I have a friend in my playgroup that drives me up the wall. He's probably one of my best friends, but out of the six or so of us, he's the one who just can't seem to relax. He flips out if he isn't winning and he is a sore winner. I mean, he is just the worst to have win against. He is also flippant about your cards. He will get excited and amped up about a purchase or draw he made, tell you about it, but if you do the same back? He dismisses the card as either garbage or uninteresting.

The worst trait about him though? His staunch refusal to play games to the completion when he is losing. If he is winning, he will play all the way to the end, but if he even gets a whiff of a loss, he immediately concedes and wants to start over. I get that in some situations you are hopelessly going to lose, but part of the fun for me is seeing the crazy things that people pull off in their decks, and I have no problem losing, and am certainly not going to concede. That ruins the fun.

Magic is a game of luck before skill.

That's not even close to true.

Consider the fact that you have to design what goes into your deck. Sure, you can look online for ideas, but ultimately what you put in there is up to you. Secondly, while you may not have direct control over your draw, you do have to have a measure of skill at deciding what to do. Being one step ahead of your opponent, being ready to react, or knowing when to be patient, even as your life total dwindles. Luck comes when you draw the perfect opening hand, skill is how you use it. Skill will always trump luck, even in mana draws, because you decided which lands to use, and how many of them to use.

Rewind was always one of my favorite, slap you in the face counterspells. In legacy I would always use this one first when I had the mana and keep my counterspells on reserve. People are more wary when a blue control player has untapped mana.

I'm kind of indifferent if my name breaks any of the rules, though I actually don't know if it does or not. I don't think it is hard on the eyes, there aren't any numbers, it isn't based on a video game or anime, and it isn't asian... lol.

Hello to everyone! Long time player, and I've lurked on these forums for ages, but never really considered participating until recently. I started playing around with magic in '95, but didn't get really involved with it until Mercadian. I quit playing around Onslaught though, because of life changes and other obligations. Around last December my brother and a friend of mine dragged me back into it, and I have to say, I've been loving it. Hard to adjust to some of the changes, and Commander/EDH is something I had never experienced, but am steadily growing to love. Hopefully I can find ways to contribute to this community, as well.

This may not be one of the greatest cards, but I am in love with the artwork for it. Back during the pre-release I actually won quite a few games with a U/W 40 card deck, largely thanks to a combo between this and, oddly enough, a Seraph of Dawn.
