and a dude who writes for SCG weekly, gets an active duty military pension, and has a rocket scientist wife need to skim a couple of bucks by unbanning cards just to flip them.

That seems like a perfectly logical conclusion.

The thing of it is, everything they said are things which got the site to this point. None of it is relevant now, because the site has new owneez.for all we know, once they get settled with the transition they may do some heavy dev work and roll out some cool new features. No one can say for sure. When we were owned by Curse, there was red tape. A lot of it. And the more we got swallowed up the more tape there was and the more that precious dev time got divided among projects.

I'm not going to speak one way or another about the current owners of this site because to be perfectly honest they weren't any of the Curse reps that I dealt with personally. I know OF one of them from speaking with other staff members, but that's about it. But the fact of the matter is that this site isn't going anywhere and it'll do what it has always done when staff members leave: hire new ones and carry on. I know Bob is still here and I've already said that I would help the new staff if they'd like, as well as offer my opinions on any potential hires. And maybe some fresh blood with a new vision is going to be a good thing. I don't know. But there's no reason why the two communities can't coexist. This forum isn't threatened by the official forums, and vice versa.

Done, and done. I like this idea(must have missed it previous years), and I look forward to the data that results. Will you share said data after the polls close?

I will. If you attempt to open the survey again it will take you to a "you already completed this survey" page that has an link to view all results.
