Loam was important, sure, but without the ability to get those lands into play faster, it's just 50 minutes of exchanging Wasteland and Rishadan Port activations. lol

    That sounds abysmal.

Chasm doesn't stop tendrils. Loss of life is different from damage. Good luck with DDFT. I played that deck for a year and it's a blast.

Ah thank you for clearing that one up! And yeah I've been practicing the list for a bit, it's not easy but it definitely feels a lot resilient to SB hate and is over all a much more stable storm deck to what I'm used to. (I piloted TES for about 3 months.)

So this weekend I ended up playing a small tournament with my playgroup for the chance to win a Force of Will. This had to be the most diverse tournament I've ever played in, here are the decks:

    Elves
    RWU Delver
    NO RUG
    Tinfins
    Sneak/Show
    Lands
    Shardless BUG
Doomsday Fetchland Tendrils (My next deck to learn)
No Budget Pox (You don't see this every day, it was enjoyable)
    RUG Delver

Out of 4 rounds I only played two, as I wasn't feeling too well after a midnight prerelease and a long day following. My matchups were these:

    Round 1: Sneakiest of Shows

So I still feel like this is my worst match up out of any deck I've ever played against. I did not see any of my mainboard cards which could have saved me from a shown Emrakul or at least helped me out in the game. (Karakas, Crop Rotation, Pithing Needle) Funnily enough, game two I didn't see a single sideboard card and he went off turn 1. It was not the best game, and now I'm seriously considering Prime Time.

Round 2: Grizz and the Boys

Tinfins. The favorite deck of one of my friends. He'd taken a long break from playing it since last year (or was it the year before?) when he put it together but never played it, so he made up for that by sitting in his room all week for the tournament and playtesting it, that's dedication. Anyway. Game 1: I lose pretty hard, it was quite messy. Game 2 is where things started to shift in my favor, both of us had relatively slow starts, my artifact ramp was messed up by a Hurkyl's Recall, but he couldn't find his combo and proceeded to try to kill me with a fantastic Children of Korlis beatdown for about 5 turns while I sat on a single Crop Rotation in hand. As he finally found his combo, he entombs a Griselbrand and goes to Shallow Grave it into a crop rotated Bog. Forced him into a scoop. Game 3 was a lockdown with Chalices, Wastelands, a Sphere of Resistance and a Crop Rotation in hand to fetch for a Glacial Chasm just in-case he storms off. It was a solid game and I was happy to have beaten a deck which was definitely a bad matchup for me.

    Round 3-4: Drop.

Now I shouldn't have done this as my two combo matchups (aside from NO RUG) were out of the way and the rest of the decks would have been relatively easy as my list is tuned enough to survive against them. Funny though how I didn't see a 20/20 token all night though.

For those wondering, Elves took it with our in house Veteran Elves pilot. A fantastic and diverse group where no deck was seen twice. Definitely thinking of putting the Prime Time in board now that I was beaten so hard by Sneak/Show.

I'm so happy I bought out a lot of foils of cards before the sold out. Crop Rotation being a big one. Also got a total set of Depths so that's good, thought it is impossible to find a reasonably priced Chinese Depths.

Anyway, my current list runs 3 Intuition and 2 Crop Rotation, but I really want to push Crop Rotation up to a 3 of, as my list does rush the combo as fast as possible. It does make me consider cutting the Creeping Tar Pit from the deck, but just having it there makes me feel a little better.

Lastly, what are thoughts on Prime Time in SB for the Show/Tell match up? I saw Kurt's list had it, but as it's been said in the thread, he never got to use it all day.

Why? its not very good in this build in my experience. There is no blue so you can't recur EE with Ruins or search for it with TWest. EE is also a reactive card and this version of lands is pretty proactive.

He has three K-Grip in his board to help against troublesome permanents which are better out of the board then EE is.

Why do you think the EE is needed?

EE's are more or less our only way aside from Chasm for dealing with TNN. But you're right, the lack of blue kind of makes it a moot point.

I'm a bit surprised he didn't run any EE's and got away with it.

Nobody calls it jund depths, at least for me. They don't play ports or blue.

Exactly. I was playing in MD with 3 trops on board, using Tolaria west several times and three different people asked me why I splashed blue into Jund Depths. They said they thought it was Jund Depths because they saw a Tabernacle.

Is anyone else a bit bothered when everyone calls your deck Jund Depths when it is most clearly not?

Maybe this is a good out against Omnitell?

I thought that, but they run 4x Stifle, so milling them after they ETI will be stopped.

You mean sneak attack can't be AD'ed?

I play grips for ease of casting and stuff like Omnicience, Sneak, Leyline of the Void, etc.

I do have two decays in my extra cards incase I change my mind though. I played them for a bit, but pre-punishing fire lists.

Ah yes, my mistake. I'd love to play AD, but I don't think it'd the best idea. Also, is the 61 slot for a Pithing Needle effective? I kind of like the idea.

I don't run Krosan Grip in my list, but I do have Abrupt Decay. Harder to cast thru a Moon (you need at least one Mox Diamond), but that should be good enough, right?

I'd love to know how that's working for you! My main reason for running K-Grip is for Bloodmoon and Sneak Attack. Sneak Attack cannot be hit by K-Grip and even if it could they could respond, making it a bunk point.

Thanks Sparki. I was just wondering what those with experience with it thought. I'm running through the plays it could make in my head and it seemed really good but now seeing it eat a land drop every turn does seem a bit clunky for the deck. I'm actually thinking about putting monthly updates videos on my youtube channel showing how I build the deck.

So I run both Tranquil Thicket and Horizon Canopy. The main reason I run both is to get another white source in the mainboard for supporting the sideboard, which is just for the Ethersworn Canonist. But if my Thicket gets exiled game 2, I still have a backup plan for instant speed Loam Dredging.

Also, as a question to everyone. How many Depths do you run? I've run into an issue against a few decks where I get my Depths Wasted on game 2 then DRS'd into dust. And that kind of leaves me floundering. I'm now considering bumping up the count to two, thoughts?

If they have 5 mana to cast sigarda, I'm sure they can pay the upkeep on tabernacle.

We cannot Maze of Ith Sigarda, nor Punishing Fire it. She's a HUGE problem if she lands.

Er... Sometimes I wonder why I play this deck when I regularly forget about a majority of our interactions. (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ

I also like being able to EE = 5 without the use of a mox. It's saved me more than once. (Damn Sigarda, host of herons.)

Also weird question, but anyone else like resleeving their favorite deck? Gotta love that new feel. Plus you get to go back and look at all the cards.. most of mine have stories of how I got them. Grin

How is Sigarda an issue? If Tabernacle is the reason, Tabernacle actually forces the creature to be destroyed, not sacrificed.

Also, for EDH I sometimes go through phases where I rebuild entire decks and take apart others. Double resleeving and unsleeving decks several times in a night kind of sucks to be honest. Hah

Its on the first page of the primer, under Kurt Spiess, third decklist Wink

Kurt is an exceptional player, on top of being a nice guy. I live in the Columbia area so we run into each other often. I know he is off the list and was playing some Miracle control deck for the GP.

I was just wondering if anyone else had was still actively pushing the deck and if they had made any changes or had any insight to provide.

Also on a more personal note being as we live in the same area, where do you play as I think I would remember seeing someone playing lands around.

Hah, not often I meet somebody in the area! Well I usually play in DC, and I've only been playing the deck for two months or so now. (And I just finished getting the last card for it today, HURRAH.) I play at Dream Wizards from time to time, mainly EDH and their pre-release events though. Uh, I also frequent Game's and Stuff at least once a month. If it's not too far for you to come down into DC on a Saturday to play EDH, Legacy, Netrunner and some Modern (cannot confirm that one though) I'd love to swap contact info.

Back to thread topic: I took out Creeping tar pit from my list only to immediately put it back in, having that other alternate wincon is fantastic and I actually had to use it when I locked myself harder than my opponent with two Sphere's of Resistence and a 3-Sphere.
