I don't know - I'm going to look forward to caring about the commons that I pull, rather than rushing to the rare - though Return to Ravnica was the first time that happened since original Rav, so now I feel kind of spoiled.
The issue here is that instead of cube drafts, multiples of cards can be opened. So while in draft you had no issues as long as everyone stuck to their gameplans, here you can open too much/too little of certain archetypes (also Past in Flames/Pyretic Ritual won't be seeing reprints - too soon).
True, but if storm is going to be played, those cards kind of need to be there. Any other ideas on what storm could be?
I'm hoping Bob. Love that card so much, and seems like the right rarity for limited (aka the breaks the game in half rarity). I have a feeling we'll see Ravager there, and perhaps Thoughtseize.
I'm hoping this set will be the cube draft of my dreams, because I'm too poor to have ever seen a cube in my time playing Magic. It feels like WotC has been loving on Cube since that Cube Pro Tour a while back, and that may be as much reason as any that we're seeing this push.
Also, I'm curious how WotC will accomplish the "Faeries vs Storm vs Dredge" metagame that Forsythe was bragging about. It would take a bit of work to be able to push all these different strategies to draftable levels.
EDIT:
My bad. But this is better anyways, as GPs have open entry requirements (as I implied with the product numbers... idk what I was thinking ).
I wonder how storm will be draftable as well. If I see lots of Pyretic Ritual effects, a Past in Flames, and a bunch of Grapeshot floating around in my limited pack, I am going to wonder why they didn't just build event decks.
Assuming you would only be able to get the low out of selling them (as you can't command the prices of a major retailer), then Goyfs haven't been selling low $90 since May. And even if you could've gotten an extra $40 on $320, I've seen price fluctuations of sub-15% happen in Magic cards without any kind of stimulus whatsoever. It's within an acceptable deviation.
I agree with what you are saying. We should probably turn the topic back towards the initial product, so what do you think the other mythics in the set (or whatever it is) will be?
Because $40 is a tiny amount in the adult world? I'd rather have more people to play with than worry about a couple hours worth of money. Also best goyf deck in modern has 0 blue cards.
I agree with the $40 part, but Goyf just fits in any deck because he is splashable. I don't understand why people take loose comments/jokes so literally sometimes.
This has always sort of irked me... If youre playing Magic as an investment then youre sending your money wrong. There are better ways to invest money. Its a game... No one should be mad that other people might be able to play it too. I could understand if they did something catastrophic like free 4 Goyfs for everyone or something that would realllly mess up things but this just makes its slightly easier for people to get them. Its a minor price drop, and you shouldnt have just owned the Goyfs cause they had value. Obviously im stating all this as an opinion on the game, not a be all end all of what if right and wrong.
Anyway im very pumped about this and excited to see what will be included in the set. Honestly most of all im excited for the new art and in cards like Goyfs case new frame. I honestly could never stand him cause that ugly frame.
I have the Goyfs because I like to smash face with the best blue creature in the game, not to try and make a profit. I can't understand why no one else who owns a playset is slightly sad in the least about loosing like $40
Realize that this is a game, not the stock market.
I don't forsee a huge drop in price, anyway.
I am not a collector, but I realize that there are people who are. I have no problem with Goyfs dropping $10, but its the threat of dropping more than that that hurts a little. I am glad that this *should* help people get into modern but also slightly sad disappointed that it is being reprinted.
This mentality only makes sense if you ever plan on selling said cards. You've had Goyfs since Future Sight. Never sold them. If you've played and have been playing them then you plan on keeping them and have been getting value out of their inclusion in your decks. If you've been hoarding them cause you feel good that you have $400 in cardboard, then it is your loss and your decision to keep them rather than sell them when they're high.
Stop complaining that your collectible (and continually printing) card game fluctuates in prices. That's the name of the game.
I'm not complaining, but if I ever want to trade for some reason, I will (probably) get less than I would have yesterday. Just saying.

I meant that if I sell all 4 of them at $80 EACH, I would be loosing $10 on EACH card. Total loss= $40.
If I sold them RIGHT NOW for $80 each, I would have lost $40, which was my point in the first place.
I agree. It's not like these will be going for $25 a booster (like the ratio of FtV market prices and MSRP)
Okay, suit yourself. I would rather have $40 than $0

The stock market comment was just an analogy to another question and had no relevance to Magic at all. Calm down, people.
How so? It's true. (Okay, so if you want to be technical, Goyf is green. But remember that he is played as the beater in most modern blue builds)
I have the Goyfs because I like to smash face with the best blue creature in the game, not to try and make a profit. I can't understand why no one else who owns a playset is slightly sad in the least about loosing like $40
They claimed that this was the year for modern, and look what we got so far:
Shocks.
And more shocks.
Seems like support for modern to me.

Yes, actually. I've also heard of sarcasm too. They have held a steady price tag and there was no reason to get rid of them.
Because maybe I want my cards to be worth something? Its like asking why someone is upset when their stocks plunge.
