It's actually 74/75. Instead of the Spirebluff Canal in Nikolich's list, Kevin Jones opted for a basic mountain.

Shoota Yasooka (yaya3) just 5-0'd a MTGO league with this list. It's quite an interesting configuration, but Shoota's lists are always interesting to say the least.

That list is based off of this list that did well at the MTGO PTQ the week before. I'm frankly quite surprised at its performance since this would've been when Scapeshift and Tron decks were prevalent right after their great performance at the GP the week before.

You mispelled Larry Li as Raymond Lee. Larry won with GR Titanshift.

A few notable players such as Kevin Jones and Harlan Firer were on UR Kiki Moon at the SCG Invitational. Harlan seems to have done poorly while Kevin Jones was 9-3 when Modern started on day 2 but ended up 11-5 overall so his day 2 modern results weren't impressive. Gerard Fabiano, however, is on Temur Moon and is in first place at 13-1-2 going 5-1-2 in Modern I believe since he drew his last two matches. I like the deck a lot, especially his sideboard. The deck reminds me of what Temur Twin would look like postboard when configured to grind. If I remember correctly, his one loss was against Jeskai Control, actual control with Azcanta, Sphinx, etc., piloted by Benjamin Nikolich.

Sounds great! I'm curious to see what Jonathan and Harlan think of the more traditional draw-go style lists that were all over SCG Open Baltimore.

I sold out of modern a few years back, but I'm looking to get back into it. I can buy into any deck so price isn't an issue. I'm interested in any deck that can grind out value but is also decently positioned in this metagame. I've been looking at Jeskai Tempo (Queller + Geist), but my impression is that it's a tempo deck first and actually doesn't grind that well. There's Grixis Control which plays a lot more sources of CA, but that deck doesn't exist as far as competitive metagame share goes. Of these two decks, which matchups are favored/unfavored? How do they do against Abzan, Jund, Death's Shadow? Also, is Eldrazi Tron just the best "midrange" deck right now? I've heard it crushes all the fair decks in the format and only loses to fast linear aggro and combo.

Kyle Boggemes is currently 8-1 and in 4th place w/Bant Company at SCG Open Cincinatti. His board is the following

    3 Unified Will
    3 Path to Exile
    3 Burrenton Forge-Tender
    3 Geist of Saint Traft
    2 Qasali Pridemage
    1 Walking Ballista

I saw some copies of Spell Queller and Reflector Mage but didn't catch anything else that wasn't standardized.

I'm legitimately excited for this open. The new set might seem innocuous in terms of overall power level, but some of the cards have the potential of spawning new decks or breathe new life into old ones. I wonder if Temur Energy will thrive again with Abrade, and if Abrade and Hour of Devastation can keep UW Monument from remaining a contender.

To clarify, Abzan only refers to the midrange version of the deck and excludes something like Abzan/Devoted Company, correct?

I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet, but a Tezzeret deck that uses both AoB and Seeker got 3rd at a MTGO Modern challenge. You can find the list here if you scroll down a bit. Though the first and second place decks are a little unusual, the rest of the decklists seem pretty standard so this is encouraging.

This deck is starting to catch the attention of the mainstream magic community. Gerry Thompson did a video series with it here.

Sam Black wrote an article where he goes over some brews, including a Company version of the deck, essentially with Saheeli Rai and Felidar Guardian as the only non-hittable cards. It's definitely not as consistent as a deck that would play Chord or Evolution, but he does bring up a good point about the deck being able to ramp to 6 fairly consistently while also being able to disguise itself as a regular Company deck. Still, most good players would probably expect an infinite combo with the colors and card choices anyway so the surprise factor might not have much of an impacct.

Sam Pardee also uploaded a video series about the deck. His build is very similar to the ones on here. The notable difference is that he only mains 2 copies of Evolution.
