    Well, to be fair, I thinks it’s been pretty clearly established that MLD does not Combat Ramp in the slightest. Muddying the thread aside(and who are you to make this claim) MLD isn’t the answer anyways, so again, what’s your point?

    Buffsam makes a good point. Can we focus less on the social aspect of playing MLD and get back to the original intent of the thread, please?

    So I'm looking at a few cards I want to try out in a deck and struggling for what to remove (the particular deck is moot) but it got me thinking. Has anyone built a deck with a a couple of slots intentionally as placeholders where you can freely swap cards for testing purposes?

    So is the issue that you and your group have a difficult time building decks that perform as they're supposed to, or that bookkeeping is a pain? Because I have built a fair number of decks that consistently eliminate opponents and win games through Commander damage. I also bring a deck box full of various dice, not unlike NoNeedToBragoBoutIt described.

    Something strikes me as really wrong about the strong bias toward content producers but I'm not really prepared to make a strong case. Just rubs me the wrong way. Plenty of pillars of communities that don't write crap on the internet. I get that it's the easiest thing to review their body of work.

    Not sure what my counter suggestion would be, it just sniffs wrong to me.

    Sorry that's kinda vague.

    I kind of get what you're saying, since there isn't really much diversity on the CAG in that sense. But the issue remains, how does the RC find that pillar without being able to pull up a bunch of articles or podcasts to read/listen to?

    Why is the focus on content producers?

    Just a for instance but if there's a long standing high level judge, or a popular personality who isn't necessarily a writer, why not include them in your net?

    It isn't necessarily, but they are the ones who you can most easily their resume.

    Sorry, I thought I was leading back there with the 'support' discussion which is that PoK requires less support than most cards and less than some others on the ban list already.

    One could make a pretty strong argument that Balance and Tolarian Academy require more deckbuilding support than PoK, and these are among the more serious offenders on the banlist.

    I don't mind talking about other cards as they compare to Card X, but was getting pretty focused on other cards.

    Please bring the discussion back to focusing on Prophet of Kruphix.

    So I did a quick looking up of these people listed on the cag, and what i'd be worried about is how diverse is this group really?

    Am i wrong in thinking that they all basically represent a north-american perspective on the game? I couldn't actually figure out where these people are from nor where they live, so i might be wrong in that. Shouldn't we have a somewhat more diverse voice in this group? I'm not sure how similar the EDH
    'meta' looks worldwide, but i know that the legacy meta definitely looks different comparing here (europe) with the US, so i'd guess that the EDH meta would look and feel highly different comparing say chinese with australian, brazilian with nigerian.

    I can definitely understand that it might be harder to find people from other places, especially when language can be a barrier, but it would be pretty good if that were possible.

    Also, is there a way for us to know for example, how actually 'un-echoey' this group actually is? as in is it possible to have a short-list of hot-topics in the EDH rules and see how diverse the voices are within those topics (or is this just asking for trouble)? As in 30-starting life, remove commandsr damage, 100-card strict size limit, ban-list, implementation of a points-restriction list, sol ring and so on?

    I believe Sheldon on a recent podcast stated that a goal was to eventually find potential CAG members from outside North America. He even remarked at how one person brought an entire market to Japan and how big that thing became (I can't remember the exact specifics and am too lazy to look, but the important part I'm mentioning is that he was aware of wanting geographic diversity in addition to ethnic, gender, and playstyle diversity).

    Aside - I'm interested as to why Karn/Ugin got votes here; someone harboring a grudge, or based on CMC? They're tedious to play against, but I think it's pretty hard to debate their value in the format; if you own them you should run them, IMO.

    Splash damage from the planeswalkers as commanders thread?

    Well I ended up voting Mirror Entity (don't think I've ever seen this played outside of Sliver Queen combo), Fleshbag Marauder (pure upgrade to Plaguecrafter) and Xiahou Dun (don't ever see this played), Natural Order (never makes the cut every time I try to use it), and Thran Dynamo (I've always found this to be a mid-tier mana rock). Don't know yet how I'll vote next week.

    As an aside, I just realized that Eldritch Evolution isn't on the list. That seems like an oversight to me. Oh well, there's always next time.

    And you're assigning a conclusion that I never even discussed. Metalworker is just a good example we can reasonably compare for mana explosiveness.

    It being unbanned but previously banned is both an argument for and against PE--against because PE is equally or less mana explosive, but for because PE is far more problematic in other ways than Metalworker, but almost as explosive.

    All I'm trying to do is establish a TMM2Q score which I think I have, somewhere around 4 to 5/10 - similar to metalworker but not as bad as mana vault or sol ring. Probably in the vicinity of grim monolith as well.

    PE TMM2Q score: 5/10 (hell, I could be convinced on 4.5/10 I guess, but it's definitely up there)

    If we all agree on that or at least close enough for government work, which do you want me to hit next? Or if you don't care I'm fine to let it rest Smile

    The other two items I think PE hits on at least some level:

    * Creates undesirable game states
    * Problematic casual omnipresence

    Maybe I missed it, but what is a TMM2Q score?

    I don't remember having that much trouble with geddon. Live and learn, don't overcommit, etc.

    But one problem is players who play it incompetently, like if they're about ready to lose. Only a good idea of the threat you're about to lose to has landfall and you know opp has Boundless Realms in his hand, and there are no other potentially lethal threats out there. (In other words, never a good idea.)

    The problem is, as I recall someone stated before, EDH generally speaking has a sacrosanct approach to lands that are "just" lands, so there really isn't a need to hold back land drops just because what if maybe someone casts a MLD spell. If I operate under that mentality I'll lose more games than I win because I'm either artificially missing land drops or arbitrarily increasing my land count for a situation that probably won't ever occur. Of course, all bets are off if I'm in a known group that runs MLD. But for the majority of us, it isnt overcommiting to play a land drop every turn and not sandbag a few lands.

    I think there is truth in saying PE needs support. After all, in order to go off with it you not only need critical mass of non land mana producers, but you also need a draw engine in order to keep casting spells.

    Polls are up. With the exception of the black creatures, each category had only one card receive enough support, so the card that receives the most votes to be removed will go on to next week (black had four cards so it will be the top four). Next week we will vote between the cards voted on this week against the cards nominated last week. Underrealm Lich has already been changed on the list because it was the only one that received enough support and replaced Leovold.
