I've been considering converting my Nin EDH into a tiny leaders deck. I'd recommend finding room for Long Term Plans and the Reset/Izzet Guildmage combo.
I'm honestly, and you might think I'm crazy for this, not sold on Thirst. I don't really want to be discarding artifacts. I've played it in limited formats in artifact based decks and it's screwed me when I draw one artifact and two non-artifact spells and I really need the artifact, but it's not worth ditching the two other cards. Maybe I'm sort of haunted by one example, but I still am not sure if I like it. I think the include of remand and solemn can give enough card draw and thinning to get me to a Tezz. I'll test and you might think I'm bat ***** crazy, but thirst isn't a card I'm a fan of.
Brewing my first Tezz list now, as I didn't have the fetches before the reprint of the allied ones. I'm liking what I'm seeing, as I'm coming to similar conclusions. I'm hoping to get good enough and tune it to my local meta to do fairly well at an upcoming PTQ. Since people are talking about running Shackles (I'm thinking 2 maindeck) What are people's thoughts on running sad robot to thin the deck and get more islands? He also works pretty well with trading post, as he can be an artifact and draw 2 cards or a creature and draw and grab an artifact from the yard. Also, since he filters through so much of the deck, and you theoretically only need to see one, is it completely out of the question to only run 3 Tezzerets? If you really think I need another one, I can find one easy, but I think three would be fine. another card I was thinking of was Remand. It simply stalls a turn, which can really be the difference some games. Early game it's stall and late game it can sometimes act as a Time Walk if it's a huge, game-winning spell, like mindlsaver from Tron or Splinter Twin. It might make the deck a bit more reactive, but I think that's a fine thing to be.
EDIT: Since they're printing on color duals, how will that affect how you make your mana base? Are you expecting to run 4 Shocks and 4 Deltas? That's what I'd do, but I want other opinions.
EDIT 2: I'm looking at different threads on this site and others and I'm curious, and this might have already come up, I didn't read every post, but if you splash red for, say, Burn and Spellbombs, would it be worth it to run 1-2 Mishra, Artificer Prodigy? The tutor seems relevant, as most lists are running 2-3 of things, anyway, and dropping him, then playing a wurmcoil or Batterskull and tutoring for another is almost too good to pass up...
So I want to build a deck like this to follow my Ashling, the Pilgrim deck to better deal with some of my friend's stupider decks (Like Azami) and I'm relieved to see that you're still keeping up on this. I was wondering how you felt about cards like Wildfire or Burning of Xinye, especially if you fit more mana rocks in there. I'm sorry if this already came up, I don't have the time to read through all responses right now. I'm fairly used to pre-hate because I traditionally have had better card pools than some of my friends due to my father playing (we're all poor college students) and my best advise is to just sit them down and simply say that you understand if you feel something needs to be dealt with, but that they should focus on the person who has the best board state. Like if you're just mountain, go until you cast Jaya, and the guy next to you just drops a turn one guilded lotus off mana vault and mana crypt into sol ring and top and you're still getting targeted, that's when there's an issue. Otherwise, you are running a general that hates a specific color, so you're probably going to get targeted by anyone running that color and you can't feel too badly about it...
Anyone else have speculations or hopes for the other two planeswalkers? I'm hoping for, but probably won't get, a Rakdos Tibalt. He seems like he would fit right in, causing pain for fun, and they sorta screwed him treating him as an experimental 2 mana. He's be good if his abilities cost one less each, or two less each and he was 3 mana. Any other thoughts besides Jace and Gideon?
How about Death Baron, Undead Warchief, Gravecrawler, Geralf's Messenger (BBB can be tricky, though), and Carrion Feeder as a sac outlet. I have a friend who has a Thrax deck and gets out rooftop storm to sac Gravecrawler infinite times. two infinity/infinity creatures (Thrax and Carrion Feeder)
I noticed that earlier in the thread, people kept getting yelled at for suggesting cards on the reserved list, but I'd just like to point out that they have already reprinted at least five cards from that list in previous from the vault series or similar sets:
Karn, Silver golem
Phyrexian Negator (in the duel decks)
Mox Diamond
Masticore
Memory jar
So, in fact, it is quite possible to see a card such as Gaea's Cradle or such from the reserved list. Personally, though, I'm hoping for Phyrexian Tower, I could use another one for a EDH deck. Additionally, is anyone else hoping they do something similar to what they did for Mikeus, and print a land from RTR?
